    A private cloud consists of computing resources used exclusively by users from one business or organization. A private cloud can be physically located at your organization's on-site (on-premises) datacenter, or it can be hosted by a third-party service provider.

    Love the presenter but this explanation falls short in the same way as the last three videos i've watched. The explanation of private cloud sounds exactly like the on-premise solution that companies have been using since the dawn of e-commerce. Maybe it's my own limitations but I still can't conceptualize the difference.

    Much appreciation for this one. My department has been getting involved with AWS setups (except for me--I've been working with other projects) and I really need to catch up with my peers. I'm still a newbie to the cloud unfortunately.

    Namaste Public cloud costs build up depending on how much data is moved in and out of the cloud , for instance application fetches from a database. However in private cloud does not have this cost component as one operates only in their own domain Thanks

    What is the major difference between private cloud and on-prem? I am quite confused about it. They both seems to be the same thing because in private cloud also, It seems Company is setting up its own infrastructure to host the apps on it which seems to be same as on prem solution

  • @mikerodrick5354

    @mikerodrick5354

    On the surface, they are very similar. Both give you access to corporate resources. The difference is how you connect to those resources. On-premises infrastructure provides access to corporate resources only when you connect to the work network, either by physically being at the network (at work) or connected using a VPN or RDP. Private cloud allows access to corporate resources using a browser. There is no need for special VPN software, or establishing a remote RDP session, etc., all you need is an internet connection.

    @@mikerodrick5354 Thank you for that answer. I've been looking around for videos about private cloud just because I'm still confused with the difference between these two. You helped many of us to get over with this confusion.

    I still don't understand the difference between having a single tenant server in a Co-Lo vs private cloud. Is it hardware or software and / or design?

  • @mikerodrick5354

    @mikerodrick5354

    3 жыл бұрын

    It's all about who owns / is responsible for the physical hardware. In a single tenant in a co-lo (dedicated host), your organization is the only tenant on that physical host, but the cloud provider maintains the physical host. Private cloud is the phrase used to describe a cloud computing platform that is implemented internal, that is within the corporate firewall, under the control of the IT department. You would be responsible for maintaining the physical hardware. That being said, it's not always that black and white. For example, Microsoft advertises their Azure Dedicated Host as "Your very own private cloud in Azure". It's not really a private cloud by most definitions, but it does offer privacy from other tenants. Thanks Microsoft 🤦‍♂️ Hope this helps.

    So is the vps I rent cloud?

  • @ITProTv

    @ITProTv

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes - I would say it is! Consider how it meets the 5 NIST components. The only sneaky one you might not meet is if the provider you rent from does not permit elasticity (grow up and down dynamically). But I would say....close enough!
