Puddles (2D student animated short)
Our first 2D animated short film! A little girl named Miya runs off and encounters a strange creature that swims in the water reflection of the beach.
Made for a 2nd year project over a semester, co-directed by Louise-Marie Rousselie. Music by Clément Amendola.

The “sea horse” here is something you call a kelpie. It is something from a mythology (isn’t know which) it used to make people go to the water then drown them.

well... that explains the grumpy facial expression of the sea horse at the end... lol.
This is soooo well done! The part where the kelpie tries to get into his den but is too round at first is a great touch of comedy. You managed to make the ending, while a bit of a twist, still have a bit of the cutsy artstyle to it.
Wow, that shows how naive kids are.

Very cool! I love the concept of the creature appearing in the pool reflections. The design of the sea floor (1:08) with the shafts of light is neat too.
As soon as I saw the Kelpie and the tail wagging, I knew it had to be dark, I was right but I'm happy that noting bad happened to the girl.
This became dark very fast- I like that.
Bro as soon as i saw the monster I KNEW IT WAS EVIL FROM MYTHOLOGY THING I READ

My literal thought process while watching. Spoilers What a cute cartoon. Its well animat... oh crap is that a kelpie!!! Well. It seems harmless. I guess its either not a Kelpie or they made the legend more child friendly. What a cute cartoon. Aw. The Kelpie is waving good bye. Or it wants her to come in the water to kill her... Aw. She is waving goodbye to her new friend. Its nice to see a good wholesome carto... Oh. That was too close. Ha! The Kelpie is to fat to fit in its cave. Wait. Its fat from all the children its killed and eaten. No sleep for me tonight.
This is so good! Why doesn't it have more views, what the hell?

Ah, the ones that get away always look the sweetest and juiciest...
I watch these and find so much inspiration, to see how good their animations are and they used to be like me couldn't animate a stick figure

Well, at least the kid didn’t completely fall for it! But like, lesson, if you see a magical being luring you away from your parents, don’t go. Lol. You would think this wouldn’t need to be made clear, but you never know anymore.
