Standard knot here, mostly out of laziness. I just skip the second to last hole and run my laces through the “runner’s knot” hole. Seems to work 95% of the time.

the foam is not durable and bottoms out after 600km though.

Just bought these, then watched your review. Fully agree. They competed against Metaspeed Edge in the shop and my wide feet felt better in the Pumas. Plus more comfort and bounce.

First mile colourway with gum sole (and no MASSIVE NITRO logo) would look banging.

I’m convinced I need these

A view from the slower (and waaaay older) end of the field. Have run in them 3 times so far (25k maybe) and they are to the DV8 Nitro Elite 2 what that shoe was to the DV8 Nitro (original). They fit better, out of the box, no broom handle tricks required. According to my ancient Garmin the average stride length (without altering anything like stride rate) appears to be up to 5cm longer. That's nearly 600m in a 10k. Whatever time that takes you to run 600m, is the time it's worth. And it's still the cheapest super shoe out there. Win win.....😁🏆

Runners knot whether I need it or not. Pisses me off when manufacturers supply laces that are too short. Worst offender in my closet - Saucony on the Triumph 20. I'm glad you often mention it. Few reviewers do.

I have the elite 1 and 2 in my closet. They are so robust compared to other race shoes. I'm definitely getting these.

Love the velocity and deviate so this is definitely on my radar. Puma are doing a lot right.

Lovely tracksmith top. Nice and breathable.

Love my Deviate Nitro 2’s and the Elite 2’s. Also my 2 pairs of ForeverRuns. Puma have made a brilliant comeback in the last few years. This new Elite 3 will be added to my rotation but only when they get rid of the hideous NITRO on the side of the shoe. At least it’s on the inside! Another brilliant review mate👌

Im using the Elite 2. A nice shoe if you can find it on discount. I think Asics foams are more responsive than Puma. Try the Adidas Takumi sen 9, a total different style, but is on the same kind of shoe.

I`m happy that this new version is lighter than the previous one besides increasing the midsole stack height. I have Nitro Elite 1 and 2 and I really like them. Both deliver that bounce I expect and are more stable than shoes from other brands. In fact, Elite 2 is 14 grams heavier than Elite 1 in my size, which makes the first version my favourite.

Yes, I also have both pairs: Elite 1 and 2. And these are completely different sneakers. Elite 1 is softer and lighter. But Elite 2 is better pushed into the hills)) I'm looking forward to Elite 3! Greetings from Russia!

Got mine yesterday and my usual size 10 is too long so had to pick up a 9.5 which is perfect.

I have the v1 and v2. They’re both great for speedy sessions but I find they lack the last bit of snappiness for a marathon shoe. Maybe the v3 is the one? Only one way to find out… When on discount they will be even better value. Thanks for a great video, Edd!

Standard bow , i do like the strechy laces as well, takes a bit to get them dialled in but once you get used to them its very comfortable.

@@EDDBUD I do wonder sometimes if people look at a shoe and see it’s substantially cheaper than another shoe and think, “obviously it isn’t as good” some of these brands are taking the p@@s at least puma seem like they are trying to keep things down where they can.

I’m testing this shoe out currently and really enjoying it! Definitely a Metaspeed Edge competitor. I have to say though that I don’t find the foam as compressive as some. Not a negative, but just an anecdote. For reference, I’m a smaller runner. 5’7" and 138 lbs-or about a couple pounds shy of 10 stone as you fellas across the pond would say. I imagine I would get a lot more compression and rebound if I were able to put a bit more weight into the midsole.

I need a runners knot on most shoes, but only for my left foot. Puma shoes tend to run long (even after sizing down), and I need to use it on both feet. But not every shoe works with a runners knot for me, because with some, it will hurt the top of my feet, and sometimes the laces are just too short, or both.

I’ve used the Velocity Nitro 2 as a daily, and wanted to get the Deviate more for races. Looks like this will be it; hope they release some colour ways without the whole “NITRO” logo down the side though

Such a catchy tune! I want want those Puma's. but they never seem to put any of their high performance shoes on sale in Oz. Maybe they just sell out of stock?

Recently tried previous version. Good at easier paces(4min km), but almost unrunnable at race paces. Tried 3.15 pace and it was very weird, much worse than regular pegasus 39 or other daily trainers. Don't have issues with other super shoes. Could't increase turnower in them. Cadence was lower compared to other shoes. Liberate Nitro from 2021 was 5 times better at speed

Perhaps a mismatch between your foot and the plate profile. Doctors of Running have talked about this as a key reason certain shoes work for some people and not others.

Love the colorway, giant Nitro logo excluded, but I am am full up on Race shoes, when are you dropping the review for the Deviate Nitro 3? That is the one I am waiting for...

Personally I really like the NITRO logo. I appreciate how Puma is not afraid to take chances with their designs

I did 3 half-marathons with the non-elite Deviate Nitro 2 this spring. I might consider upgrading to the elite version for the next year's spring season. Also: bow knots for shorter runs, runner's knot for long/race runs.

Good idea on the lacing

Runners knot, fear of slippage. Treated myself to a £4 pair of longer laces for the SL2's and they're now officially a delight that will stop me checking for Superblast 2 launch news every few hours

Puma uppers are always great for me..I tried on a woman's version yesterday (no men's yet) and it's step in feel is very good and the woman's sz 10 was just a tad narrow but I could run it even tho 1/2 sz small..should be just right for my men's shoe sz..the only thing didn't work for me was the foam not quite enough in V1 and V1 of the fastr..I don't use the heel lock in any shoe and if it's necessary I get rid of the shoe..you would think after all these years you could engineer a shoe that fits properly instead of resorting to gimmicks or tying it so tight it cuts off the circulation of your foot..For me V1 of the fastr has the best fitting upper of all the shoes I ever used, only a tad better than the Salomon s/lab pulsar..

Re-- that Nitro logo. I'm a runner of a certain vintage and whilst I've fully embraced the wild colour schemes that adorn many current trainers I'm not sure Bronx graffiti artist is a good look for a 60 year old. I'm mindful of that time William Hague donned a baseball cap. C'mon Puma, I love your shoes, don't alienate me!

I mix runners knots and regular. I have a narrow heel so different horses for different courses

Im getting both CWs. Dont see point with diversifying. Top notch shoe.

Always a runner knot here, just feels more secure. I can see me picking a pair of these up, and am hoping this release will drop the price if v2 down as well.

I tried getting mine on day of release, but they were all sold out in my size, then I noticed that version 2 was on clearance and those all sold out just as quickly. Some other reviewers said it felt narrow, I returned my Nike vaporfly 3 for the Meta speed edge which are among the best of running shoes but very narrow, I wander if it feels as narrow. New shoes call for a new playlist, start your run with these four songs (they may not be for everyone) from the group "A place to bury strangers" songs: "Love Reaches out", "Broken", "Exploding Head" and "Don't save you love"
