@@TM29329 I am not talking about US and Europe, eventho in Europe too you would find many places where ppl are poor af. I mean the absolute majority of capitalist countries - that being global south. Those countries who are the actual representation of capitalism, not the countries who got to exploit others for centuries. Then we have eastern europe who actually had communism in the past and no one had trouble eating there. Also yes, many people left north Korea expecially since the 90s, because there was a famine back then. But I would love to see a capitalist country thats been under such heavy sanctions for 70 years. Its only communist countries who get these sanctions, thus there is no surprise they are going to have issues. Also you probably dont know that since the 90s only about 33k ppl left N.K. thats about 0.15% of the population it had in the 90s. Now it has many more ppl. Also you probably dont know that there are double defectors, that is people who left north k. and then returned, you will never hear about those in the news. And it should be said they defected back to north korea eventho its illegal and they could be killed on the way back too. So they must have wanted it badly enough. Also there are south koreans who escaped to north korea, you will never hear about those too. Those who were caught by south korean police got shot for it. Among the north korean escapees, they have even higher rates of attempts of suicide than south koreans, who are already among the highest in the world. Yes, many ppl left n.k.but that was especially when there was famine and its understandable. Thats why its understandable we would have some stories about hunger etc. And media will catch onto it obviously because communism bad, red scare. Maybe you should rather look into the propaganda thats purposefully pushed out by western countries. Also the guardian (mainstream enough) has article on "Why do North Korean defector testimonies so often fall apart" .. the reason is, they have money incentives. They are poor in South Korea, thats why. So you cant believe everything they say either. But most communist countries never had problems with hunger, on the contrary, in countries like USSR and China, they solved hunger problems.. dont even try to suggest that to me otherwise, I am from a post communist country and my family says its nonsense, everybody could eat. Again even CIA admitted in their (now declassified) documents that contrary to claims in the propaganda, average calory intake in the USSR was about the same as in the US. It is simply not fair, and i think its absolutely obvious, to compare a country thats under such heavy sanctions for basic trade for so long as north korea is and capitalist countries in Europe or north America. I dont know how you dont see this. Cant help if you really dont see it. Comparison to other capitalist countries - those of global south - are much more feasible for comparison (eventho they have no sanctions on them).

Stores are closing in America like in downtown l.a, beverly hills, san francisco etc.. and homeless people are increasing.. theres a lot of campers on the streets and zombie like addicts

Really?? Those skyscrapers are just propaganda buildings. High-rise buildings have no elevators, no electricity, and use gas burners. The water pressure is weak, so water doesn't go down in the bathroom. This is the testimony of North Korean defectors in South Korea.

¿No tener libertad es funcionar? ¿No poder elegir qué música escuchar, que corte de pelo hacerte o qué ropa vestir, ¿eso es funcionar?¿Tener hambrunas es funcionar? Que tus ciudadanos se escapen a otros países y denunciar el infierno que viven, ¿es funcionar? Si ese país "funciona" es gracias a China, Rusia, Irán y todos esos lugares que no lo dejan colapsar. Such a thing doesn’t exist in Pyongyang. The few restaurants that exist are scattered throughout the city and available only for the elite. I never really saw any shops when I was there.

Pyongyang and a few other big cities are nice and modern, but most of it is poor due to sanctions. North Korea used to be more rich than South Korea around the pre- mid 1980s. 1990s soviet collapse really messed up the entire country.

@@senje4062 Well technically speaking, it depends what you define by more messed up. 1st world countries such as The US shouldn't have an excuse to have poor people at all or at least they should have a very low poverty rate no more than 5 percent. I'm currently living in The US, my health went downhill and couldn't work for a while, and I lost everything. I am not considered lazy by a few people, and some stopped talking to me.

Freedom? How much do you pay for your children education, for your medicines, for your housing? I guess you are American but you have no freedom. Your political system is like choosing Coca Cola and Pepsi every four years. More and more homeless people in your country.

I wonder what most of those highrises are? Apartments? Government offices? Assuming that they don't have multinational corporations occupying skyscrapers like most other cities. It's quite a developed place and well maintained too.
