Mate, do you think that it would be helpful to actually find a Mana Burn pack and test how much mana do you lose on hit. What is the point of this lvl 99 Infinity Griffons 2 SoJ 40x 17 mana scs otherwise? Come on, man, start thinking about what your viewers need, and not what you like to do. This content is completely irrelevant to 95% of your viewers.

I've always favored survivability when my Merc dies so I run with an infinity scythe/low level polearm and throw on more dmg and mama gear with a 105 BP like frostburns, chains of honor/enigma, lightning skillers, and mana scs. 5/5 lightning/p sapphire in griff, soj and fcr ring. Cta/memory off hand. Insight on Merc. Would love it if you could cover this build running with obsession rw on main hand. Mana burn/drain packs were in this run so it looks like es is viable again, but would have been cool if you pointed that out in the video and took a few hits from the pack to show that they fixed mana burn. Also, thanks for pointing out that 40 is max es. But what about telekinesis? What's the max for tk? I'll have to look it up again, I forget.

I was testing the es nova sorc yesterday and I solved all my issues with poison by just keeping a row of antidote pots. Never had to worry about life potions at all even on p8. This is my new favorite build ever

Use a prayer Merc. Combats poison so well. Since u have low hp, it acts like redemption. Fast ho Regen.

You should add a leveling segment to your videos. What gear you would use along with skills, such as leveling with X skill and X gear then switching. Like low level tier. Mid level tier. And end game. There's plenty of videos about god mode ideal setup that many will never get. :) Edit: I like the build and versatility. Would be cool if you discover other good skill variants with max ES

It's a great budget option for early ladder key farming and also for Nightmare cows for jewelry. Thanks a lot for the video, it solved a lot of my doubts regarding how Energy Shield and Telekinesis worked!

Great video, 5k Mana is crazy, try to incorporate crescent moon to increase your clear speed, sol runes in my griffons and skin of viper allow you to have less into energy shield. I have around 3k mana with inventory of lightning skillers after battle orders. The integer DMG reduction is what will completely negate damage done to your health pool. You're the real og dbrunski. Love your connect and breakdown of builds.

I've been playing 200fcr lightning sorceress as a max ES + TK build for a long time and love it, the damage is certainly lacking compared to a vita build, but I never have to pot, don't need Phoenix on switch, and am as tanky as a hammerdin. She's super fun. I love the number of options available in the class

In early 2000 I was sent a game, to play the 1st 3 levels and provide feedback on what I thought. That game was called D2. Now 20 years later and it’s still being played. Fantastic, so exciting to see fixes to bugs leading to ES actually being a meta choice. That said, if you popped your spirit shield from your main hand real quick to the cta then buff, Put it back on main hand then switch cta to memory and ES, you could squeak out another +2 to your BO. Good timing! I just built mine yesterday. I went for the 105 fcr breakpoint, using Phoenix (which is insane). HoTO, faceted Griffs, 2x SoJ's, Arachs, Frostys, 1/20 sorc ammy (don't have a 2/20), CoH, silkweaves, then enough skillers to get to 40 ES after CtA buff. I do just over 5k Nova damage. No memory staff needed which is handy. I miss the 200fcr teleporting, but dear lord does this build shred mob packs. And Phoenix for the Redemption aura makes the build so tanky.

Just a minor suggestion, I've found stacking mana regen with items like magefist can be helpful for max energy builds. It's like having a free constant mana potion

When you already have warmth giving you 200% + regen the 20% from magefist is probably going to give you less mana per second than increasing the pool size with the frosties.

@@nathanpapp432 Magefist do have 20% FCR and that's where they will shine. Frostburns will absolutely be a better option if you are meeting FCR elsewhere.

Also tested a few different versions of this build over the weekend! The max damage 200FCR version with faceted eschuta's, faceted nova ormus, faceted griffs and 2 high mana FCR rings with a full skiller inventory clears p8 chaos faster and safer than any build I've ever tried. 5500-7200 nova @ 200FCR is nuts.

I've been a long-time tester of ES builds throughout USEast L/NL, and I'd say that Hoto is usually a better pick than wizardspike... yeah it's much more difficult if you're going for 200% fcr, but 117 BP works just fine.. and using frostburn gauntlets, hoto, and also if you can get your hands on crafted boots with res alonside +50-60 mana is an absolute insane increase on your total mana.

117 is for non-Nova light builds. Nova's breakpoints are 105/200

@Canberk the context is ES lite sorcs in general.. nova isn't mandatory and generally speaking standard building for lightning and CL... I do also think 9x life/lite GCs are better than a wall of x/17mana scs... If you really want to focus on nova builds i'd recommend using an infinity scythe

How do feel about using ES on a hydra sorc instead of pumping enchant and then putting some stat points into mana? Sort of a hybrid life/mana es build

8:53, I think you should have compared the absorb% with a spirit shield + cta (because that's what you'd normally have been wearing to weight against memory) and it wouldn't have been 88% to 95, it would have been less of a gap because of the spirits +2 all skills. Great video, very entertaining as always.

IMO this build is better when you are using the infinity with an insight merc and life skillers instead of all mana scs. Really excited to see ES become potentially top tier!

I agree! Infinity w/ Insight at 105 FCR. Use Frostburn, 2/20, Vmagi, Mana FCR Ring, Mana Boots. I recall with a perfect setup you can get around 2K Life and 4K mana. I’d also use a 3 ES / Frozen Armor CTA Staff so you don’t have to swap to memory.

If I wanted to try to utilize t-storm and use whatever points are left spread best into tk/es afterwards , what would the spread of life/mana stats look like optimally?

reminds me of back in the day, maxed mana shield and max block with high dr, was my anti druid and necro killer

This is just about one of the small handful of builds that I want to dedicate to apart from my bowazon.

Enigma is quite strong on this build as well. The +14 life after each kill instantly replenishes the hp. Not to mention +2 skills, huge strength boost, and decent MF.

Tbh i would use enigma only for the +2skills and mf, main hand would be infinity scythe 105fcr with eni :) Sol run is really nice with ES builds and you only need poison resistance (bypasses es) or antidote on your belt. Merc with prayer+ insight will be way more beneficial.

@@Diablo2Arena There's definitely tradeoffs. But as many have pointed out, resistances other than poison doesn't matter. Can solve that with some 11% PSN res sc. As for the 200 fcr, you are sacrificing a lot of damage that can affect your clear speed. Opting for 105 fcr can offer a lot more flexibility in your gear. Can consider amulets that give +3 lightning w/ 35 mf, can equip frostburns for huge mana boost, enigma for skills, mf, survivability. Also can equip dual sojs for more skills.

I was thinking to myself, how can we build an energy shield sorc with the "Mana Burn" bug, glad that is out of the picture now! Thanks for the video!

ide love to see a video on the 2.4 hydra, not sure if its good enough after they rolled back some of the buffs to it :(

Infinity mancatcher (most versatile base for merc, zon etc... for us plebs who wont have multiple) and insight prayer merc (the regen is strong with the trickle of hp damage you take) will likely be the best combo unless you want might for killing the few lightning immunes. Best balance of damage/defense. Nova being at below 200FCR is also more mana efficient if you want to look at it that way.

lets say were only like lvl 85-90 and dont have enough skill points… would you max your energy shield & telekinesis or would you max your damage output first?

Currently loving the new survivability and viability of my Blizz+Orb sorc with 55% ES and some ~12 points in telekinesis.

do you think max energy shield and TK and mana with zero health would work on a zeal sorc? im worried im trying to balance leach and dmg stats too much on my loot and losing out on bonus mana.

Is frozen orb really viable with this build? Or is it better to split between blizzard and frozen orb now that they don't share cooldowns?

Pretty cool build, but I think it would be very valuable, especially with the looming start of the season, to start highlighting budget build versions more. Griff with infinity merc and full inventory of charms will make any lightning sorc pretty good, but most people will not be able to afford that for some time and it would be good to see how this build would perform with something more realistic for the start of the season.

Nice video but if you wanna take it 1 step further and truely unlock the power of es. Look into damage reduce or magic damage reduce with max res and sorb. Not dr% but flat dr. Sol runes are your best friend. Glad bane and gerke shield are all op. Plus getting your res cap over 75 is ideal. I can sit in the middle of baal wave 5 on players 8 and take no damage lol.

This. There are a lot of fun things you can do like use Que hegans for magic reduction and fhr, sols or mals in sockets. The biggest thing is psn . This would be the case where 95 psn res and or psn length reduction is useful.

Es frozen orb is solid build imo dump extra points into chain lighting or fireball for immunities.

What are your thoughts on running it as a HydraOrb sorc?

what about putting insight in a bow and using enchant/energy shield? are there items besides bows that let you use a bow skill as a sorc?

Is it more effective to equip low str Infinity and put Insight on a prayer merc with 105 fcr??

Hey what merc aura do you use ? Well no response typical. I tried prayer does awesome.

I've been enjoying hand held infinity with an insight Merc. The only bane I have is with poison. Otherwise I can handle p8 games with ease. Usually two rounds of static and you can finish the mob in short time. Helm griff with light facet Vipermagi with 35 res and 13 mdr with a sol rune for 7 damage reduction Arach Trek boots for psn resist Two SOJ Crafted sorc amulet 2-10 with damage reduction Main weapon is Handheld infinity scythe Switch is a cta with lidess Anni, gcs, and torch At the end, has about 5k nova. Not including the extra damage from -light res. 3k mana with a 1100 hp pool.

I wonder if there's an easy way to farm a +3 energy shield staff. The white staves from merchants on normal difficulty probably aren't high level enough to have 4 slots.

is it possible to run this with the lightning skill instead of nova? would it be as strong?

Wow this video just arrive at the right time. I started my nova sorcs energy shield 2 days ago and I didnt continue because I play hardcore and im lvl 16 and its really hard with 10 vitality. I probably should play fire sorcs with Leaf until lvl 24, damn. But now I know that sorcs is totally viable, thank you

Looks really fun!

I'd collect those pieces of gear that cast novas and hydras in retaliation when the character is struck and then aim to pick up sets like hwanin's majesty and heaven's brethren so I could have fun playing around with melee strikes that proc even more sorceress skills. There are a ton of items to hunt down for that kind of setup in every difficulty and runewords to craft all the way through too

Worth noting that resistances other than poison don’t really matter for max energy ES builds, which is great for gearing/charms.

Wouldn't say that for HC, they still protect your puny health pool from the portion of damage that goes through ES. Maybe flat absorb/reduction would be a better alternative though.

​@@brakpseudonimu236 I would say that the sorc both life globe and mana globe goes down so you have more time to manage both life and mana. With ES it's always manafirst... And if you dont invest in ES, you obviously put more points in Vita. Or put more in dex to block. The main problem that I have with ES are resistances. Otherwize I love it

I used one as a BM dueler years and years ago with an infinity sythe. You can also make the indestructible sorc with the right gear. Crap is funny as hell.

For Life you could use a prayer desert merc, which is totally sufficient for the damage that is coming in

is runeword obsession possible for this build right now or only when ladder begins?

I am using Inferno due to flickering flame, you can do it as well a Phoenix sword actually out damages +2 skills from something for it as well, and that makes you basically immortal when fighting groups thanks to Redemption and Magefist works very well for the build increasing your mana regen. It's almost a wash with Frostburns according to the math, but Frostburns is better. In any case, it's not a big drop to go down to Magefist.

You put out the most awesome video's, but the thing is once 99 I never used again unless to help someone out.

Im quite casual. Got a 84 blizz sorcs, but nothing else..would i be better of switching for Nova sorc in 2.4 ?

I would always go with 105fcr tho. Enigma for 14lpk, hoto, arach, trang and griff. I would also use SS instead of spirit for the 35%dr. Im HC, found that very helpful. Aswell as i would use light sks with 35+life.

Use Act2 prayer merc with Insight and get as many poison res charms as u can.

Havent finished video yet so not sure if you cover this or not. There are so many items that reduce phys+magic damage and "damage goes to mana" mods that you can actually build an ES sorc that is virtually invincible on p8. The %dmg goes to mana mods are insane when you have 5k mana and all incoming damage is reduced with other mods heals you, along with absorb mods and of course warmth skill

Go for the Immortal ES Build, throw on a Gerke's Sanctuary and a few SOL runes into your Viper/Skullders/Shako/ETC to stack MDR and DR. I've been running the Immortal Blizz Sorc in HC for the past 2 months with ease and now with the 2.4 Mana Burn bugged fixed she is invincible. I use an Elder Staff +9 Memory just because it only takes up 4 slots in the cube and enables room for the Spirit Monarch / CTA swap. I opted to have a little bit more life on my Sorc since its Hardcore. The ratio is about 2.5 Energy to 1 Vitality Stat Ratio. After BO I have 1.7k Life / 3.3k Mana / 4.9K Blizzard Dmg / -125 CM / 105 FCR Break / 305 MF / Max Res / 34 DR / 44 MDR. Max Telekinesis and 10 Points into ES for 90% Absorb. I opted to fill my inventory with Life and Mana charms, example +40 Life / 59 Mana GC's. In most P8 Baal games, Chaos is completely cleared and I am back in the Throne for Wave 4, unless Lord De Seis decides to run a marathon. Its not as fast as an Infinity Lightning Sorc but still pretty efficient and inexpensive build.

​@@lolleonlolable A Stormshield on an ES Sorc? I don't think so...maybe for a Max Block Vita Sorc. The 35% damage reduced is only applied after your ES absorbs 95% of it. You should actually try out the Immortal Sorc build above and then you will truly feel like this game is broken.

tip: if u r using memory, you can also shop for staff with +to frozen armor to save one skill point.

can you make a cheap orb es version of it ? shako, viper, wizzy/occy/spirit sw, spirit shield, some +3cold random amul, arach, torch, no anni ? giving it an exemple of a potential quick after reset build

Flat DR is absolutely the way.

Why use Trang's over Frostburn or Magefist? The only other decent stat on those gloves for this build is the cold res, but is that really a deal breaker over the other two options?

I would say instead of sapphires use perfect skulls. The replenish life if you have 85-95% energy shield actually just negates the rest of the damage you take. Plus it's also like having +1 to warmth. Dol runes work too for +7 replenish.

YO BRO im runnig 200fcr but cant get amu 2 20 so I have to sacrafice mana pool from 2xsojs and run 2xfcr rings to meet 200 breakpoint. I had mana issues but I use your advice and put skulls inside griffon and viper and is amazing problem with mana is gone. GG DUDE !!!! Thanks for advice!!!

If you ask me, when Nova would do a abit more Damage like 6-7k per Cast, then it would be definitly better then a Hammerdin or Fohdin, because you're really tanky and for me it makes way more fun then a Hammerdin or a Fohdin. I farm all my Areas like 50% faster then before, but nice Guide! :)

Here is a quick bench I ran with Nova Obsession @105FCR: kzread.info/dash/bejne/omWWp8ZmdNGwmbg.html 200% FCR is probably better for P1 content, but I like the consistency and extra stats we can get with 105% thus far.

I played this setup sometimes in LOD. However, the difficulty of LOD is not so high that a defensive setup would be worthwhile (at least for SC). For HC this might be a good choice. I think pure attack is still the way to go.

How does he switch back and forth between teleport and nova when teleport doesn't have a shortcut assigned?

what are the stats for telekinesis?? doesn't it end at lvl ~20. I think on diablo wiki they provide no more info after a certain lvl for the telek synergy

What about going for the 105 FCR BP, wielding Infinity, and having an Insight merc? Seems like you'd be truly invincible then.

How do resists work with energy shield and taking element damage?

Hi~ I'm working on similar settings, can you tell me why I'm wearing trang wool gloves?

Do you think the manaburn fix makes it a good idea for ALL kinds of sorces to one-point-wonder into mana shield? Or will mana shield still only be something for a specific build?

ES is only worth it if you have enough skill points to max out Telekinesis. Otherwise it will burn your mana away. Build who reach their max dmg potential with 3 skills are Nova Sorc (Nova+Static+Light Mastery) and Orb (Orb+Synergy+Cold Mastery). Not sure about fire builds, maybe Hydra.

Is max Shield Block also good?

Inferno/ES would be interesting, warmth being a synergy for inferno would be a nice addition to ES.

Energy shield is one of the cooler and more complicated skills in the games, lots of tradeoffs to be made. I'd say carry health pots b/c poison dmg goes right through ES. Personally I would use magefists b/c I think in this case mana regen > cold res for sure. ES also good for enchant sorcs. Can also be really nice to get some replenish life on an ES sorc, counteracts psn dmg and a pretty low amount of it can keep you topped off w/o pots since you generally take very little damage to life. P skulls are good b/c they have both mana regen % and replenish life. Also damage reduce / magic damage reduce can be super good. Damage taken goes to mana can also be nice to have, but the higher your ES % is the less valuable it is. I'd like to see how fast a fixed mana burn elite pack takes down your mana. Personally, I thought ES was viable even before the fix, but there's no doubt this could be a big buff.

Some variant of ES nova sorc is my end goal PVM character. Nova and energy shield are both badass skills, so glad they buffed nova to be viable again.

To be honest the manaburn bug, while very annoying, wasn't as terrible as everyone made it out to be (unless you play hardcore or want to farm certain areas where manaburn is more commonplace). Don't get me wrong, I love the fix, but as someone that's been playing ES sorcs off and on since v1.00 the change I'm *actually* stoked about is Nova getting buffed, because ES sorc's real problem has always been finding a Goldilocks skill that 1) doesn't need that many points (TK+ES+Warmth take a lot of your skill budget), 2) leverages your massive mana pool, and 3) lets you capitalize on a high FCR teleporting ES sorc's somewhat unique style of tankiness (ie. a mix of blinding speed by "tele dodging" combined with the ability to tank big bursts). Nova was always that perfect skill but it got shafted in v1.10 (outside of speedrunning normal difficulty) and I'm 100% with you that I'm loving the idea of pairing up these fun skills again.

@@overture2112 Yup I agree. I personally was never much of an ES player back in LOD but it wasn’t because of the mana burn bug. ES was always cool to me because it always tended to symbolize a high end player. You couldn’t ever just wing ES with random gear, effectively anyways…
