Фильм және анимация

The one people have been asking for for ages!
How to punch n' roll in Logic Pro X with specific reference to audiobook recording / long form voiceover narration.
Once you've set the template up, save it as a template and when you record in future, opening this template everything will be set with punch n roll ready to go and you won't have to set it up ever again.

    For anyone who's having trouble getting this going in 2023, you need to make sure that "marquee line engages autopunch" is selected (right-click on the punch-in/punch-out toggle next to the LCD and select it from the dropdown)

    For those of us who a) are new to Logic Pro, and b) have old or tired eyes, it would be helpful if you would 1) significantly enlarge your cursor [System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Cursor ] and 2) consider speaking a little more slowly and indicating where you're going to move the cursor prior to moving it. It took this viewer many pauses and rewinds to follow your navigation simply because the tiny black cursor on a dark gray/black background is so difficult to see.

    @@oliverbardwell1740 It certainly is quite a learning curve. My recording has been going pretty well. I have recorded 10 books so far, and am currently in the middle of number 11. Although I have stopped using Logic. I did one full audiobook with it, using the tips I learned from this video, but it just wasn't working out for me. I have since tried REAPER and am currently testing out Hindenburg Journalist Pro. Maybe I'll take a look at Logic again though since version 10.5 was released. I wish you all the best as you dive into the exciting world of audiobook creation :) P.S. Lookup "The ABC's of Audiobooks" on KZread. It's a series of videos put together by the A.C.A (Audiobook Creators Alliance) which I've found to be very useful.

    @@oliverbardwell1740 Hi Oliver. Hindenburg has proven to be quite an amazing piece of software. I have found it to lack some of the more advanced control provided by something like Audition, but the ease of use and efficiency far outways any minor customisation limits. I have yet to try out Pro Tools, still curious to see how that will work for me, but until then I shall most certainly be sticking with Hindenburg.

    Liam..Thank you so much for this....Huge help. One thing for me is still pressing; The ability to set pre-roll and have logic monitor audio before the punch, just as it does when I use the cursor to aset the pre-roll. When I try setting it in Recording Settings, it works but won;t play audio before the punch. Am I missing something? I want to have to make as few clicks as possible. I would like to click the cursor, click "P," hit Record and have logic play me in from a coupla seconds before the pucj with audio. What do you think? Thanks again!

Quick question I’ve been desperately searching the internet and KZread for a video on how to set up Logic Pro x to meet acx requirements for voice over. Because you have so much experience with all kinds of DAWs would you be able to make a video on it for complete beginners I’m sure there are many many people like me looking for a video like this. @@frazerblaxland4284 Be careful with rounded playhead, it will snap to somewhere, like the beginning of a bar, rather than precisely where your playhead is. Better to use SET IN PUNCH IN LOCATOR BY PLAYHEAD.

    Hi Liam. Great video thanks. One thing I can’t figure out is how to make it give me a few seconds before it records (the lead in) - when I set it up according to your video it just starts recording right where I’ve pressed R instead of jumping a few seconds back. I should add that I do have a template where the punch-in red bar is already set in position from the left side off to infinity on the right. This template works fine so far, but new documents don't seem to allow it anymore.

  • @OtisJiry
    @OtisJiry Жыл бұрын

    I am having an extremely difficult time in getting this to work. Everything is fine until I get to the point where the punch out extends to 'ten hours'. For me, all that happens is the punch section stays the same, and when I hit record it starts immediately recording from where my cursor is set at. No matter what I do, I cannot extend the punch out length to infinity. What happens at the 4:39 point of the video does not happen for me. For me, I immediately start recording at where I set the Markee tool as the Punch out range is exactly the same as it originally is. It doesn't change at all. I've been at this for over two hours starting the set up from scratch and I can NOT get past the section where the Punch out range extends and the Punch in goes to where ever the Markee tool was set and begins recording there. I'm at a loss as to what to do to get this to work. As I do audiobooks this is vital for me. I use Adobe Audition and have no problem doing PnR there, but this is making me pull out my hair because I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've set 'P' as a keystroke for Punching in. I've set up everything else as you have in the video up until the 4:40 mark, but nothing changes as far as punching in is concerned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Anyone else suddenly having problems doing this with version 10.7.0? I had a previous version where Liam's instructions worked great. Then I bought a student bundle and reinstalled Logic Pro X and 3 other apps, including Final Cut. For all the idiots out there like me that couldn’t figure out what the bloody hell he’s talking about when says “Set your punch” when he’s telling you the key command, open key commands, in the search bar top right of the key command window type in “punch”, in the commands menu on the left under “Global Commands” select “Set Punch In Locator by Playhead”, then on the right under your search bar select the “Learn by Key Label” button, once it’s highlighted press “P” to set your punch. If it won’t assign it’s probably because it’s still assigned to something else. Mine was assigned to piano roll. So you’ll have to find piano roll command in the commands menu or whatever command your “P” is assigned to (and if you don’t know just press the P button and then try a search for the command), follow the above instructions and instead of “Learn by Key Label” select “Delete”. Also, you’re welcome
