Putting Down Roots in Viking Purgatory - Valheim Ashlands

Ойындар

Odin has opened up the Ashlands in Valheim, adding new lands, enemies, and craftables! I'm starting fresh with a new game in Valheim as we work through the content to get to the Ashlands.
A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!

Suggestion for your build... you free placed the floor panels so you wouldn't have the horizontal beams sticking up, but you don't need them. The vertical 1m beams under the floor will support the floor. Remove the horizontal beams that run across the middle of your floor and let the floor panels snap to the outside frame of horizontal beams. You will have a much easier time getting things to line up and snap properly.

Boy oh boy, I see the way he's misaligned the pillars and can't wait to see him struggle to put the walls on wondering why they won't snap properly :) Aww, he discovered that WAY too fast. I was hoping we'd get at LEAST ten minutes of fox driving himself crazy. How dare you be reasonably observant!

Pro tip when raising the ground: If you like straight edges around your 'plateau fort', straight lines are achievable based on the compass. If you face due N,E,S or W when raising the ground you will end up with perfectly straight edges. Use the mini map arrow to help align your facing direction. You can also trim messy edges afterwards by carefully mining along the bottom of your raised area by following the same method.

Regarding light and throwing torches, you can use fire arrows - fire them into a wall and you get a short lived light source.

@CrypticFoxGaming By the way, if you record through OBS and have/can switch to SDR video, you can set up a filter to brighten/raise gamma. Right click on whatever Source you're recording from (like Game Capture or Display Capture), then Filters, then under the Effects Filters hit the plus sign, then select Color Correction. You can adjust Gamma, Contrast, Brightness, etc there. Very handy. The problem is that almost everyone tweaks the gamma on their own monitors, while what you're recording is what an UNadjusted monitor would show--which is why it looks fine on your own monitor while you're playing. Almost everyone adjusts their gamma higher, and devs know this, so they don't adjust the game gamma higher. Vicious circle for the lose. (I've somehow turned into a huuuge AV nerd lately. How did this happen?! I'm a middle aged woman, for bleep's sake!)

lol thanks. Didn't occur to me that it would be the difference between my monitor brightness and what the game was putting out. Pretty sure I'm already in SDR so I gave it a little tweak to see how it helps. :)

LOL - I'm totally going to play with the "Fire spread" thing enabled, just to be nasty to myself. I mean, um, fire in the middle of your house was an Iron Age (and well into the Middle Ages) thing for reasons, but, hmm. Going to force some changes to the architecture I'm thinking.

48:00 I have to constantly remind my self to not look at all the new releases because I have too many games that I've yet to play. I could go offline for years and still not get through all the games I've bought or got for free from Epic Games. Especially since I keep going back to games like ONI, Factorio, Stardew Valley, etc. etc. Also I'm really happy to see you play Valheim again from the beginning! I have to admit last time you played when the Mistlands update released it got a bit boring watching your die over and over again in the water to the bugs.

Portal anything is legit as long as you've done it by ship before...and failed miserably! 😇 Seriously though if you haven't done the whole materials run-around in the Mistlands it might be better to turn it off then at least until you've established the pattern. Vikings in Valheim had to be SMaRT back in the day to figure things out in the Mistlands and I think you owe yourself a screw up or two in that department. Reinforce/frame with corewood if you want to build a mo bigger and better longhouse or any structure if you have a mind to, it is between regular wood and stone as far as structural strength goes.

@@CrypticFoxGaming It will hopefully soon arrrive and then watch the price increase, mine jumped to nearly DOUBLE my copper cable price. Still as the computer is my main source of Enterainment its worth it. If I was to watch UK T that alone would cost me £169.50 per year before I even turn on the TV.
