Conclusion after watching this: - There are too many cool puzzles out there I want to try - I definitely want to modify something myself (not sure my two left hands will agree) - these concepts are not from this world

Old collector here. I have all these shape mods lol. But none were manufactured as all were hand made. Tony Fisher, Adam Zamora, Hidetoshi Takeji, etc. at that time, a gigaminx was still an old April fools joke lol

I definitely agree that everyone should have these puzzles and mirror blocks should be a WCA event

I think AXIS (3x3 mod) is a must have !! much more interesting to solve than 3x3fisher and windmill, more satisfying than a mastermophix (that is cool as well) because you get a regular cube shape in the end :)

Everyone needs a cuboid. I got a proportional 3x3x7 last year and it's my favorite puzzle in my whole collection. You don't need a cuboid that big, but 3x3x7 is really neat

Definitely a Tuttminx. It's a very unique puzzle that not many have. It's a marathon solve but not overly complicated. :)

I'd love to see an updated version of this & the buy this not that non-WCA. I love non-standard puzzles, and it's so hard to find reviews on them these days

Great video. ♥️ I definitely agree that self modded puzzles are the most precious ones. I did not do fancy shape mods (yet) but I modified a lot of puzzles. I magnetized endless puzzles on my own. For example all the mini cubes from Cubing classroom from 50 to 30mm and the mini Valk, a 3.5mm 2x2, a 1x2x2 and a 3x2x1, as well as a lot of normal 3x3s, 4x4s and a 5x5. On my my most favourite puzzle is my Little Magic 3x3 which I magnetized and polished afterwards, so it has a shiny surface due to all the work which I put in it.

I really wish more mirror block cubes would get mass produced. And cuboids. And a 7x7 minx puzzle I’ve got the 2x2 through 6x6 so the 7 would be nice.

You know, I could've sworn I've had a mirror blocks for at least 25 years.

I think 5x5 bump cube should be mass produced as well. Also, there are too many problems for bump cube to be a WCA event. Also, does your 4x4 lock up on one (only one) axis?

Watching in 2022 after the Gan mirror blocks came out and when I first saw them, I predicted it would become a WCA event since it’s such a dramatic difference.. still not but we’ll see!

The problem with mirror cube as a WCA event is that there would have to be regulation piece sizes. All kinds of mirror cube are made differently.

I think as long as no axis is equal it would be good. Just like 3x3 can have different sizes or even have edges larger than centers.

My favorite and first shapemod i bought is the ufo cube. Its the same as the hexagonal bypyramid without the pointy corners so there are 2 corner pieces which are the same and that may cause a parity edit: i am not sure if there is a parity but i am pretty sure there is

I had to ask for them. The cube is rare so they don't have them listed but they will be able to cut them.

Fuse cubes are a cool easy mod for beginners i like mine a lot

I love mirror blocks but I personally think hat it shouldn't be an official event because it's the same solve as Rubik'a cube. If it was added, competitions would effectively double the number of rounds for 3x3. Not to mention we probably shouldn't add events that current record holders will get easy wins on. For instance it wouldn't be very exciting if Max and Feliks etc get yet another event to win, at least in my opinion.

We have 2x2 and OH which are variations on 3x3 speed solving but I don't fee many people would remove those. Similarity doesn't mean it is bad or excessive.

@@SpeedCubeReview Fair point, I personally think 2x2 should be removed (but it's the 2nd most popular event, so I doubt most people agree). I do think there is a case to be made that 2x2 is sufficiently different to 3x3 because it's a one-look solve, but you're right that Rubik's Cube and OH are basically the same event. I think the problem with making a mirror cube a WCA event is how to regulate it. I mean there might be companies making extensions larger or smaller to be faster or smthn, but it's hard to regulate how big or small those extensions can be.

I was thinking that but as long as each side is a different height that would work. It would be fairly simple to check. Too small of height would make it hard to see the different and too large would make it hard to turn.

@@SpeedCubeReview and there's also, can they be just plain mirrored or brushed? And if brushed, do the centers have to be aligned? Teach those new rules the young judges, who barely know to judge a 3x3.

What size and strength magnets did you use in your Cubing Classroom 45mm 3x3? I used 4x2 N35s in my 50mm, and they were quite weak. (i mean to use N50s but the n50s i bought were actually n35s i think.

I used N35 4x2. It seems that the stickerless plastic was a bit different (maybe thinner because of the matte finish) compared to the stickered ones I have tried. It feels perfect for me and I like strong magnets.

They are all almost identical except for cubing classroom, however it's very hard to find as most sell some of version called the "mirror S" even if it doesn't say it in the description.

Why do you want mirror blocks to be an official event? It is literally just 3x3 and adds nothing new to the WCA and would just clutter the event list.Yes its slightly harder to finger trick... but like we already have OH lol, yes it's slightly harder to recognize... but recognition will become as easy as 3x3 with enough practice. I think this will never become an official event due to these reasons, and it being hard to regulate. I think we need to focus on adding unique events like FTO (face turning octahedron), FTO is suuupeer unique to all current WCA puzzle and so much fun to solve, it already has a pretty big speedsolving community and I would love to see FTO added some day.

I feel many events are similar like 2x2 just being 3x3 corners. Or even OH. I don't think many people would say to get rid of OH because it's too similar to 2 handed.
