As important as the singers are to opera, many times the details in the orchestra are obscured. The "Music minus Words" project was designed to provide the full orchestration of operas for score study, practice for budding conductors, and as accompaniment for singers learning operatic roles. The model for tempi and rubati was the Bartoletti 1976 film starring Raina Kabaivanska in the title role. Absolutely, I think Puccini is peak romanticism tbh. You could almost say Rachmaninoff is his successor, same sort of musical trajectory
