Join me on a walk through two popular colonias (neighborhoods) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Puerto Vallarta, located on the Mexican Pacific Coast, is one of the most popular tourist destinations.
I start the walk from Fluvial, a newer well-developed quiet colonia with beautiful homes and park space 10-15 minutes from downtown (El Centro) Puerto Vallarta . This area is popular with Mexicans and foreign residents, is located 10 minutes to the beach, close to many stores and shopping, and has a more tranquil residential vibe. Many tourists have discovered that they can rent a large house during their vacations in the colonia.
I then walk through Versailles, an older colonia that is undergoing changes where you can find old Puerto Vallarta charm with local stores and services and a mix of housing including modern condo developments. Many of the trendiest new restaurants popular for locals and tourists are located in the area. People who cannot afford to live in Zona Romantica are now looking at Versailles as a more viable option.
