The Russian school of boxing has many perfect examples of punching and everything else a boxer would need it's possibly the best boxing teacher on the Internet to be brutally honest! The pendulum step video is a masterclass and everyone can learn somthing from just that 1 video

There is wisdom in your lesson, which I can tell so I subscribed from the first video. I have have practiced martial arts most of my life. When I was younger I used to think in terms of "only 1 proper way to do x" (with gloves anyways). After enough time I realize that your strategy stands above your strength or form. A strategically landed shot at 70% is much more effective than most else.

Great stuff Mark, your instructions are always very clear and informative with none of the BS some people tend to throw out there.

Thanks, Martin. I think I sometimes go beat around the bush a bit but usually with a destination in mind. Dishonesty on KZread is certainly a bit of a problem and some people never recognise it. ;)

IA very good video and good advice. Although I would have to disagree on one point about damaging your fists during bag work without gloves on. I started doing martial arts and boxing at 16 then off and on throughout my life, but at 66 years of age my hands are fine and strong. My fists have never been injured punching anything including bags filled with sand, wood, and even brick walls. If punching correctly one would be more likely to damage ones wrists as they are not supported. My inkling was to train as naturally as possible so that if it came to a real situation I would not have to concentrate on protecting my wrist or fists as I have always been training that way so its second nature. Once one has trained a lot without gloves they gain confidence in hitting almost anything without fear of damaging their fists. Its not for everyone, but unless I was in the ring I felt claustrophobic not having my fingers free.
