In the third and final instalment of La Sportiva Living Legends Season 2 we travel to the province of Lleida in Spain, the home of former world champion lead climber Patxi Usobiaga.
Known as the most motivated climber in the climbing world we follow Patxi in his attempt to send his hardest route to date, Pachamama 9a+/b.
Patxi first attempted the route back in 2009, and now 8 years later, with a car crash and a complete break from climbing behind him, Patxi is ready to take on the route that changed his life.

This. That was a massive build up for... a drone flyby. Epic tries very hard to be artistic, and fails to show the climbing a lot of the time.

It's just a funny trick as Patxi would be invisible: we can see his reflection in the mirror and the water tap moving but he doesn't stand in the front of the tap.

I first tried it 8 years ago. All of my injuries and my 2+ year break from climbing happened after that first try. I started trying again after sending Papichulo in the spring, took a break from that wall in the summer, and started trying again in september 2017. The send date was almost exactly 8 years after I knocked my shoulder out of socket on the route.
What is incredible is when you think it only took Ondra 5 or 6 attempts to send it... In any case, coming back from that car crash is a wonderful thing.
What was the model of La Sportiva approach shoes he was wearing??? The soles looked like Altra Superiors...

If could make 500/600 euro per month climbing i would do it full time...everyday! I am doing it for free everyday now anyways...:D
