Plummeted in quality when the strike happened and they decided that meant it was a good idea to put live-action shows on a channel called CARTOON network

Teen Titans was one of the better American responses to the anime boom, with tons of action, humor and heart. Even the Japanese pop opening theme by Puffy AmiYumi was a solid tune.

A lot of us didn’t make it since then so for many it was a lifetime ago.

Raven's room was shown to be an emo's paradise. Filled with mythic tomes, statues reminiscent of the occult, and a bed styled after her hood, it was easily any emo teenager's dream. Combined with the fact that her powers center around her emotions and that she is half demon, Raven is easily one of the most memorable gothic characters of animated television.

Raven is one of the all-time best DC characters, and I think she should be very respected. I personally wonder if she has the saddest origin story, because most characters have tragic like my parents died stories. Raven instead has parents, but her life was suffering. She never felt like she fit in, and constantly suppressed herself.

Teen Titans was renowned for its character development, humor and serious themes.

Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven made a big impact when they led Teen Titans. The anime-inspired animation instantly made it visually stand out in the genre, but audiences truly stayed to get to know the give layered main heroes. Every hero had their own inner struggles, limitations and tragedies in their past, but they always put their issues aside to work with the teammates that have become like family. While the show excelled at telling heavy and emotional stories, it could also have lots of fun with comedic adventures. Teen Titans make us laugh, cry and feel energized in the same episode.

My favorite aspect is that every character's personal struggles and journeys were all memorable. You can pick out moments from each character. They even treated the villains as mediums to tell stories, like with Jinx and Terra (though she is more of an anti-hero I believe). Just like The Last Airbender the story writers had so much passion for the characters and truly developed them into their own identities within the show. I love this show lol and what you described is one of the many reasons it will always be an amazing show to watch.

This show meant so much to me back then and still does now if not more. It's helped me get through some low moments in my adolescence. The characters were so well written, it felt like they were MY best friends. Listening to this 20 years after its premier hits me in the gut.. I remember playing the battle blitz game and hearing that lick on the bridge which is soo catchy. Rewatching now you also realize such mature themes they handled really well, like sexual assault (Slade and Raven), racism (Troq), PTSD (haunted), and even suicide (Terra). Teen Titans Let's Go!!!!

It's not going to. Teen Titans 2003 is a product of its time, and it wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint to bring it back. At the very least, it had a nice ending.

@@hamsterchan Here's the thing though, TV Stations like Cartoon Network have been constantly shoving TTG in our faces to the point where we can't escape it. Plus, the creators are aware of all the backlash TTG has gotten, yet instead of listening to feedback, they work it into the show. Which is essentially the equivalent of them blowing us off. And that's why people are so upset.

My point is, everyone says "Teen Titans is better" and all that shit, and hate Teen Titans Go when, true, some moments on the show are so... uh,, but it's not the worst thing in the world, "you can't escape it" well I actually did? just search teen titans 2003 full series and watch it, it's what I'm doing and it's so cool. I can watch episodes whenever I want, I choose the amount of episodes to watch, and that's it. I still enjoy both, yeah, CN is saturated with TTGO, I'm still thinking the teen titans vs teen titans go fight is nonsense.

@@hamsterchan Yeah, you're not wrong. Plus I almost never watch TV Programming anymore, since the majority of it nowadays is garbage. But I'm still salty towards the creators of TTG, for not realizing when to listen to feedback, and cancel their show. It's like modern day society is too stupid to tell the difference between a good show and a bad show. And that's why I often get pissed.

Relistening to this theme years after the fact reveals the reason it's been stuck in my head for well over a decade: it's just really well written. It's like the Del-Tones smashed into a Super Bowl half time concert by Black Sabbath at mach speed. Every time you think it's run out of ideas, they have another one to boot.

I love the 1960's surfer style this song effortlessly emuates.

The characters from the animated Teen Titans series are all extremely unique with no two characters being alike, which is the main reason why they all bounce off of each other so well to form the team fans everywhere loved so much.

Man, this series is 20 years old. Time flies.

Dude I'm 12 and Teen Titans is quite litterally my favorite show.

You can’t beat the classics

Terra was a very complex character who had flaws that made her feel two-dimensional and realistic. At heart, she felt genuine remorse for making several mistakes. She does not deserve to have a bad reputation.

Just finished watching the show from start to finish today after so many years! I can definitely say Teen Titans is still one of my top three favorite American cartoons of all time! A big contributor to why I personally think the 2000’s was the golden era of cartoons! So, SO glad I picked up the complete series DVD collection!

The Original Teen Titans Was Super Awesome!

Teen Titans debuted on television almost 20 years ago. The misfit gang of supers working together began quickly capturing the attention and the hearts of fans around the world. For three long years, the show ran strong, but it came to a close at the end of 2006. Even though it ended, the team was not forgotten.

Imagine if Rocksteady made a Teen Titans game instead of a Suicide Squad game.

Teen Titans works due to contrast, and due to the fact that these characters never lose their depth when being funny and never lose their charm while in distress.

When I was 10 I used to watch teen titans for the theme song and it is still a banger in 2023

A show that won three Annie Awards definitely deserves to be considered one of the very best. There is more emphasis on action than humor, something that appeals to fans that simply want to see the superheroes as the terrific and overpowered individuals that they are known be. The costumes look better than those in the comics.

I never really got to watch Teen Titans as a kid (only watched one or two episodes), but this theme still invokes nostalgic memories in me, extremely catchy and memorable! :)

The original Teen Titans was an awesome Cartoon Network series from the early 2000s that renewed the next generation's interest in one of the most underrated squads in the DC Universe.

TEEN TITANS!!

I remember having a crush on Raven and Starfire as a kid (I was six when the series began). I loved how it focused on each character in such well-written ways, with just some crazy things going on either at the same time or before it took a serious turn, and villains like Slade (voiced by the always-perfect Ron Perlman) and Trigon striking fear into children's hearts. Not to mention the rest of the great voice cast. Man, I loved this show.

This was literally my favorite cartoon growing up, whenever it was on tv I was immersed. I miss it so much

This show just hit different. All 5 characters we’re good. Loved em all. Teen Titans go is just a cringey remake which ruined the characters and the series. Nothing will beat the OG, the vibe this show gave was awesome too. I miss this show and all my childhood memories spent watching it. A lot of kids my generation can’t compare. 😔

The Teen Titans animated series ran on Cartoon Network and Kids WB for five seasons from July 19, 2003 to September 15, 2006, and featured a 1980s-era lineup composed of Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy. Each of the five seasons featured a main story arc, as well as standalone episodes. The series adapted some Marv Wolfman/George Perez storylines and featured versions of many other Titans characters, but most of the stories were original and the show introduced new characters.

What makes Beast Boy such a great friend to the Teen Titans is that he provides a great deal of comic relief to the team. Beast Boy is there with a smile and a quick quip to get everyone smiling again.
