I remember playing this game as a kid and never beating it because I couldn't figure out how to save the snake. I never thought about giving him hot chocolate. The snake's probably dead now.

Those pauses in putt putt's speech are actually comedy genius. I rarely laugh aloud at stuff, but they were just so perfectly executed and always unexpected. Inspired.

OH MY GOODNESS! What’s the problem?

I loved Chuckwagon so much as a kid, it's a small thing but being able to help myself to all those free snacks was so novel to me. It's also a neat detail that he'll give you the actual hot cocoa/cheese squiggly/cotton candy you click, meaning there's 9 different animations instead of just the one for each snack.

Ian, you fool, snakes are COLD-BLOODED which means they can't regulate their own body temperature, which means if they're TOO COLD they CAN'T MOVE. Skeeter was justified!!!

To be fair, it is hard to believe that she is too cold to move, but can still hold a conversation. Like if she is moving her head around to look at putt-putt or her tail to hold a drink, she can probably move her tail to at least try to get off the ice

He would have life insurance for self coverage and car insurance for liability.

(Pretentious comment warning) Actually, snakes can become immobile if they're too cold. They're exothermic ("cold-blooded"), and are unable to regulate body temperature on their own, so being in temperatures that are too hot or too cold can be dangerous.

As much as I do wholeheartedly agree with you Ghosty144, I do feel that the game could have better illustrated this fact. Not everyone was a biology buff like we obviously were and without the game bringing it up I can see how it could be confusing for kids (and Ian apparently).

I mean snakes can't really move very fast is cold weather, so without Putt Putt's help he'd probably have frozen to death trying to get back to his parents. They go into something called brumation when it gets too cold... similar to hibernation but being awake. If the snake doesn't eat enough before that then they will die. ... I was the animal kid growing up... Man I fucking loved Putt putt saves the zoo.

My absolute favorite game when I was a kid was Mr. Potato Head saves Veggie Valley, a game which, watching these, was clearly heavily inspired by the Putt Putt series. If you can find a copy, I'd love to see what you think of it. Like you with Putt Putt, I played it until long after I was too old.

7:04 He's a Snake, a cold-blooded animal. If he's cold, he's incapacitated to the point to where he might not be able to move. At all. Honestly, the fact that he's awake and able to drink the hot chocolate is far more impressive than you claim.

6:59 Yo-....You *do* know that snakes are cold-blooded, right Ian? If it's cold enough, a cold blooded animal literally can't move. That being said, it's unlikely that one single cup of hot cocoa would be enough for a cold blooded animal to make it back through an arctic region, but still, a sentient snake in the cold asking to be warmed makes sense.

You forgot one of my favorite parts! If you go into the whirlpool in the rapids, you drown and Freddi Fish and Luther come and save you. Always thought that was an awesome cameo.

@7:20 I thought of an explanation for the snake: snakes get sluggish and eventually can't move if their body temperature is too low, so that is why he was stuck and couldn't get himself off the ice. Of course, this could have been explained better. They missed an excellent teaching opportunity.

Whenever I first started watching Brutalmoose, I was so amazed that someone else had such an addiction to Humongous Entertainment games and so much nostalgia towards them like I do, and to this day I'm still just as amazed. Keep up the good work Ian :)

I played this game so much as a kid. Turned on that 90's PC, begged my big brother to help me set up the game, & then proceeded to CLICK ON EVERYTHING. And I must have played that Zoo song a billion times. My dad even has good memories of that song. We still sing it sometimes.

I love the rapids and finding that secret area which had that special piece of music you could only get in that area.

I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about that camera you get from Patty! I loved going around and taking pictures of every animal I could find! Of course the best ones were of the parents and babies together, but it was really weird that you could take a picture of the baby stuck in their situation or the parent looking sad.

I know you're totally joking, but snakes often do this thing when they're on cold surfaces (especially ice in the wild), where they freeze up, literally. Some snakes are smart and know to speed up instead of slow down, but cold messes with their metabolism so they don't function well.

You forgot to mention that you can give yourself a paint job in the game.

I waited my whole life for you to play this.

Good God, I haven't played this in years... but I remembered every single thing you showed in the video. This game must be one of the most nostalgic things for me... ever. Especially that food cart guy. I remember just sitting there, clicking on the foods, eating them over and over and over and over and over and... I don't know why, but I really, REALLY loved the sound effect it made. Also I totally wanted to eat them in real life too. That was probably part of it.

I love watching you play these edutainment games and giving them some much needed love! My siblings and I were homeschooled for a while, so we would play a bunch of these in our spare time. My favorite were the Cluefinders games! They're basically a crash course in a bunch of different topics for certain grade levels. I'd love to see you cover them on your channel some time! ^_^
