Absolutely true. Ukraine was let down in every way from the time that they agreed for the Russian nuclear weapons on their territory to be removed in the understanding that Ukraine would always be protected by the US & the western world. Then they were not allowed into NATO after they had willingly given up those Russian weapons as they had been promised. So they had lost bargaining power. Ukraine has been used & abused for to long.

What's seriously now coming into Ukraine's favour is that the Russian economy is now very badly damaged because of the war.. and there's no way that Putin can stop the drain or improve the economy.. Russia is now so dependent on China that China is able to extract high advantage in it's designs in eastern parts of the Federation in return for supplying essentials to the Russian economy.. In the coming year, the sanctions, inability to to repair essential infrastructure, the financial drain on the Russian economy of the war, the decimation of the workforce into the front lines, or into the war production, plus the mass emigrations that have taken place will rapidly affect Russia's ability to continue waging the war. That's apart from the damage done by continuous attacks on oil refineries by Ukraine and internally on rail and weapons production facilities by Russian freedom fighters.

Ukraine is among the countries other EU countries can learn from.

Ukraine has to become a member of NATO, and they should have been allowed to be years ago. After 2014 when Russia invaded Crimea. If they had, then this war would not have happened. Instead NATO chose appeasement to Russia. Ukraine has been used as a buffer between the west & Russia without the support & protection it should have been given.

What a lot of people commenting negatively about Ukraine joining NATO failed to realize is that until there is a ceasefire or the war is over Ukraine will not be allowed to enter NATO as one of the rules and guidelines is that the country answering must be free of conflict civil or national. All these people are saying is that they are preparing all of the basic paperwork and preliminary steps so that when the conflict is over in Russia loses then Ukraine can enter NATO faster and easier with treaties and contracts and agreements already in place. It's not brain surgery to understand what they're telling us. There are a lot of hate mongers in this chat room that seem to be pro-russia pro authoritarian regimes. Russia invaded a sovereign Nation there is nothing historical for justified in what they did when it comes to the war they've started with ukraine. They will lose as long as the Allies stand behind Ukraine because the attrition rate on the Russian side is around 1200 troops a day which is unsustainable no matter how much the citizenry chooses to ignore the war.
