The compelling reason that domestic abuse victims will not leave their pets is that the abuser will usually turn to the pet to abuse.

So are they helping male victims of domestic abuse as well? Men are victims of abusive women as well. But they don't get the help they deserve. Men are laughed at if they report domestic abuse and they are told they cannot be victims. There have also been cases where a man calls to report that he is being abused by his wife or girlfriend and then he is arrested after she lies and said that he is the one abusing her or just in general. Men are automatically assumed to be guilty.

It's all in the demographics. More than twice as many women are abused. I agree male domestic abuse needs more attention. Until they are taken more seriously they will be overlooked. Generally the abuse by men over women is not only more common it is more serious. A man's greater strength, and the traditional mindset of male superiority and control causes much more serious injury to women.
