i'm sorry it took so long for me to see this, i didn't notice the video had gone up and i certainly did not expect that i'd be featured in it either. it's been so long i can't even remember who won. anyway this was a fun match though and the editing is hilarious, nice work, and i hope to battle you again soon

All good man. I had this match stored up for a while and wanted to use it for a sort of mini project, of course it takes me 20 years to do anything with it because I'm as slow as a snail when it comes to working on videos but eh got there in the end. The PvT and TvP matches we played were very fun from what I do remember. Thank you for the complements and yeah hope I can fight ya again soon!

This is why you don't go for style when you're Tetris against Puyo, if you let the Puyo player build up like that then there's practically nothing you can do to get out of it.

It is. I’ve done it quite a few times and I feel so accomplished when I manage to do it.

The disadvantage is at a slight tetris player.

PVT to some: How do you even win on Puyo with this matchup. PVT to some: AAAAAAH THE CHOSED PUYO WE DEAD.

I’ve definitely been nuked by both Tetris and Puyo before. Yesterday I got absolutely BLASTED in Champions so i’m not even safe in Puyo v Puyo

My god this is exactly how it feels For context, I am decent at Puyo (regularly getting 4-5 chains off), and absolute dogshit garbage at Tetris So when I played Stage 5-6 in Adventure mode, being forced to use Tetris AND getting whallopped by Sig before I could make any sort of real damaging play, I just freaking had it and used skip

I was playing the adventure mode got to around the 4th world, stopped being able to win and have now decided to just skip everything I can and finish the story. Honestly good on the developers for including the option. Otherwise I'd just look it up on youtube anyways.

Little tip when doing pvt, don't build horizontally too early in the game. What you should do is force build vertically then with the right rng, build horizontally

my problem with puyo is that i dont know ANY techniques (things like GTR, L-shape) so i just bring up whatever i can do and hope i get a good enough chain from it

I think in a neutral state puyo has the slight advantage when it comes to stacking combos so the tetris needs quick points to block them as soon as possible. Puyo also has the advantage of combos triggering other combos, while tetris can only do so when you fill blocks. When the puyo player is at at disadvantage more than when the tetris player is as they can still use the blocks for combos.

Something i never liked about puyo vs Tetris... Is that you can be blocked again and again from doing any chains as puyo... But Tetris aren't stopped from doing their can't, they're only pushed up.

I've been doing fine, I just haven't been playing the game as often as I would like.

I love Squares. My only gripe with the original PvT was it doesn't really have a final boss. Ecolo and Satan are kind of "there" and Ex doesn't feel like a threat.

The first match is just me playing puyo puyo and praying for the love of comis rectangles I last more than 1 minute

Have you thought about using the unlockable in-game Green Screen background during matches for a video? cause then you could add your own backgrounds into the video, and not many people have made videos using it!

I in fact have thought about it, though the main problem with it would be that I actually would have to plan to make a recording of it ahead of time and most of my stuff is recorded using the in-game replays since I can just go back to those. The unfortunate thing about them is that they keep the same background and add music to them no matter what you do (at least on console which is what I mainly play on). It's a nice idea, but kind of hard for me to implement at least with what I'm currently doing.

It's so insane, if I don't immediately absolutely slather the opponent in garbage by spamming Tetris over and over again, they build a 20 chain and completely destroy any chances at a solid victory. It really only feels fair when it's Tetris vs. Tetris 😭

If you think prettier animations and an RPG-ish skill battle mode plus some nice extra stuff like spectator mode are worth the extra $10, then go for PPT2. If you're just interested in playing Puyo or Tetris though as they are, stick with PPT1. (side-note: Subjective, but honestly I think the online experience is better on PPT1 than 2)

Tetris is just too fast for puyo to keep up. I never jnderstood how people can say puyo has the advantage.

Yeah the top comments here are silly, this video doesn't show the 2 games as equal at all lol. Tetris player lost because he went for a niche setup that took too long.

I think if 2 players are at the same skill level, puyo would have the advantage just from the sheer size of their attacks. What people who don't play puyo often forget is puyo garbage don't just block, they can be calculated into the combos too
