I live right next to the woods, and every year in the same spot, I see TONS of puffball mushrooms. 😂

If you pop it it releases its spores and there’s microscopic seeds in the spores and when the spores come out your helping the puffball spread its seeds

@@elgato7031 yeah fungi are not plants they don't reproduce from seed and do not photosynthesize , spores are the reproductive part, the mushroom itself is the fruiting body. The main part is the mycelium network under the soil

Can they be eaten? I have never seen a mushroom or fungus like this. It didn’t seem to be attached to the ground at all. Very interesting. I love looking for different types of mushrooms. Though I would never eat any of them.

​​​@@kerrynicholls6683The puffball mushroom is a very common one, perhaps you have not seen it that big? The one in the video is most likely already pulled out, they do have a mycelium under the ground. They are edible (in fact, there's tons of recipes for them) and have no clones. Puffball mushrooms only have that big body with no stem, when they are old they turn into brown spores on the inside (they are no longer edible as they are pretty much dust) and the spores have antibacterial abilities.

Mushrooms did wonders in my life. I suffered severe trauma several years ago after divorce with my husband. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Spent my whole life fighting cptsd. Congrats on your recovery. Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point! 👍

I have never came across a giant puffballs, only the smaller species, but my question is: is it past its prime?? Because when you lifted it up, your fingers kinda dug in and caused indentations, i know when puffballs are old, they are very soft to the touch
