He slipped his cuffs to the front and the Trooper also is well aware of what he’s got in his car and also what goes on in it because he’s got cameras there. The dude is only making things worse on himself in the end.

I can't believe the cops either didn't notice or didn't care that he had converted his handcuff position. That's a big no-no.

ask a trooper and he'll tell you, anything a perp does in the back seat is an additional charge. Being in the back seat of a squad car in cuffs is the same as being in jail before the booking process. They'll deal with the cuff shuffler when they get him out of the car. Phone is contraband, same as any other item prohibited in jail. Everything he says on the phone is evidence.

Aside from the handcuff thing that lots of people noticed, I learned a long time ago never to let a suspect have unsupervised access to a phone in the field. What if you are working alone and your perp makes a call to say, about a dozen of his closest Homies, and he tells them to load up the guns and come get you, either where you are right then, or where you're headed like the hospital. That could be a bad day for your wife and kids. I hope the Trooper's supervisor will remind him of this after things calm down a bit.

Agree with leebomccool8997. I opted out of showing the forward facing camera so we could see all of the drivers backseat moves. There were 3 ASP TROOPERS, 1 ASP SGT and at least 1-2 other local PD units on scene.

These troopers didn't even search this guy. He could have been armed! Very dangerous! Shifting the cuffs from the rear to the front, talking to someone on his phone and rummaging through the troopers things is an attempt at escaping. This would have been at least "2 unpaid weeks on the beach" in my department as well as a "break in service" which would end any chances of a promotion for 5 years. As for the perp? This is when a "box and waist chain" are used with leg irons. Special treatment for special perps.

He was searched, they just didn't reach way up his crack which I'm sure you don't either. The phone call and the cuffs to the front is just evidence for those charges, anyone every escape your cuffs or get out of your backseat? He didn't either. There are 50 sets of Troopers and each has their own policies, that's just the way it is.

The handcuffs we use here Canada has a link on the chain to clip to their pants to prevent these guys from bringing their hands to the front

Complains about his ankle while pulling his feet through his cuffed hands. Complains about how tight the cuffs are that they are cutting his wrists. He cut his own wrists when he pulled his feet through his cuffed hands. Making a phone call and is talking about how his is going to fain injury so he can get to a hospital so he can escape. Tries to get his girl to pick him up at the hospital. Need to arrest the girl for conspiring to assist in an escape. This POS needs to have the book thrown at him and then thrown UNDER the jail!

You can tell that he has been a crook forever.

At least there isn't space available where he could squeeze himself up to the front of the squad car and take off in it, situation like that happened in Colorado recently and the perp wound up having a wreck with a flatbed semi and died from his injuries sustained in the accident. Apparently there is a window that can be opened for ventilation and it was a big enough for the perp to squeeze through and drive off after getting his cuffs from behind his back to in front of himself. I tend to like the cuffs the British police use. They have a solid bar in between the bracelets and they hook your hands one above the other and the solid bar is in between your hands, so there is no way you would be able to get them to the front unless they put them there.

I remember 40 years ago in my first LE job. My Lieutenant, who had a reputation for being tough on criminals and I were walking into the jail. We had a bunch of arrestees just milling around, and I said we should lock them all up and throw away the key, more in frustration than anything. He shocked me when he replied, "Oh no, what we should do is put them on an island with a nice temperature, fresh water, and all the good food they can eat. We should let them play games and exercise all day." I was shocked and could not believe my ears until he finished with, "Until some decent person needs an organ transplant." Now that is hard core!

The cop missed the cell phone on his search, it could have been a weapon, allowed the arrestee to manipulate the cuffs to the front without re-handcuffing, and allowed him full access to his personal gear in the back seat. The ASP may be great drivers and great at the TVI, but their officer safety and tactics need to be revisited as this is not the first time I have seen bad habits by them. Stay safe and work smarter.

He's running pretty fast to have a broken ankle.

This is one hokey operation, 1st one ever in Arkansas on these videos. He wasnt properly searched to have a phone, could of had a weapon. The officer ignored him changing handcuff position. If foot is broke how do you twist enough to change handcuff position. The paperwork right next to him could have had a paperclip to get him free. He has visitors? Who are the people coming by and hugging him.

Fascinating look into the criminal mind. This soft trooper is very lucky to be alive. Someone needs to monitor the backseat cameras. If you saw No Country For Old Men, you know what he can do with those forward facing cuffs.

Did anyone else see the guy in the distance walks from behind the silo, then can be seen by a doorway, and walks back, then a black suv drives away? I've decided that the suv is the same one that drove by in the near background is a LEO vehicle 15:35 - 16:00. approx.

I really don't understand why he wasn't handcuffed with his hands behindhim. He did a good job of ransacking that Trooper's cruiser. I hope that gets another chargeput on him.
