I remember getting my first Slash 2wd, the original brushed version with the super high up chassis. That was my first hobby grade RC and I’m still driving it to this day. Although I’m not sure it can still be called the same car seeing as how almost every single part has either been replaced or upgraded.

For anyone reading this, just as an FYI. The audio system has an on-off button on the actual control box. You do not need to unplug it. Furthermore, it has volume up and down buttons on the box as well so you can adjust the volume to your liking. Lastly, the shocks that they were using are not stock. They appear to be blue anodized aluminum shocks from some aftermarket company.

The Slash is awesome!! I've just mounted the 4pole vxl system on it and i must say that even in training mode it's awesome! On expert mode it's ridicolous fast! I love how easy the maintenance goes, very well constructed and thought through. I should have bought this truck years ago.. compared to any other cars i have.. this is an utter good RC!

Ha ha, same here. Bought a Slash after 25 years. Last one I had was a gold associated rc-10. I bought the "slow" one too...plenty fast for your average driver.

U will love it mate they take a flogging and ask for more go Traxxsas not like old RC stuff that breakes every time U touch it I've really bashed mine I can't believe it is one peice still lol

Also, you can control the tilt by holding the brake to tilt forward, or hold the throttle to tilt back.

What suspension are you running on it? I need new shocks for my 3s slash 2wd

Never driven a VXL but have the nitro 2WD Slash. Almost undriveable. But no need for the OBA :-)

& to think the nitros rated at 50 mph the electric vxl rated over 60 plus mph lol Insane!! Like you I have a Nitro T-Max & cant hardly control the power, couldnt imagine 60 plus..

Vxl is traxxas’ abbreviation for their velineon 3s brushless system. Ps velineon is just the name and it’s also manufactured by castle and is made to go straight to traxxas then traxxas uses it. Great vid!

the traxxas sound kits have a volume control setting.

What shocks are you using? I have a slash the same but brushed I'm looking to go brushless but I don't want the car to be out of control got any tips?

70/30 throttle neutral helps me controls wheelies a ton but in most of my vehicles I then need the wireless module to dial down the braking with only 30% movement to use.

Vxl (velineon extreme brushless power system) is the brushless combo that comes with the truck

Turned my 2wd slash into a brushless vlx3s with tsm and my racing skills sucked and now i absolutely love the thing

I've got a slash 4x4, 2wd and a rustler, ALL VXL and they have all broke several times. Be prepared to upgrade plastic parts with aluminum parts. Still a blast!

Yeah the Rustler or Stampede is what I prefer but Hell Yeah those things are great.

Thats what I love about my Slash 4x4. You can smash the throttle and it just takes off, no flipping over lol

No the problem is the air getting under the body. I have a 2wd that I put a castle esc and motor in. It would almost try to take off like theirs too. After doing some digging on reddit everyone recommended taking a dremmel and making a ton of holes on the back side of the body. Fixed the problem completely. I even had the low cg chassis on it and it was doing that.

Is a 5800 mah battery cell good for a slash vxl 2wd?

I have an all carbon fiber, custom 2wd slash drag car running on 6s with no stability control lol. Its a handful, and I keep destroying transmissions. But its the most fun vehicle I have for sure. Its actually really stable the way I have it set up.

Air is getting trapped under the body. Make a few holes using a dremmel in the body towards the back. This will allow the air to escape and help cool the esc a little bit too. I'm sure there are a lot of guys who've done this to their stadium truck bodies on KZread and can explain it better.

I wish I had bought the VXL 2WD instead of the XL5 2WD. But at the time I didn't think I'd enjoy the hobby as much as I am. I upgraded the motor and ESC to a cheap Gool RC 3900 kv system which isn't anywhere near as powerful as the Velenion system, but still has good top speed and allot more punch then the Titan 12 turn. But if anyones deciding on buying the XL5 or VXL Traxxas anything just get the VXL. You get adjustable tie rods, full ball bearings and a better radio system. This is all for about $130 more then a XL5 equivalent. The cost of upgrading an XL5 to VXL Spec just isn't worth it in the long run in my opinion. You get such a great deal and actually end up saving hundreds by purchasing the VXL model.

I have the Raptor slash and the stock titan broke so I put the vxl in it. I don’t have the tsm system and it’s not that out of control. It’s insanely fast though.

Did you say “you almost went downtown north canton”? You guys in Ohio?! I’m from Orrville if so that’s pretty cool. Just picked up a used 2wd vxl today and like a true gung-ho’er threw the 3s in immediately instead of the 2s and it’s just stupid fast. My road doesn’t have a bunch of traction and it was leaving burnout lines in the road. Sidewalk was just an instant flip to the roof.

Grab a proline Evo SC body for that, the sloped front hood helps keep it glued to the ground at full speed, and less parachuting

Could anyone help me out? I had my slash it is a 1/16 model and I got it about 2 years ago and today I was drifting around in my house and my steering stopped. I look at my car and it was smoking where the steering system is. It stopped steering completely and smells burnt. Could you tell me what I need to do to fix it or what’s wrong. Thanks. It would really help

needs more TRAINS only problem is the stock motors burn up so often that it’s worth going brushless vs buying stock motors over and over

u prolly already know now but there is volume adjustment w the oba... try throwing a hotracing locker in the rear will pull soo much harder w the vxl.. i personally have an xmaxx but also a monster energy edition slash 2wd with oba so im going with all green everything.. i think the castle creations mamba setup would be perfect and colormatch as well... although its prolly gunna be a darker green..

CB Glass III It’s considered a monster truck but it’s much more like a truggy. Only thing I’ve heard about the vxl is that it’s a bit unstable. My buddy has the brushed version and that’s pretty fun, but I’m not sure how different the brushless version is aside from having more power.

I know this is a grave yard post, but the OBA doesn't use nearly any battery power especially with lipo. Even NIMH is fine, dont go spreading false info just because you assume
