Requiring Ukraine to defeat the Russian Federation without hitting legitimate targets in Russian territory, is like asking Oleksandr Usyk to beat Tyson Fury without punching him in the head. It makes no strategic sense to force Ukraine to operate at such a constant tactical disadvantage. Unless the plan is simply to see what occurs first: whether Putin runs out of time; or, Ukraine runs out men. It is arrant cowardice and complicity unworthy of our war-dead of the last two world wars to let Russia run roughshod over Ukraine in this way. This chap is a rare species these days: a man with both a brain and a backbone.

He is not a politician, he would make a great secretary of defense. General Grant was a brilliant general, but, had less success as a President. Eisenhower was a staff officer who regularly dealt with Congress, and, as Supreme Commander, he had the task of organizing the effort, the generals on the ground were Bradley, Patton, and, Montgomery. That, is why Eisenhower had a good presidency. Hodges would make a great secretary of defense, not a president.
