Dude from where Vince was standing, we was maybe 45 degrees from jewels direct point of view. It's not that impressive humans can easily see 60 degree and -60 degree on both sides ( assuming no vision issues). Then peripheral vision kicks in and on average that gives humans almost a 180 degree spread at whatever forward they are looking. But even more so. Move your eye farthest left or right ( if you don't have vision issues) and you can even see close to an addition 30 degrees behind you ( can't turn your head obviously). It's not that magical he caught Vincent sneaking up to this girl. He was right in jewels line of sight. But Vincent was behind the girl so she couldn't spot him unless he made a sound.

He just happened to choose the diner where Jules was eating to hold up at gunpoint. If he had chosen any other diner, he would have been in and out just fine. If it had happened on an earlier day, Jules would have blown his head off. Just something interesting I thought about.

I think it also shows the casual nature and genuine likeabilkty of people who commit violence as a way of life, and the casual way the Wolf helps them clean up the crime scene with admirable expertise and a concerning non chalant professionalism. I have never seen any of his movies after Kill Bill, but there is only one movie that makes it in my top 5 if you count True Romance and the Kill Bill sequels seperately.

It’s scenes like this is why I love Tarantino movies. The dialogue; not always about the straight up killing and violence.. it’s the tension build up between characters, the shift of momentum from one side to the other. Inglorius Basterds, Reservoir Dogs and the Kill Bill movies are definitely my favorites.

It’s a showing of brilliant self-restraint on Quentin’s part to not include music at all the entire scene and let the dialogue carry all the tension, because that’s where it’s really all coming from. I feel like most directors would throw in some schlock “subtle” intense music to try and enhance the scene, inadvertently ruining the true intensity of the scene. It’s one among many reasons why this film still holds up so well, even 26 years later.

The mark of a truly great storyteller: Tarantino thought of a few marginally connected, out of order anecdotes about gangsters in L.A. and somehow turned them into a mesmerizing, unforgettable epic with profound meditations on the human soul. There’s something mythic about Pulp Fiction, some nameless quality that elevates all of its individual pieces and just makes it all feel deeply important. Truly, and without hyperbole, it is a masterpiece.

@Wavemaninawe There is that very plausible theory that the silenced uzi was Marcellus' gun. Vincent had his careless moments but at no point in the film is he shown to be a complete idiot. Add the fact that 1) Marcellus holds Vincent in high regard (enough to trust him with entertaining and protecting his wife while he's away on busines) and 2) Vincent is never seen carrying more than a handgun and I think this theory is more likely what happened: they went to Butch's residence late at night (after that conversation between Marcellus and Paul in Butch's dressing room, where Vincent comes in and catches up with Mia), since Butch went straight to a Hotel after the fight they didn't find him there and decide to wait him out until morning. At that point they thought he was long gone and gave up on expecting his return to his apartment. Vincent having stomach issue due to his heroin addiction went straight to the bathroom, while Marcellus decided to get some breakfast - not wanting to be making stops at a restaurant with a big silenced uzi strapped to his person or sitting in his car, he left it on the kitchen counter which was right in front of Butch's bathroom where Vincent was, probably so Vincent would look after it as soon as he got out of the bathroom.) And they would've been right to not expect him coming back since he wouldn't have gone back if not for the forgotten watch.
