1) Close-up of birthday party cake. The children leave the party-table and run screaming and shouting to some toys. They run riot and pull things about. The mothers sign and sit at another table and gossip and drink tea. The children pull pieces of material. A little girl finds a box of matches and lights one. "Children and matches don't mix ; keep them out of children's reach." Fire in the middle of the room. Children scream. The mothers stamp it out and one mother kneels and shakes a child who is wearing a policeman's helmet.
2) A motorway on a bridge. Driving on the motorway point of view a passenger behind the driver. Hardly any traffic on the road. Motorway bridges pass overhead. Passing motorway scenes. View through window of car at the road ahead. Driver fatigue. Drowsy. Falling asleep while driving. Back of a black lorry approaches fast. Reflection of man's eyes blinking in the mirror. Lorry indicates to leave the motorway. "Open Your Window." Close-up of hand winding down and turn on the radio. Close-up of indicator flashing on a dashboard. Motorway sign reads "Transport Cafe". 4) Close-up of cue-balls striking. Lots of snooker-balls striking each other. "Some people play it with cars." Three 1960s cars drive together far too close: lots of angles. Driving along point of view the driver. White lorry pulls out suddenly. Cars shunt together, snooker-balls shunt together. Again, but the cars are properly spaced, so can stop in time.

A worker smiles (Johnny Briggs 'Mike Baldwin' from 'Coronation Street') and lowers his protective glasses and goes back to working on a lathe and close-up of bare hands working in chemicals. "A man's not afraid to get his hands dirty." Mechanic and adhesive- works. Chemicals cause skin irritations. Play it safe. Close-up of hands washing in sinks. Wash thoroughly. Close-up of hands scrubbing nails with a brush. Drying hands on a roller-towel. "Take care of your hands: you never know when you'll need them." Johnny ('Mike Baldwin') Briggs greets the blonde girl and hugs her.
6) Moving shots around a burnt-out house. Fire-officer stands in a room and sighs. Things are thrown out of a window and a fire-man hoses them down. A skip is there. At night, the house is ablaze, on fire; ladders are up and fire-men climb. Noise of a fire-engine siren. Crowd watch on a pavement. Fire-engine arrives. Point of view under the ladders looking up. Fire-men rush into action getting equipment off the fire-engine. Hose is unraveled. Crowd watch. Hose turned on, ladder wound upwards. Fire-man arrives and puts on helmet. People on the floor. Fire-men in breathing equipment enter the house. The day after "Do you always keep your electric fire there?" The officer looks at the fuse-box with the house-owner. Fire-men roll up the hose in daylight. The fire was probably caused by tea-towels dried on gas-rings. All the fire hazards are discussed. Fire prevention advice is free. Owner nods. Ladders are put away. Fire-officer leaves front door. Owner turns away wearily.
