PUTZMEISTER vs SCHWING (hopper washout):

Establishing conclusive results for the decades long debate as to which concrete pump hopper design holds more residual concrete, as well as which one requires more water to washout. We put out a Putzmiester VS70 truck mounted line-pump up against the SP500 trailer-pump of Muddy Feet Concrete Pumping.

Appreciate the kind feedback. The new 1005 trailer which we had in loaner has gone back. Was a great little pump! Keep on learning, every single day (I still do).

the schwing hopper design with a rock valve is the easiest to clean out by far

I've run a lot of Different Pump's in my almost 30 years of pumping concrete since I was a young kid from Hydroseal pump's which was the worst pump's to work and gate valve Schwing and Putzmister and the easiest hopper to wash out is a Schwing Rock Valve that's what I think here in IRELAND

Hey scott ! I’ve seen videos of asian guys when they wash the boom they put a sponge and they fill up the hopper with water and they leave no cement they dump all cement to truck mixer can that also work for Putzmeister booms ?

I’ve got a request off the subject of this video but if you ever get at opportunity to show how you typically tarp the back end of your boom pump, please do so. We’ve just recently got a new pump and I’ve been trying to train a new guy I’ve never had a worthy of typing, so not sure how most people tarp.

We use this same setup for our boom pumps, except cut the poly to 20’ long instead of the 16’ which we use for the line pumps. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yot4t82ne9PgYto.htmlsi=LceIzY7kKp0XuScg

If you add 1 telescopic extension to the end of each boom, the length will double. Counterweight is required of course.

Also I use diesel fuel to coat the pump before pumping for easier wash out but it ruins clothes and I just think there’s something better and as cheap. What is it you all use?

I believe Sermac manufactured a 62 meter boom pump with a telescoping main section. From what I recall, there were some issues with it.

I like the pressure wash for the S-tube, but for rinsing the inside of the hopper I find that it back-splashes too much and makes a mess. Just a personal preference.

That seems to be the consensus. These Putz line-pump S-tubes can a little tricky to rake out due to their short length and drastic bend. Notorious for buildup after a long day of pumping shotcrete.
