God this beat is the stuff of legends. It's such a great example of the influence and timeless quality the Bomb Squad had. They made Prince's guitar feedback sound good, and threw in some Melvin Bliss and George Clinton for good measure. There is a solid argument to be made for this being the best Public Enemy song.

Chuck D is in his 60s now and I'm 48. To this day this man is my HERO! I didn't jump on the bandwagon when It Takes A Nation, dropped. I was a fan since Yo! Chuck made me THINK, he made me WANT to learn who the people were behind names like Farrakhan, Chesimard, Vesey, etc. I was in the 10th grade in 88 and while I loved my school, they weren't teaching me about my TRUED kulcha. More to learn about than slavery, MLK, etc. I am ashamed to say I didn't even know who Malcolm was (another hero of mine) Chuck was the reason I became a Black Nationalist and me being an adult I don't feel I have to clarify, "I'm a Black Nationalist, but I'm NOT a RAYSIS!" Think what ya want to! Peace to the 98 Posse!

Public Enemy are badass. Chuck D is a legend.

Straight DC Hardcore Punk. But PE (and Beastie Boys) are my favorite Hip-Hop group. A big Slayer fan (13 times live), which Rick Rubin also produced and Kerry King played A lot of the guitar riffs on PE's 1st 4 albums. Early DefJam was a great label.

DROP IT!! Back Breaking Beat!! Goosebumps!!! Every time!!

Chuck is a preacher/teacher. As a “narrow ass white boy in the south” this dude blew my mind open with the truth about shit, as well as the beats and rhythmic layers that the Bomb Squad layer down…helped to fuel my musical endeavors. No one can touch the mighty PE in my opinion. The pinnacle…
This song and all their songs are still relevant today. Beats don’t go nasty like this anymore 😢 🔥 bomb squad, lord, flave n Chuck D and everybody just went crazy on these records. These songs put me in a trance every time
