I also want to maybe become a puppeteer, but hey, how’re the puppets going?
For 6 years ago this quality is amazing
I almost died when he said "Get Creative" it reminded me of something that made me hate puppets. Anyone who has seen 'don't hug me I'm scared' knows what I'm talking about

I'm thinking of making a Trekkie Monster puppet, so thank you for this video.
The sheer quality and entertainment value of this video is incredible. And for that sir, I subscribe.

Hi John - Sorry for the slow response. Yes, more videos to come. I am working on a puppet charity event with my puppety partner in crime and it's been taking a bunch of time. (More info to follow soon.) Thanks for the kind words. Glad you're enjoying the puppet shenanigans. I love it when there's new puppet people. Welcome to the family!

littlemissmakeup83 You're welcome. Thanks for watching. And yes...Project Puppet has some great patterns. Super great resource for starting out.
Love the mental image of a "violent puppeteer". LOL. Great vid!
I'm dreaming of a furry monster puppet, his name would probably be Schrödinger, after the famous Schrödinger who did a thought experiment about a cat in a box.
@lifespore
7 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, Erwin Schrödinger. I guess when making that puppet you would be both making the puppet and NOT making the puppet at the same time ;)
Instead of a razor blade you could also use an exacto knife from an office store or some general stores. They come with interchangeable blades and the grippable handle helps avoid being cut
OMG!!!! I loved the Never Ending Story reference!

Hi. I made a puppet head from foam using various sites ideas! I know.. not good! Lol. Now I want to finish with attaching a body. I looked at your online site for patterns. Just want to know if, I bought them. Will I be able to adjust the pattern to fit this head?
@CrashBoomPuppets
7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. The site I recommend (Project Puppet) has patterns for their particular head and body styles. You could likely make it match your custom made head, but it might take a little bit of massaging to make it work.
This is a lot different than I was planning on making my puppet ( that I didn't make yet :/) I was just thinking about taking a big plastic sphere that you can get a joian fabrics and cut a hole in the back of the head and cover that with felt but this seems like a wayyyyyyy better idea
I'm the student costumer for my school's theatre and I'm very interested in puppets. I will definitely be subscribing
great video

James Sykes Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
For some advice to others... I am a beginner and Instead of using foam I start off using paper (and pretend its foam; to save $) that way I get/know the exact shape I want when I use the foam.
When I buy a project puppet pattern do you build the foam skull then add the skin OR sew the skin then add foam in side do you have any tips for inspiration thank you
@CrashBoomPuppets
9 жыл бұрын
Chimpokosauce1 You build the puppet skin first. Then the foam skull fits up inside. You can fold it up to fit it through the body sleeve and then use your hand to open it up and get it in place. Best tip I can give is to keep trying new things! There's no wrong way to do it. Thanks for watching.
Great vid I'm working on one
Don’t know if anyone will see this but when I sew the felt mouthplate onto the mouth, you can see the seams very well and I don’t know how to cover it like how this guy does
Could you please give the measurements of the foam? How many of that shall I buy?
How does the pattern work do you print them out or what?
5:57 That scared. The absolute SHIT out of me. 😭
What's the right size of foam do you use for puppets? :D

Jimmy, mat, Robert, bob. Names for your puppets
What was the pattern that you bought because there are several
When can you upload more build videos? Even time lapses?
I thing this is an awesome puppet
the man behind the slaughter
It took me almost a minute you two are actually the same person. I feel slow today.
Ey dude I'm recently decide to do puppets, but I must use gum sponch, my puppets are like 50cm tall, so I have a cuestion, It's possible make a puppet with your materials that big? Mines become heavy to carry, they looks like a big teddy bears. Pd: I'm very shy for my bad English, sorry.
Anyone know of any puppeteers i could commission to make a puppet? I have an idea but not really sure how i'd actually make it
Those are cool.
Omg thanks and can we just have stuffing to stuff the puppet?
Hunter,he's a panda with an eyepatch and a mans purse. :D

Dat One Awkward Guy - Hey there. The videos were originally uploaded in 2013. They were taken down because of some naming issues, then edited a bit and put back up. The discount thing was up in early 2014. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey King Toasty - For the video I went to Joann Fabrics and/or Michael's. But you should be able to get it at any local craft store. It's cheap fleece (whatever they have on sale) and green polyfoam. It doesn't have to be green but all the craft stores around me seem to carry it in that color. Hope that helps!

Crash Boom are you going to make any more videos?
I so want to make puppets but I only have the type of foam for cosplay and fabrics for clothes yarn from crocheting wires from the garage that are now mine knowing how to cut things and cant buy much stuff i bet it is so hard
For the gluing the puppet skull part, won't it be easier to use hot glue?
@CrashBoomPuppets
7 жыл бұрын
Oompa Loompa You can totally use hot glue! I just don't think it holds as well. It can get brittle or melt in a hot environment. (Don't leave your puppet in a hot car!) Also, if any of it will be exposed it creates kind of a rigid seam whereas the contact cement is a little cleaner. Just a preference thing.
