Pushing Into Unexplored Areas Of A Large Abandoned Mine Complex - Part 2
What you can see in this video of this abandoned mine should make it pretty clear why we love these unexplored mines so much… Aside from the majesty of seeing something that no other living human being has laid eyes upon, it is amazing to have the “time machine experience” of seeing everything exactly as it was when the last miner walked away a century or more ago. It is fascinating to see what the miners were using and exactly how they were using it.
Not to beat a point to death, but this mine is yet another example of why I encourage people to not strip and loot these historical sites for junk to collect rust in their garage or front yard… What made this unexplored ground special was seeing how much was still down there and seeing precisely how the miners left everything.
As a reminder, this abandoned mine dates back to the 1800s and silver, lead, copper and zinc ore was pulled out of this complex... Several large, abandoned mines connect underground at this site, but the others are totally inaccessible from the surface. The mine we entered from will likely not be accessible for much longer either. We knew that the lower levels of the mine that we entered from were unexplored. So, our goals were to push as deep as possible into this mine and also to see if we could gain access to the neighboring mines.

Several kind viewers have asked about donating to help cover some of the many expenses associated with exploring these abandoned mines. Inspired by their generosity, I set up a Patreon account. So, if anyone would care to chip in, I’m under TVR Exploring on Patreon.
Thanks for watching!

Growing up in California’s “Gold Rush Country” made it easy to take all of the history around us for granted. However, abandoned mine sites have a lot working against them - nature, vandals, scrappers and various government agencies… The old prospectors and miners that used to roam our lonely mountains and toil away deep underground are disappearing quickly as well.
These losses finally caught our attention and we felt compelled to make an effort to document as many of the ghost towns and abandoned mines that we could before that colorful niche of our history is gone forever.
I hope you’ll join us on these adventures!

So good to see a mine with artifacts as they show the hard life the miners lived
Of all the videos I have watched, I must say this is indeed rare and most interesting! All thanks to Justin and Crew!
Virgin mines are the BEST! Excellent explore!!
Bro you guys find and explore some of the most amazing mines! Personally I have to say thank you because being a bigger guy at 6 ft 3 inches and 320 lb it would be pretty damn near impossible for me to go in some of those places that you guys go in. I greatly greatly appreciate you guys and what you're doing and thank you again for so many awesome kick ass videos dude..
A big thank you for this amazing views. I am very pleased that you taking me with you in this wonderfull untouched mine. I am waiting at the winze to go Down with you. Greetings from Germany and the Rammelsberg Mine Yours Frank Galetzka

Yes, that's the difference between a mine (or a part of a mine) that hasn't been explored yet versus one that has gotten at least a little traffic and had people take artifacts out as souvenirs. You can see why we try to find the unexplored stuff!
Outstanding exploration! Such cool finds! Thanks a bunch 🙏
That place is unreal. Love seeing Virgin mines.
Aarrgh! I wish it was next Wednesday already! Loved the table of miscellaneous stuff - frozen in time...
Great mine video Justin, Thanks for sharing.
Your videos are always interesting, but this one is gripping. Thanks for all the hard work.
Cool to see something that hasn’t been plundered by treasure hunters
Absolutely incredible exploration , the mine that keeps on giving , bravo
Truly amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Wow. What an amazing explore. Can't wait for the followup episodes! Great job all.
WOW. Can'i wait to see what this mine has to offer. what a find 😎
I remember seeing a guy attach his abseiling figure eight to a loose rope like that and just as I was saying check your rope he leant back over the edge of the crag...he dropped like a rock. He had attached his gear to the wrong loop of rope without checking and fell about 55 feet straight down (fortunately) into space because the route was overhung. He scared himself so badly he couldnt climb that day , when I looked at the rope and the stretch I worked out that his feet probably touched the ground but he was hanging about 6ft above the ground when I got to him ... I have never seen anyone else crack an alloy figure 8. It took me a good 20minutes to get his rope sorted out because fortuntely it was crossed back over on the figure eight and locked, we used to cross the feed rope behind the exiting end of the rope so it locked and we could use both hands to test holds on new routes without dropping further down the abseil. The accidental cross over for certain saved his legs and probably his life. Pleased to see how careful you guys are when you are roping anything This is a fascinating mine the colours make it look like you are literally walking through sulphides in some areas
I am so giddy for the next videos of this mine! Thank you!! A rare treat to be exact!
8:36 impressive
Amazing! I can't wait for more
Wow.
Now that is an awesome mine. Great video.

Bugger me those rock drops sounded like it hit Metal at the end. They were big Booms I wouldn't expect water, wood or stone to give. Keen for the next one, cheers!
Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Well you guys hid the jackpot here wow good stuff and surprises all over.
Y'all did good on this one.
Once again another fantastic video. I look forward to seeing your videos. I'm currently home for the next 3 months recovering from back surgery and your videos help me escape the pain and boredom of being home bound. Thank you for the adventure and please stay safe to all of your explorers.

I don't know if you addressed this before. What does a good rope and climbing gear, such as you guys use cost?

Figure somewhere ~ $1k , including all the accessories and several hundred feet of 11mm static rope . Don't forget the training , and finding someplace that can properly teach underground SRT can be a challenge .
Amazing artefacts
Nice! Thanks for the extra effort.

Thank you very much, Bryan! Looking forward to having you back... We have a lot of new targets for you!
IIRC buddhists don't turn their swastika's 45 degrees, so that's very likely a reference to Nazi Germany. If this is in Utah then it's not entirely surprising, there were a LOT of German who became mormons (mormons LOVE their blue eyes and blonde hair, as an ex-mo lemme tell ya), and plenty of them also supported Hitler. During the 1930s it actually became an issue how many Americans (especially German immigrants) supported the Nazis/Hitlers rise to power. Because the US knew they might get dragged into the war they began a massive propaganda campaign to demonize nazi's, and paint them as the enemy (one of their few propaganda campaigns that was arguably in the right lol). This mine is simply incredible, and that matchbook had me seriously geeking out! Per usual thanks for sharing!
This was wild!! They just left one day and never came back!! Weird how many of the ore cars tossed around and in odd positions. Definitely some characters making some risqué art… quite a contrast to others with the names of their girlfriends back home!
very cool thank you
5:45 And here we have the X-rated area of the mine lol
6:11 impossible to make out what is on the ore cart :(
Can’t wait man, this one looks immense. Any clues to what their target Lode was?

The nitroglycerin Dynamite at the very beginning was way more subject to exploding by vibration and even today.
Colorful shafts , I liked to see a virgin mine . The swastikas were actually called manji used in Asian countries such as Japan. Thanks for sharing your videos
Meat anchor to the last echo chamber 😂
There's still good ore there almost guaranteed..looks to have just shut down and walked away to come back another day.
Jeremy has no fear does he. Oh to be young and suffering once again from King Kong syndrome, and the confidence you can do pretty much anything, and with the help of good friends. Knowing that there's not much much between you all that you can't do once you all put your mind's to whatever it may be. Nice little adventure y'all have going here, and isn't truly amazing what you can find if others haven't put their greedy little crumb grabbers on everything. Which is stealing from everyone who comes through afterwards. Now if you knew that they're going to blow the entrance denying anyone from ever getting back inside. Then I could better understand the reasons why it was necessary, but then things should be put into some place where everyone could see it, and if the mine was replicated to where it all appeared as it was found all the more better.
Awesome video guys. This Is such a awesome mine. I love everything you are sharing. Do you take artifacts or leave them?

The Silver Club building was still standing in 2020.
The matchbook was probably printed in the late 1900's to mid teens. Everything else container-wise says mid-late 30's.
Sometimes I watch other mine explores and I feel like Im cheating on you
That miner po rn made the trip worth it alone
That place is huge! @9:45 the intrusive thoughts crept in and they said "Doo it! Doo it!" Lol how far down does it go? Any info in the records to it's depth?
Do you guys ever carry avalanche type shovels with you? Collapsable/folding ones; I never see you with one. I carry a shovel every time I drive in the Sierra Nevadas in the winter just in case. Hercules dynamite from Hercules, California. Enjoy! Kurt in Santa Rosa, Ca.
👍
6:57 "That's Jeremy's pack. He was grabbed by a mimic who was then robbed of him by a kobold who then lost him to a mindflayer who was then purloined of Jeremy by a drow. We'll catch up with him later."
Are there black widows and brown recluses in that rotting wood? Or would there simply not be enough bugs for them to survive on that far down?

Beautiful minerals, funky art and me admiring how you guys keep your cameras clean! How many calories do you guys take with you on average? Thank you very much!
@TVRExploring

The cameras actually don't stay clean at all. They frequently need to be replaced. I haven't tracked the number of calories we bring, but it is probably less than you might expect. I also have found that I drink very little in the way of liquids underground either. It is extremely physically demanding and your body kind of just puts the normal discomforts of thirst and hunger to the side. I've done brutal underground explores of more than 18 hours on just a couple of Snickers bars before, for example.

@@TVRExploring Sounds you operate like I do overground on day hikes. Thank you! Sincerely hope your content will be used for future research on the history of mining in the US.

A Google search of M.Y.M. Mine shows a location in Douglas County, Colorado. Possible?
@TVRExploring

It's pretty far away, but anything is possible. When we were sourcing equipment for our mine, we were looking as far as several states away...
Those Swastika, here is a little about them curtasy of Wiki The swastika (卐 or 卍) is an ancient religious and cultural symbol, predominantly found in various Eurasian cultures, as well as some African and American ones. In the western world it is more widely recognized as a symbol of the German Nazi Party who appropriated it from Asian cultures starting in the early 20th century. The appropriation continues with its use by neo-Nazis around the world. The swastika never stopped being used as a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Indian religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It generally takes the form of a cross,[A] the arms of which are of equal length and perpendicular to the adjacent arms, each bent midway at a right angle.
Do u have a dog with u? Cos at 2:20 I hear a bark
I have an honest question: you state that you are documenting these mines for history, but you also keep all the locations (well, most) a secret. This just seems disingenuous in my opinion.
@TVRExploring

I go back and update the videos with the name of the mine and all details that I know when I confirm that they have been destroyed. Last year, I updated eleven videos on mines that have been destroyed and there is now a full record of what used to be at these historical sites. Eventually, all of the videos will be there... Until then, I am not going to assist the contractors and government agencies enjoying the lucrative business of destroying these historical sites or the individuals that seek to loot what little is left at these sites. Perhaps you're unfamiliar with the full consequences of sharing locations?
You are very wrong, dynamite can explode even if wet over many years. You can take a chance of stomping on it, but wait till your partners are out if the mine. And say your prayers first, You might get a chance to live, your choice.

Frank from Exploring Abandoned Mines exploded very wet, very old dynamite. Thank god he chose not to hang out in the area of the mine he left it at. Wasn't as inert as you'd expect!

Yeah , I wouldn't go kicking that box or tossing rocks at it . It might still be angry after all these years . I wouldn't even touch it , mostly because I know the special delights of a nitro headache . Used to buy dynamite , cap , fuses , etc , at the local hardware store before the Karen Invasion . Yeah , PROBABLY it's inert ( ish ) after all these years , but , on the off chance it isn't , I'm just moving on quickly and quietly ...
