PVRIS - Holy (Official Music Video)
Музыка
PVRIS’ song "Holy" comes from their album ‘White Noise'. Buy/stream at RiseRecords.lnk.to/Whitenoise
You've got it all,
But you've got it all wrong.
You don't know you're a poor unfortunate soul.
Oh I know,
You make it seem that you feel whole,
So they don't know you're a poor unfortunate soul.
You put on a faith facade,
Think you're holy when you're not.
I hate to break it to you baby,
But you're simply lost.
You can right all the wrongs just to feel you belong,
But simply calling out sins don't bring you closer to God.
You're just a ghost at most,
A set of empty bones,
Searching for anything and everything to make you feel whole,
When it gets cold.
You don't know.
No you don't know.
You're all alone,
You poor unfortunate soul.
You can't control where your body let's you go.
You're all alone,
You poor unfortunate soul.
And you say that I've got it all wrong.
'Cause you just know I'm a poor unfortunate soul.
But there's no way that there's weight in the words that you preach,
When you're claiming your faith and you contradict your speech.
So I sit here and listen to your tongue and cheek,
I know that when you sit and pray you're only praying for keeps.
Cause you're a ghost at most,
A set of empty bones,
Searching for anything and everything to make you feel whole,
When it gets cold.
You don't know.
No you don't know.
You're all alone,
You poor unfortunate soul.
You can't control where your body let's you go.
You're all alone,
You poor unfortunate soul.
You're shallow and empty and filled with regret.
I think that chest must be heavy from that cross on your neck you only wear 'cause you're weary of what comes next after your death.
Don't think I didn't notice.

I never knew I needed this song until now. She explained it was about someone she knew who was an extreme Christian who cherry-picked the Bible to justify her discrimination, and didn't practice what she preached. This is a good song for America today. (Also it's just really pretty.)

guys maybe this two-faced thing on the video is to show the hypocrisy of religion-church and fanatic religious people who claim to be be all moral and stuff but actually the other side of themselves(the other face) isn't.

Santeh Colon D yea but the majority of them are, and majority wins. Or in this case, ruins it for the whole bunch
@LaisARamos-gk4ep

Santeh Colon D ,I think the song is specificly about those who are hypocritical and judgemental and intolerant and think they are entitled to consider those who don't follow all the dogmas as sinners, you know, once the lyrics say things like "simply calling out sins don't bring you closer to God"..I consider myself a Christian girl and I also believe that compassion is the key to tolerance and that Jesus was all about compassion and that the love He preached about was a compassionate kind of love, but, let's face it,unfortunetely not all people who consider themselves Christians feel this way,and this is why Christianity has such a bad reputation amongst people who defend progressive views in general...But intolerance happens inside other religions as well,in fact,it happens inside every belief system,so I guess intolerance is probably a part of the negative side of human condition... Anyway, speaking specificly about the video,I literally have no idea of what it actually means...Lol

Laís A. Ramos thank you! that's exactly what i was about to say..i don't beliece all religious people are "bad"...this song specifically talks about those religious people who think their beliefs give them the right to hate on other people...and unfortunately that's the majority of them...and that's because they miss the big picture which is to love people and not judging them....in my opinion if you are a fanatic christian and you follow the bible by every letter, i dont think that you are a good person..in fact i think you are a hypocrite because the bilble in some parts it says that you should STONE TO DEATH people for their beliefs or who they are etc...and you can't love people and kill them at the same time :\ (i'm not talking about you i'm talking in general :P )
"Simply calling out sins, don't bring you closer to God"

I'm a christian, at the same time I can relate so much to this song, I believe it's a callout not for all religious people, but the radical ones, extremism is bad in all ways, and myself as a christian feel a lot of how this is, when I hear this song I immediately think of my mother "but simply calling out sins, don't bring you closer to God" is a line that really resembles her, sometimes I even wanna show this to her and see the reaction, anyway, It's good a song that talks about this religious issues in a deeper way than just "fuck you jesus" as other bands

I really hate religion, people hide their acts behind it and think it's okay to just say their sins in the church but then make the same sins again. Religious people think they are the purrst, the best, they clal the other religions bad and made by devil. Once my religion teacher said ''One god but different paths''. Religion is what devided our people the most, was the cause of the most disasters and wars, just because we think we act like our beloved god said while we just try to find an excuse to do such terrible acts. My parents are highly religious and I was too, we had to go to church every week until I noticed something wrong. All those people being completly manipulated, thinking they are doing good and are above the others, that all those who don't believe in the same god will burn in hell. I hated this religion since then, and stopped believing in their god. For me there is no God, or at least not a god who cares about us. It abandoned us
@kana7715
3 жыл бұрын
@@lcdc_azuralie it depends on the church and the people's mentality, i won't deny that a high percentage of people are indeed being manipulated and there are a lot of scums in the religious medium, but not everyone is like that, and generalizing ain't very good. I've met very good people that really dedicate their lifes to helping others because of religion, also people who were previously engaged with crime but gave up that because they were touched by the teachings and etc, not everyone is perfect but i still see a light in this path, but yeah, it's sad that what is supposed to be something to help people has become a big mean to opression, contrary to what is actually written in the sacred texts.
@jairvandersterre1002
3 жыл бұрын
@@lcdc_azuralie Well I can't say I hate religion because I was raised christian and still kind of have to identify as such but I do kind of agree. Not going to say much more other than that I think one should just believe in themselves and have their own good morals.
