He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book kzread.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.

The very first thing you do when you take a puppy from a crate it to let it out to pee, THEN do whatever else you are going to do to get her back to sleep. Puppies cry when they want to get out to pee, so you have to learn to tell the difference between loneliness and a full bladder.

I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide kzread.infoUgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYk0d is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!

I got my pup when she was 8 weeks and I immediately introduced her to the crate. I put toys in it and she went in and out as she pleased. I kept her crate by my bed. Her 1st time sleeping in it she whined but I just put my hands in and rubbed her while saying "Good girl." She stopped whining within 3 minutes. Within a week she stopped whining. I only use it for bedtime since there's someone always home. Now I think she goes in there to get away from us...lol.

I wouldn’t just chuck my dog in a crate and sit and watch it. let them explore it first with the door open. chucking them in the crate and locking the door can make them anxious. everytime they react well to the crate give them a treat, let them now that their reaction to the crate is good. once they have explored a bit let them walk in the crate and feed them a treat through the walls with the door still open. then try it with the door closed. slowly increase the time the door is closed until your dog is comfortable with being in the crate. after, let them out and play. this lets them know that they will be let out of the crate. simple ;)

You sound just like that typical person Stonnie Dennis on youtube training dogs was on about. "Oh my dog loves the crate, he walks in all by himself" What dog would care to be in a crate if you put it outside - it would never ever choose to go into that crate. You have killed the living days light out of it in order for it to realise it better like it cos it ain't got a choice until it does!!! Honestly, some people are thick. It's cruel and they don't need it.

My mom's training was putting the toys in, letting the puppy relax and ignore them. lol... She had the door open at all times and they relaxed after a while. Everything was fine until we had a husky, he was confined for an hour after flying through her training. She then came back to find the crate smashed to pieces with the husky laying in the middle. That pretty much killed any chance of us using a crate again.

Never needed to do this with my GSD. He loves and thrives outside and as a puppy he’d go into his doghouse himself if he was tired, with free will to come out whenever he chooses. I’m not abusing or abandoning him. He hates it indoors, and I’m there for him all day and most of the night, except the 5 hours I get shut-eye. Is it neglect if it’s the puppy’s decision?

Try this on a pup that is 12 weeks old. I have a standard poodle who is now 14 weeks. He would not lay down in the crate, period. As soon as we took him out he laid down and chilled. He whines and cries every night. We keep him in a high traffic area in the house. We're in a custom ranch, one floor. Bedrooms are down the hall from the living room he's crated in. We've left nothing but a toy in the crate. No bedding whatsoever. Basically I blame the breeder. IMO, if you still have puppies from a litter that are 12+ weeks, do the new owners a favor and start crate training. Ours put him in a room with siblings, other dogs, etc. that was sectioned off and if he had an accident it was in that room. That's NOT housebreaking a dog. So that's what he's use to now. Now we're trying to undo everything she did. Many breeders are very good, but it appears that that they don't really care what you go through after their sold and in your home.

Shotokan You shouldn't have kept him in another room during the night-when you're crating overnight you should always have it next to your bed to let the puppy know you're there. You're also supposed to take them out in the middle of the night for the first couple weeks of having them.

If a puppy is whining in the crate, isn't the first thing to do to take the puppy outside and see if the pup needs to eliminate? Puppies have tiny bladders and bowels: even if the pup has just eliminated, he may need to do so again. Not taking the pup out means he may eliminate in the crate, which means he learns it's OK to eliminate in the crate -- that defeats the whole purpose of a crate.

Yeah don't be fooled people this method may work on a docile labrador pup, but try it on most other breeds. It dosent matter how much cuddling you do you will still get an earfull when that door closes. They want to sleep with the pack i.e you in your bed. When they can't see rule number 1 cry

So, leaving home is always a challenge for us. Before you leave him at home to go out, make sure to take him out on a run for a bit to release his energy, give him a carrot stick to chew on or a healthy vegetable and give him the Kong . He should be tired and happy eating, chewing and licking helps pass the time till you get home. Then after awhile he will release the anxiety and live life at your pace.

This is NOT a good way to crate training. You don’t close the door when first introducing them to the crate. You throw treats in there and leave the door open letting them go in and out as they please. Do that for a week or so and then gradually shut the door and leave the room for a few minutes at a time. This tells them you will be coming back

If someone’s life situation calls for crating their pets, they should not own one. This damn crate is too small on top of that that. Imagine yourself in a 6ft x 6ft crate all night.

  • @11kwright

Why don't you stay in a cage (jail) and see how you like it. And when you start whining and calling out it's just because you need to get use to it. Like Stonnie Dennis said no dog wants to stay confined in a small area (cage). Every dog likes to run around. I'm sure dogs can be trained without using cages. Just train them to not go to poo indoors and also have quiet times once they've been exercised of course. Dogs will not have quiet times unless they expend some energy and I don't mean old age pensioner walking, like running and if you can't do that you need to train your dog to fetch but don't get a dog if you are going to behave cruelly to it. This is cruel like how in old times it was fine to leave babies crying in a room all by themselves. Until some died of cot death because they were always on their own. RUBBISH VIDEO!!! Not convinced!

11kwright my pup has separation anxiety and is lit glued to my hip. She won't rest and stay in her bed long enough to fall asleep unless I sit with her and even when I do that she more often than not wakes up the minute I make any noise in a different room and comes running so I'm using a crate to show her she'll survive being on her own for a little amount of time. Not planning on using it when she's gotten some confidence and independence

11kwright actually it’s better for a puppy to be in a crate when you’re not around to supervise them like at night or while at work. This way, you can control their environment and they can’t hurt themselves by eating something they’re not supposed to. Yes, puppies cry when they are put into crates but this isn’t a bad thing necessarily. Usually they do it because they want you to come back, not because they hate the crate. As puppies get older, they even start to go in the crates themselves happily because it’s a safe comfortable place for them.

The crate for them is like us having our apartment or room. He loves his crate. In fact because he is still getting socialized to cats, they are slowing coming and sitting next to the crate. BTW In old times, they had the dog house outside. And before you start accusing others, let me tell you this: It is -30 C, it is snow and ice outside, and extremely slippery. I live on the hill so I have to go up or down and puppy is pulling so it is very dangerous. I fell twice and am limping. It is like glass outside. And when this horrible long winter gets over (in April in Canada) everything will turn into mud. Where exactly would you want me to play fetch? Any bright ideas? I do however agree that this video is beyond bad.

You people buy a puppy and then wanna leave him a cage, and your excuses are "yeah but he isn't in there all day ecc.. I don't care, you don't tell your friend to come over at your house and then when your over with him you lock him in a room, you cannot take your responsabilieties, a dog is for life, not just when you" have time for him", even if it's just for when your not at home, just fuc k ing teach him not to ruin your house, he has the right to roam free he's part of your family now and that's his house too now
