Pursuing the Judicial Fellowship at the ICJ

This is a session, with Kritika Sharma, on pursuing the Judicial Fellowship at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the application process, and tips for it, what the program entails, her experience with the fellowship, and opportunities during and post the Fellowship.
Kritika Sharma, a 2016 graduate of Amity Law School, completed her LLM in Advanced Studies in Public International Law from Leiden University in 2017. She was a Judicial Fellow at the ICJ from 2017 to 2018 and is currently a PhD student at Leiden University and a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute, Luxembourg, for Procedural Law. About the Judicial Fellowship at the ICJ:
Formerly known as the University Traineeship Programme at the ICJ, the Programme was established in 1999 to enable recent law graduates to gain experience working at the ICJ. It is similar to a judicial clerkship or judicial assistantship. It aims to improve participants’ understanding of international law and of the Court’s procedures by actively involving them in the work of the Court and allowing them to build on their experience under the supervision of a judge. The Court encourages universities to propose candidates who have excellent results in their law studies and who have demonstrated an interest in international law through their studies, publications or work experience.
