Great video. Entertaining and uplifting ! I have a very similar operation to you and we are bout 2 weeks away from the start of our hay season. Watching your video brought home how much actual coordination it takes to hay, Mother Nature included. You're getting me pumped bro !

Really bring back some good memories riding with dad in our Kubota m135gx with a Kuhn speed rake. Unfortunately he got out of the hay game before I was really old enough to actually enjoy the process. Good memories

Yeah, that’s a real nice rake. Unfortunately, that one was borrowed from my dad, so I’m currently using a much more ragged setup! Thanks for watching!

Me and my wife bought one..450 E an the saleman said it had all the bells and whistles. When i started to bale i noticed it didnt have it on the monitor...the left an right bale indicators..after raising some hell with the dealership..they came out an put the sensors on an they got into the monitor an changed it to an M series..sensors are 900 dollars.. i think...but it bales good an we make a 59 inch bale..

I’ve been really happy with how our bales have come out even without the sensors, but I did think about that upgrade. Our windrows tend to be fairly big in our Bermuda and mixed grasses, so I don’t think it’s as big of a deal with this smaller baler than with the full size models (where the pickup is typically wider than windrows). Been really happy with this baler after one (almost complete) season

You can buy the sensor for the bale feeding guide on the monitor it's about 800.00 from Deere easy to put on .

Good to know. Our typical windrows are as wide as the pick up on this baler, so I’m not sure I could compensate much anyway. I know with my dads larger baler it does make a difference.

You can add the bale shape sensors. I have the same baler and I added them it was easy. You change the setting on the bale monitor in the cab from 450e to 450.

Yeah, I have heard that it’s easy to do. It made very consistent bales for us all year as it is, so I doubt we make that upgrade. The narrower pick up (as compared to the large balers) means our windrows are typically just as wide, so I’m not sure we could make a lot of adjustments anyways.

@@HurricaneCreekFarms I baled 2yrs before I got the sensors and kept my windrows the same width as the pick up and it worked just fine.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s a difficult upgrade. I did find that we bale a really consistent bale even without it, though. I think it’s more critical when using the bigger balers where there’s more room for correction. Most of our windrows are as wide as the pickup, so I’m not sure that the sensors would help us too much.

I have rolled 2500 or so so far with our 450e if u rake your hay right u don't really need them but it will help u make a tighter more dense roll

  • @HurricaneCreekFarms

Yeah, those are all really easy adjustments to make. This baler will go up to 60 in, and we have it set for 58 to allow us a little wiggle room for oversized bales.
