Thanks for putting up this great review. I've needed a bit of assistance finding some new stuff in the genre to check out and after watching this I'm definitely grabbing a copy of Black Swan as soon as the CDs are available

Welcome back to KZread, I've missed you! I wasn't familiar with Push/Button/Press prior to this video, but I love me some post-punk, and as a guitarist, creative guitar lines are always appreciated! I'll definitely be looking into their music going forward. Fantastic review! (Also, "Andrew Eldritch refusing to admit that his music is goth somehow makes him more goth" made me laugh out loud!)

Returning here to thank you so much for exposing this incredible band to me and I since shared them to my friends. We are in love! Cheers from Richmond, Virginia (home of Edgar Allen Poe) :)

Its great to see you back Kelly! Hopefully you're doing well in the near future. I'm glad that I stumbled on your channel to be honest. It's quite hard to find a goth culture in my country, the Netherlands. It almost dried out....safly. The subculture is very small and almost died out, luckily the culture is quite blooming in our neighbor country Germany. Thanks to your channel and others a like, I can explore more about this beautifuly dark world. Hopefully I csn find some more Dutch goth people after the pandamic and its lock downs. I wish you the very best of luck!

@CadaverKelly what country do you think goth music is most listened to, and what country do you think goth music is not listened to much? Could you make a tier list video where you rank countries that listens to goth music please? If you do it I will subscribe to your channel and tell others to subscribe to your channel to

Great review! Love the record as well. Preordered back then, and it sure holds up. May have to review it on my insta account. We'll see ... We seem to share a like for bands with distinctive sounds, not one more copy of xyz. You might like Bestial Mouths or Diavol Strain for similar reasons. SDH/Semiotics Department of Heteronyms is similarly idiosyncratic but in the minimal synth arena.

Hi! i'm curious if you have any opinions on old goth Polish bands like Closterkeller or Artrosis? I saw you have Belgrado in your vinyl collection, so I guessed you enjoy Polish vocals.

So I put on this album and was enjoying it, then I got to the track "Spectacle" and was hit with the line "treacherous reptilian the ones who swindle you." I'm not sure how familiar you are with the origins of lines like this, but they're super common in anti-semitic conspiracy theories. I was absolutely shocked to hear it. I went back and listened to the song again just in case I was missing something. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would use lines like that in this day & age. If anyone can let me know more information I'd be grateful.

I’m not sure the context of the lyrics but if it’s any consolation, I can assure you that the band is in no way anti-Semitic. They are very progressive-minded musicians who do not shy away from expressing that when it comes to social and political matters.

@@CadaverKelly that’s good to know. I’m trying to figure out the best way to contact the band to let them know about that line and its upsetting connotations. In case anyone sees this and thinks I’m making things up or blowing it out of proportion, a few simple searches will give you a wealth of information. Even popping the line I quoted into Google will get you some pretty upsetting results.

The line was probably inspired from Brendan Perry's song "Bogus Man". Spectacle is inspired by the book "Society of the Spectacle" by Guy Debord.

@@JimJWalker Thanks for taking the time to reply, Jim. I want you to know that I am absolutely not accusing you of being anti semitic. Unfortunately, anti semitic dog whistles have ended up in your song. I read the lyrics to "Bogus Man" and had the same "eeehhhh" reaction. That plus Dead Can Dance's odd decision to post a long anti-Israel essay by a controversial historian (not that it doesn't have some valid points, it's just terribly one-sided) on their Facebook has me giving them a serious side-eye. I ask nothing of you except that perhaps you look into the history of calling Jews "reptiles" and "lizard people" and the very deeply rooted history of accusing them of controlling the world's finances.

@@salyx My lyrics are meant to be thought provoking! So if they have sent you down a rabbit hole than I am very flattered. Please trust that "the ones..." I mention in the song are not any particular group, but a metaphor for power and privilege.
