Dude, your videos are the holy grale for someone like me who wants to record punk rock at home because it seems that tutorials are out there for every genre except for this! Also your videos are just so damn well made, well explained, you come across super sympathetic and it's just the perfect combo man! About programming drums, could you also make a video on how to program them for those out there who don't have a midi controller (yet)? Keep it up and stay healthy! 🤙🏼

"I'm not the best finger drummer, although I'm very good at fingering." That is such a bad joke and so immature but for some reason your deadpan delivery got me so fucking good that I actually snorted when I laughed (ノ>▽<。)ノ All kidding aside, thank you for making this! You're a great teacher! I just started taking commissions for VTubers writing background music & I've had a few approach me wanting rock/metal/punk tracks, and the only thing that's stopped me from taking on more has been trouble figuring out how to do the drums. This helped me out a ton! I can't wait to check out the rest of your tutorials!

Thank you for this nice video, again ! I know you said last time that Ableton wasn't necessarily the best DAW but would you for example recommand it over reaper to record punk-rock from your experience ? Reaper seems limitless when it comes to customize it but I wonder if for a beginner and an intuitive person like me it would not be somewhat "better" if it comes with the right amount of plugins and can avoid me losing myself inall Reaper possibilities, if you know what I mean. I like the plug and play kind of things and you last video about building a punk rock song was awesome ! Thanks for you help and humor, cheers

I've started in Pro Tools a long time ago and I was used to having a more traditional DAW in my hands. But Ableton is by far the most creative and clean DAW in terms of songwriting and sound design. I've tried Reaper many times and in my opinion it's just not an useful tool for music creation. It might be good for mixing and soundtrack scoring, but the interface is too convoluted and there are usually too many steps to take that get in the way of creativity. I would absolutely recommend Ableton for punk over Reaper for punk rock. Punk rock is a simple music style and it benefits from Ableton's clean interface. And if you decide to go deeper, Ableton is also one of the deepest DAWs you can dive into, having a whole side of liver performance included, it can control any MIDI device, lights, video. It's super customisable and it even allows you to create your own plugins using Max For Live. Reaper sure is limitless... but it's unfocused. Ableton gives you a focus, but leaves doors open to much more creative possibilities if you decide to do it.

@@JulianGrimmMusic I want to say thank you Julian, this is exactly what I needed to hear and quite confirms my doubts. I found reaper to be endless... indeed ! I am not even a good musician and just start using it for fun but reaper seemed to kill the fun and is less more appealing than Ableton. Cheers from France and keep the videos coming, I enjoy a lot and relate to them. See ya !
