Public Land Bull with a Bow! | 2019 Montana Archery Elk Opener (Ep. 1)
Ойын-сауық
In episode 1 of 2019 Montana Archery Elk Opener, Marcus Hockett and his wife Kara Landolfi are heading out to some public lands in search of a couple elk. They get to their spot the night before opening day to scout out the area and try to get some eyes on elk.
They are able to locate elk, but also locate several other hunters as well. Opening morning they are able to find elk and try to get a good set up to call them closer. Their first set up doesn't work, but they continue to find plenty of elk to chase and try to call in.
They continue to cover country in hopes of finding a bull that wants to come in to their calls. Finally Marcus is able to call in two raghorn bull elk, allowing Kara to get a shot on a public land bull.

I would give anything to have my wife hunt the mountains by my side, she simply doesn't have any desire to be there but enjoys the stories( I think). You are a very blessed man, she is the trophy on this whole experience. God Bless
Marcus you are an EXTREMELY lucky man. My wife hunts with me and life don't get no better than sharing hunts with your mate. CONGRATS to Kara on her bull. I need to find the RAPID FIRE LIKE button!!!!!!!!!!
Getting it done opening week 4 years in a row? That is some serious talent. Good work guys!
What a deal to hunt with your wife. You're extremely blessed.
Congratulations Kara!! Congratulations Team Hockett/Randy Newberg. Another great hunt and video.
Nice ! Congratulations on the bull! Thanks for taking us along with you ! It was a action packed day ! It is awesome to see the big herds of elk through the trees !
Great work Kara and Marcus. Fun to watch Kara be a stone cold harvesting machine.
Hell yeah, Kara! That's a gorgeous elk. Congrats.
Kara, you are AWESOME! I am taking my 14 year old daughter on her first Montana hunt this November. You are an inspiration, like it or not. LoL Marcus, you are incredibly lucky to have a wife that does this with you. Congratulations to you both.
I am JEALOUS!!! WHAT A WHOPPER! Congratulations guys!!
Great video Kara & Marcus. I wasn't bothered by the quality at all. I thought it made it more authentic and less TV-show like. You guys were definitely in a target-rich environment and you certainly proved even with other hunters around if you work for it opportunities will come. Congratulations Kara on a job well done.
Great job, Kara!
What an absolutely awesome hunt! Congratulations Kara!! I love to see y’all hunting together. Thanks for sharing and I’m looking forward to part 2!!!
“I think he’s dead”. Lol. That was awesome. Marcus, you are an elk whisperer. Congrats to you and your wife.
Beautiful job, great to see a successful opening day hunt. Way to go Kara!
Looks like she should be on the channel. 😎🏹🦌 She adds a different perspective to the hunts. Congratulations!!!
Dang Kara!! You got the magic! Great hunt!! Love seeing you two hunt together. 😊

Way to go Kara, great bull you got there!
You two are awesome couple!! Keep it up!
..... Wow! That was great! She did a fantastic job. Good shooting, and I must say, she can carry her own weight, figuratively and literally!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Heck yeah!! Congrats
And I love the eye poke when it upside down lol. Congrats!
What an exciting day!
Fantastic!!!
It’s crazy how popular archery hunting has become! When I first started 20 years ago (man that makes me sound old) there was no where near the hunting pressure during September in Montana.

Right, I will one up you. 30 years ago there was nobody. Even rifle season you wouldn't see hardly anyone. But 30 years ago we hunted a lot of private too. After the old timers sold off the big ranches and they all closed off to hunting that put a lot of people on the public. We hunted everywhere opened to hunters. We used to hunt what is now the Clayborn ranch. The only places you couldn't hunt then where the bottoms and that is because they moved all the cattle down there.
Great stuff!! Congrats!
Dude, Marcus is my new favorite KZread hunter!!
I am insanely jealous of the two of you. Nice job of recording the adventure.
She’s a keeper ! Good job
Good job! Congratulations!
KARA lol at pulling the arrow out and poking it by far my favorite part. Marcus: "I think he's dead." Note: Unless they are super dead they don't lay contorted and twisted, feet sticking up mid air in a blow-down. thumbs way up randy and the team.

that had me laughing too, like technically you should do that but yeah it is pretty obvious it is dead haha
Awesome video!
Love it!
Awesome!!

its fun to see other staff and families doing the videos and hunting
That...is a LOT of backstrap. Congrats!
Great job!
Congrats. Great video.
Nice job Kara!!
Congratulations!!!!
Nice work and congratulations on the elk
Congratulations! What a great time to spend with your spouse!
Way to go Kara! Marcus, has the real trophy!
Bravo, Kara!
Thanks for sharing the video and what an awesome hunt! One thing you might consider Marcus is putting up subtitles when the audio is mumbled for us watchers. It would help us fully understand the situation and make the video more enjoyable. Thank you
WHERE ARE THE LAMAS, when you need them. Congratulations on that bull

Llamas would've been nice... But we're still young... It's good exercise. haha.
Way better Hunter than me!!! Goals for next year, thanks!!
Great job. That'll be a tasty morsel one cold winter day.

What a great experience congrats. I love hunting with my wife
Shes a killer. Great job. My wife and I go out this weekend for 1st rifle cow tags. Super excited I hope my wife can put one down too. Ok its not can its hope she does. I know she can.
That's a hell of a woman right there. Congrats to the both of you!
Great job! For my two cents on feedback these type videos are preferable. As in where the hunting takes priority over filming.Gives the whole thing a more real to life feel.As far as getting the kill shot on film goes that is just a very small part of a big process and means nothing to me.Only mentioning this because sometimes you ask for feedback.

Agreed- Run and Gun hunting while filming has to be really tough and missing filming shots is a given. Great video!

Also why I will never film a hunt. I do enjoy watching the videos. Especially before I go out on my own hunts. To be worried about getting it all on film must take away from the experience. I do carry a camera and take pictures. I am guilty of the grip and grin. Fully aware that to non hunters that is what they see and think its all about. Not realizing everything else summed up in that one moment. Don't get me wrong I would go on a filmed hunt it just isn't my priority.
Every lone hunters dream. To one day hunt with their wife. Congratulations very good video.
i wasnt impressed with Randys or Micheals bowshooting so far, but she seems to be the best shot of Randys hunters. :)

No offense to men but I find females tend to have better accuracy. I find we have more patience too, just wish I had more muscles when it comes to packing out lol.
As a older elk hunter it's wonderful to see ladies doing what she did, the kill, the processing and the pack out. If I were a young man I'd look to Montana for a wife. Now if she can just find her a camera man.😁😁👍👍
Congrats
Congrats to Kara. I laughed when Marcus was calling from the dead bull. I'm like....at least prop it up to look like it's still alive lol
Amazing! Crazy they were bugling like that on opening day of archery(Sept. 7th). I'm just west of Bozeman and didn't start hearing bugles until the first of October?
I have the same name as your wife but mine starts with a C, pronounced the same. Glad to see some female hunters on your show!
Great job she is a killer!!
Congrats, Kara! Michael, you have a 'keeper' in that woman. I'm sure you knew that already, though.
Awesome
Congratulations Kara on a job well done!!!! show those boys how to hunt.
I love clean kills great shot girl 👍🏻
Great bull, enjoy the meat.
WOW!
Y’all make a great team! Better than Lee and Tiffs at least y’all are hunting public land and not some private ranch
In south east Idaho it is deer season tomorrow
Kara? What did you do??? LOL Marcus: "C'mon, girl. Grab yer bow. I got my camera and calls... I'll make ya famous." Kara: "See? That's how you kill an elk! All four hooves up in the air, ready for gutting." You two make for an elk killin' team! Congrats!!
Hey Marcus What type of bow does she shoot Her setup looks pretty sweet Congrats on your success
Congrats on the elk! The black gloves you used to process the elk don't look like the typical surgical gloves I've seen used in the past and they also look a bit thicker and perhaps more durable. What do you think of the gloves for use in elk or other big game processing and where might someone find them? Thanks.

They are nitrile gloves we ordered from Amazon. They're nice for keeping clean and slightly warmer if it's cold, but I'm not sure if they're any more durable than regular latex ones.
Kara, bad-ass huntress!
Xmas is coming up you ought to buy here a Llama
Wow, what a woman!
Awesome woman
At 6:09 does that spike have one antler growing towards the ground?
Would have been great to be part of the "whole" process.
