Ever wonder how NASA gets the space shuttle on top of a 747? They use pulleys!

    You shouldnt. As your level of study in a field increases, it requires more effort to explain things in a simple way. It's like asking you to explain terminal velocity//fields to grade 4 students.

    Cool fact: In the 1800s you used to use elevators, no not powered elevators with tempting to be pushed fire alarms, pulley elevators. What you would do is sit down in it, and there would be a pulley system with 5 blocks. You would have to barely pull these 2 strings behind you, and speed up to the 2nd floor.

    If we place them horizontaly one after the other up and down or if we place them vertically one below the other do the two orders have any difference in the lifting power or the lifting power still remains the same ?

  • @iknoofacrazydude
    @iknoofacrazydude11 жыл бұрын

    Yes! Eureka! If you draw a parallel circuit vertically, it looks like a block and tackle! In the parallel circuit, the source voltage = the voltage through each branch, just like the force inputted into the rope = force @ each connection point! Thanks for seeing the analogy! And the pulleys divide the rope up into ‘branches’ so that the sum total of force in each branch of rope adds to the total load you’re lifting, just as current through each branch adds to the total current!

    I find it interesting that for me, it’s hard to accept the two being so analogous because current and voltage seem to be two different aspects of the same thing, whereas with the block and tackle, you’re dealing with two separate things spatially (person pulling and whatever’s being lifted). But that’s an afterthought I’m not too worried about. If you have any more thoughts, let me know! Thanks for watching my video!

    Take a look at a hoist. Used to lift engines in and out of cars. Ebay has plenty, I guess around 50$ or so new. It uses high strength chain, it has an advantage of about 20:1, and most importantly, it stays in position. You have to wind it to go down as well as up. So your mower won't end up on your head!

    If you care about kids, you should learn more about physiology. A steady diet of quick video cuts and camera motion changes the brain's "wiring" and a human's attention span. You can create something interesting without creating something harmful.
