The Pyrenees are a mountain range located in southwestern Europe, separating France and Spain. They stretch for about 430 miles (690 kilometers) and reach a maximum height of over 11,000 feet (3,400 meters) at the peak of Aneto Mountain in Spain. The Pyrenees are home to a variety of plant and animal life, including many species of birds, such as the golden eagle, and mammals, such as the Pyrenean ibex. The region is also home to many small villages and towns, as well as popular ski resorts.
