The story of this novel begins with a train journey. A grumpy old man in Captain Hanod's compartment. There is also a man and a girl. Hameed Asni keeps teasing the old jerk as per his nature. Sometimes he keeps targeting that fat man too, but when that girl addresses him as "Sajid Bhai", his skull freezes and then when the same girl confronts him in Kuwar Amar Singh's mansion. When she is also seen, Hameed's astonishment increases even more.
इस उपन्यास की कहानी एक रेल यात्रा से शुरू होती है। कैप्टन हनोद के डिब्बे में एक चिड़चिड़ा बूढ़ा आदमी। एक आदमी और एक लड़की भी है. हमीद असनी अपने स्वभाव के अनुसार बूढ़े ठरकी को छेड़ते रहते हैं। कभी-कभी वह उस मोटे आदमी को भी निशाना बनाता रहता है, लेकिन जब वह लड़की उसे 'साजिद भाई' कहकर संबोधित करती है, तो उसकी खोपड़ी ठिठक जाती है और फिर जब वही लड़की कुँवर अमर सिंह की हवेली में उससे भिड़ जाती है। जब वह भी नजर आती है तो हमीद का आश्चर्य और भी बढ़ जाता है.
