Just remember to take your time, small handful of pieces, no rushing, take breaks and do over multiple days. And even if you’re sort is only half as thorough as mine, you will do a lot to help with the building. Pick a few things to build as you sort - build as much or as little as you want. And if you don’t have room, sort the pieces into containers so you can stack or move off area. Thanks for joining in!

I have never sorted from the bag as I've been a heathen who has opened the bag and dumped all of the pieces into the box. I learned something new! I'm currently working on a 1,000 piece puzzle so I don't think I'll be able to buy this one right away. However looking at it, it sure is pretty and will have to grab it in the future!

🤣🤣Okay, maybe not a "heathen" - you made me laugh out loud reading that. Even when I speed puzzle and dump the pieces in the box, I do so slowly and try to more slide them out as they are, rather than dump them. This is such a fun puzzle to do - I'm loving the image. It's hard to capture all the details on camera.

I recently completed Ravenburger 3000 piece Karens Puzzle it was so, so challenging and overwhelming at first especially when I had a lot of pieces ( mainly green ) on my puzzle board so my stratergy was to remove any piece off the board that wasn't already connected to other pieces, sub sort them then choose different areas at a time to complete. Very much like what you have shown us today. Every time I felt a little frustrated with it, I would say, Oh Karen!!!!😂 Then by some sort of magic pieces just seemed to go into place.

Ah thanks! I tried to be as detailed as possible to help people. And yes, it is a lot of pieces and can be overwhelming. I find many people want to rush the sorting and just jump right into assembling - which is more difficult to do with so many pieces. I enjoy a slow thorough sort - love looking at all the pieces. And if you can build as you sort, then it doesn't feel so tedious. It's such a beautiful fun image to build!

Sorting from bag was a new approach for me! I don't think I will use it as i am way too impatient for that, i want to start building as soon as possible 😂 I usually just pour all the pieces out and start finding edges and other prominent groups first. I think for this i would have done maybe 10 piles. I think even in the few 6000 piece puzzles i have done i havent had such detailed piles as you had in the beginning 😊 Later, when i have finished the easiest parts and gotten to know the puzzle more i do resort bigger piles into smaller ones if i feel like it. But i loved your video and seeing a different method and the encouragement you gave! The puzzle looks fantastic, and i would have also started from the yellow book. If I were to do this puzzle in my usual fashion of "build-as-I-sort", I think most of the books would have been built right away, have an unknown pile and just leave all the sky pieces sorted into sub-piles for the end. I'm thinking of getting "If Fish Could Walk" and doing that with it. If you've done some 6,000 pieces, then this lovely 2,000 puzzle won't be a problem at all. It's such a fun image! I realised while watching this series, that I sort completely differently than you :D Maybe it's because I don't love the sorting, and I don't like tooking at the image too much. So, what I do, is sort mostly without looking at the picture. In this puzzle, I'd put all the blue books together, all the white ones etc. I'd probably separate the tiger out, the yellow book and maybe something else that would catch my eye. Next, I take the smallest pile, and start building all the sections in that colour at the same time. If I notice eg. that there is super light blue and super dark, I'd dig this ones ot first, to focus on one section more. This way I'm sorting good enough, but without spending ages on it. The building takes a bit longer, but I don't mind, since I like that part much more :)

I think I tried to sort extra detailed for this series knowing that maybe most wouldn't sort as thoroughly as I did. I know some sorted the books by colour and then sub-sorted them afterwards. I do think you could build a lot of this puzzle as you sorted through the pieces. You're right though, the building part is more fun than sorting, but I don't mind sorting as much as most people. I just love looking at every piece.

It is one i decided to take apart and keep once I'd take a picture of the completed puzzle because I would definitely do it again at some later date. I love that you are so thorough in your explanation of what you are doing. I sort very thoroughly because it makes the build so much easier and I also try to build what I can as I sort. Arranging your piles on the board where they actually fit in the puzzle is an excellent idea. I admit I open the bag and tip it out and then sort. I think the only ones I've sorted straight from the bag are smaller ones but I might give this a try on my next larger piece count one.

Instead of containers I use various pieces of cardboard different sizes depending on how many pieces of each color/ patterns. For a more complex puzzle I usually work the pieces there (you can work a section while watching tv,etc) and they easily slide into place They all stack up on top of each other very compactly to move to another place when youre done working on it. (I dont want it spread over my kitchen table if company stops by lol).. I use the big ' board' for the frame too so you can transport it altogether

This was super satisfying to watch… I admire your patience in the sorting-the post-sorting piles were very impressive! I’ve never done the piles onto the table in the general area like this, but I’ll have to give it a shot with my next one! I’m DYING to do a 2000 piece … I’ve done seven 1000 piece puzzles in the past 6 weeks… (can’t get enough) I want to do the Ravensburger “Universal-Amblin” 2000 piece puzzle… I just need a break in my work schedule so I can take my time to really ENJOY the puzzling. Cheers🎉🧩❤

It's funny because some people don't understand why I like speed puzzling, and then others don't understand how I can be so patient to thoroughly sort. I just guess I enjoy the best of both worlds hehehehe I love doing a detailed sort and then the build is just so much easier. I also love my build-as-you-sort. I'll be doing my next Puzzle Along series on that - perhaps you can join along. Vicky Makes and Builds did the Universal-Amblin and I think she really enjoyed it. She has videos on it. Once you catch the puzzling bug, you just can't stop! Hope you get to start Universal-Amblin soon and really enjoy it. Let me know how you do get on with it.

I'm not puzzling this puzzle as I don't do anything bigger than 1000 pieces. Interesting to see all your suggestions on how to do bigger puzzles. I can understand your reasoning for doing all the sorting first but that would be too tedious for me. 😧 The only time I sort up front is if I am doing a colour gradient puzzle. I did that for the Grafika 01120 Rainbow puzzle which I found rather boring but worth it as colours were grouped together. The rest of the time I spread all the pieces 🧩🧩over four or six trays, pick an area of the image I wish to work on and find the relevant pieces. I do have a Ceaco puzzle scoop which I use if I have made a section of the puzzle elsewhere and wish to transfer it to the board. All of us have our own way of doing puzzles that works best for us. Just in the process of finishing Gibsons Care Bears jigsaw. 🧸🧸

I just watched the whole video. I really enjoy seeing how other people approach puzzles and like to see if I can learn from their process. I was going to follow along and build using your techniques to see if I found it easier or more enjoyable. Lol i can't do that. 1) I don't have an area big enough to spread piles of pieces out like that. I'm going to build this on two pieces of foam board, so that I can stack and put them away at the end of each session. 2) My cat would destroy that before I had 100 pieces put out. I need to sort into containers to keep him out of them and I need to put them away at the end of the session. I normally will leave small chunks of built pieces in the bottom of a box until it's big enough to move to the board. I am going to try and sort into more containers (than I normally would) and gradient the sky in a puzzle box lid. Sorting is what I'm not good at. You did a really good job of explaining your piles and why you chose to sort like that. My issue is always recognizing what each piece is. I always end up with a huge misc pile. Will try to do better with that this time. Sooooo.... I'm building along but probably going to end up doing a hybrid of your techniques and how I normally do a puzzle. Love the concept of this series and I hope that everyone has fun building this beautiful image. 🥰 I have built four 2000 piece puzzles, I will be ok doing this one, just won't be following along exactly as you are doing it.

I should have explained that if you don't have the room or can't keep the pieces out, that you should sort into containers and then you can move them out of the way. Sorry, I wasn't explicit enough about that. I just like to leave the piles out because I have the space to do it. Basically though, of you are sorting all the pieces into as many piles as possible, then you are doing what I'm doing - it's the same - just storing the pieces in a different way. It'll be interesting to see how you end up assembling if you start before the next video is released and if you end up doing it how I did it...???

@@fortheloveofpuzzles I haven't sorted as detailed as you did. I have seven sorted piles plus: The edge pieces A pile of what I call pieces of interest - things that I know what it is but not enough for a pile. Things like a face etc. Misc pile. I did sort through this a bit more today and it's down to about 1/3 of the pieces. I've put these pieces into two box tops and flipped them all right side up. I will build the yellow book first, but just because you asked us to 😄. I can't imagine that I would choose the same order you would just based on how our pieces are organized. What this has taught me is that we think about how to approach puzzles very differently - and that's ok. There is no right or wrong way. A completed puzzle was done correctly regardless of how one gets there. This series is very interesting, it will be fun to see how different we really do approach it. I hope others also comment on how they are doing.♥️

@@Dexter-ns4of Thank you for doing the yellow book first 😁😁hehehehe We all do puzzle differently which is totally fine. This series is shaped for people who would have no idea where to start such a large puzzle and want a step by step guide. I did sort more thoroughly than usual as I wanted to make the build as simple as possible for those people. And knowing if someone following along normally doesn't sort, if I did a thorough sort, they may sort half as well as I would, which would still be great. But if I did a general sort, I think they would still feel overwhelmed with the few large piles of pieces. I wanted to try and get more people sorting more thoroughly and really taking the time to look at every piece. I know it's not for everyone but do hope it helps a few people complete their first 2,000 piece puzzle. Looking forward to reading how you end up building compared to my approach. I'm going to release the next videos sooner so people don't have to wait!

But if you are in desktop set up, then just above where you typed in this comment, you should see the description box/area. You may have to press "Show more..." to see the entire thing. Sorry, it's a bit hard to explain so you may nee to ask someone to show you as it does depend if using an app or a web browser. Hope this helps though... Thanks for watching and joining in. This is such a fun puzzle!

2000 piece puzzle is the max that fits on my kitchen (I mean puzzle...) table but it is indeed hard to sort the pieces. I mean you could always put them on the table but then there is no space to build the puzzle itself. I like what you did here, putting them more in the piles and around the right area. Not sure if I have this much patience when it comes to sorting though. It feels so boring with anything bigger than 1000 pieces. Any tips on that?

Yes - build as much as you can / or want to as you sort. For example in this puzzle, I show how I built a lot of the wording as I sorted and even a little bit of some books. I also built the yellow book as I sorted. If you find sorting tedious - just take your time, pull small handfuls of pieces at of the bag at a time, pick a few things to build as you sort the pieces, and just enjoy the process - don't try to rush it. Hope this helps!

And that's okay if your unknown pile is large. The more you build the puzzle, the more you will recognise where some of those pieces go. It is a lot to try and sort 2,000 pieces so just getting through that part of the process is a success in itself. Good on you to put your pieces into boxes to keep things organised.
