Nobody handles their tarantulas as calmly as you. You make every T look like a beginner T in your videos. There is a lot to learn from watching you do your thing.

I have never seen an OBT moved without threat posture. That right there was experience and practice!! So impressive.

She is stunning 😍 feel sorry for obt's they get such a bad rap because of some stupid ppl poking and upsetting them before they make their vids so they get a nasty reaction for the video and then get more views because the poor spider freaked out , such a shame because as you've just proven if given respect and treated right they aren't as bad as ppl make them out to be. Great video as always Dave, Camera Lady she's perfect 🥰

This is exactly what i have been saying, OBT's have a reputations as mean, agressive etc.. even they can be really nice spiders. They just dont handle stress very well. But definetly they arent agressive. I just love these videos❤ Allways high respect towards spiders and great info! 😊

@@denisetaylor4567 I can believe that 😄 I have 5 OBT:s and all of them are quite laid back spiders, surely they are fast moving and reactive but not mean or angry at all.. They hide fast but when i need to do some maintenance they dont mind at all, just be nice and slow 🥰 They can be pretty curious too, its bit scary at first, calmness is the key. We have a curlyhair too, but she is just chilling in her cottage allways and do not enjoy visitors at all 😂 kicks hairs pretty easily 😄 I just LOVE OBT 😄 they are wonderful spiders 🥰
After watching this video I finally plucked up the courage and rehoused my obt. It went better than I thought thanks to you Mr Daves beasties 🕷

You said it was a big spider. Dave, It's a sodding monster!
Rehoused my obt just now. Gone with the extra humidity. And a very similar corkbark setup, time will tell. Thought it was gonna be a nice calm rehouse. Until i was grabbing a photo and she'd bolted up and out and across the carpet haha. 3rd OBT, my first crazy one lol

Very good video, as always! Anyway, the reason why they can climb glass it's not the claws. The claws can't do anything on the glass. Their legs have scopulae, very very thin hair having a lot of surface. This surface allows to adhere to the glass thanks to the Van der Waals forces at molecular level
MORE DAVEY AND THE SHPOIDAHS! sidenote : CameraLady being muffled and sounding like one of the adults from the old Peanuts cartoons is also very cute and wholesome.
You are so methodical and prepared. I don't even watch other spider videos because the keepers think they have to act like clowns and then they play with the spiders like they are toys. We are keepers, not children acting with abandon with living things. Kudos to you, sir.

What a gorgeous old world spider. It's amazing how agile these big brutes are.
What a beautiful Orange Bitey Thing!
Like I know you said you had a rather large OBT and I knew that while looking through the lid there was a large spider in there but I wasn't quite anticipating how thick that spider was. And then how absolutely gentle she was. What a lovely OBT. And how nice of her to really let you get a good look at her sex. She's really lovely.

This is what I love to see. My OBT is such a good baby, never threatens me, and (disclaimer) I handle her once in a while. She’s seriously just curious and laid back because I’m not giving her a reason to feel threatened. SUPER great eater too. Just observe your spiders behaviour and mannerisms
Wonderful piece of footage and information.
I had a Haplopelma minax - evil attitude. Use to hear it in the middle of the night running around upside down on the mesh lid. Nightmare 😢

She would be the jewel of practically any collection. Her girth, her size, her colour, Gorgeous, gorgeous spider.
Cool to see that T laying web in its enclosure to the left of Dave 🕸🕷
That video was so fun! I always learn so much from you. I have 2 OBTs and they are juveniles. I think they are super sweet. I’ve never gotten a threat pose and so far they don’t ever seem defensive. I have an LP that is much more… well… hungry than most of my Ts. It scares me a little. It learned that when I open up the enclosure that food is coming. I wish she would settle down.
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous OBT Dave and quite large, she is very well behaved what an awesome baboon spider! Camera lady beautiful footage as always, great rehousing guys thanks so much!!🕷
She's so big, yet so gentle! What a looker too! I'm sure everyone is glad you purchased her
The channel "bugsnstuff" films them in Tanzania brooding slings about 4 ft up a vertical cliff in the crags, climbers. Luv your show Dave

Forced to agree. That is one BIG beautiful OBT.
I am brutally arachnophobic ( specially with tarantulas ) but I'm fascinated by the way you build the new houses so I hold my balls tight and go through the video. BTW , I don't kill them, I have them captured without damage and released away from my place.
OMG another OBT! I'm a happy happy girl. She is an absolutely beautiful big girl! Stunning! Thank you!!
Beautiful video of the rehousing of the "monster" of spiders!😅 You are truly amazing!
That is an amazing looking spider.
Good job Dave and Camera Lady on the rehouse for OBT. I always look forward to seeing a video from Dave's Little Beasties.
Dave is the master of diplomacy! When HE says:" They ARE quick to defend themselves", I say:" They are absolutely psycho."😂
If people get worried about their Spider after a rehouse, what I used to do, is place a couple of crickets in the enclosure after a rehouse or cleaning of the aquarium and my Spiders used to calm down as they began to eat. Only once did I try to breed 1 of my females, after finding out that I had a male, but she ate him instead. But anyway, I never worried about my Spiders because of all of the years of dealing with them even when I was catching Spiders as a child!
When you first touched her with the paint brush to see how she'd react, I thought she'd square off and attack the brush. Instead she acted like a ticklish little girl. You made friends already. LOL
What an all-around stunning spider! Size, color, behavior all exceptional. Thanks for a very interesting video.
This was one of my first types of spider's. I don't see mine much anymore lol. Got is when it was very small. I had no idea they were so defensive until I got it home. I love how colorful they are.
i could listen to you talk about spiders all day...... thanks for another video Dave!
for an OBT she is a well mannered young lady
Dave's videos really are brilliant, incredibly informative, great display of husbandry and how to create the perfect environment. Dave's handling of his spiders is really fantastic.

I have a sling OBT. That one is HUGE. It likes it's height & has webbed up it's container.
I just bought a 1 week old OBT! Excited!
A beautifully calm rehouse. Good for you, good for her. 👍
She is sure a very big and pretty spider.
I learn so much from your videos. I would cringe when someone would say OBT but your video made me understand them. Thank you Dave ❤
Cracking vidoe and spider. Am i understanding correctly that you have bought this specifically as are hoping to breed bigger OBT? Are you planning on keeping the biggest from the next generation to do the same, eventually having an army of yorkshire terrier sized OBT?
He/she is HUGE for an obt! Impressive
Woah ! That's the largest obt I've ever seen the size of her/him apparently the (typical form ) can be the largest but this ones a show stopper weldone dave and camera lady
Wow buddy. She is a big beast and absolutely stunning. The colour and markings are awesome.
Absolutely stunning OBT colours are amazing really want one now thanks for sharing 👍
Beautiful OBT Dave, amazing addition to your collection and channel! Just wanted to comment regarding the mesh segment of the video and share my recent personal experience. I lost my P.metallica back on the 10th of April when she got one of her front legs AND the opposite side back leg stuck on the mesh of an Exo nano tall. I knew she was due any day for a molt and she actually attempted to molt to free herself but obviously couldn't move her two stuck legs. The carapace popped and the abdomen started to peel away, but that's as far as she made it. By the time I got home and found her she was completely lifeless, fully stretched out, stuck to the mesh. Her death was no fault of her own. That one is on me as I had the plexiglass and tools to remove the mesh and mod the lid and should have done so before putting her in. I put her in thinking, meh, I'll replace it before it's an issue. She was in there less than a month before tragedy struck. My P.irminia got stuck to the mesh while I was home the very next day and I was able to free her. The mesh in all my exo's (luckily only 3 of them in use so far) was removed and replaced with drilled plexiglass that same week. I am glad you've not experienced such a tragedy in your collection as of yet. Be it 40 years or just 1 short month, it's not a problem until it is.

@@daveslittlebeasties I was heartbroken to be honest. Mostly that I wasn't at home to help her. I think that was the worst part, knowing she got stuck there and suffered there while I was away doing life things. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply! I mean no disrespect, just wanted to share why I won't leave the mesh in them in the future! It was a sad outcome for sure. I even kept a rose hair on 2 inches of sub (cause people said to back then) in a 10 gallon with a mesh lid for over 10 years without an issue. Ya just never know I guess. Looking forward to your next video! Happy keeping!
Nice job. So glad for the girl coming to the Beastie room. Beautiful!
She's lovely! She's also the largest obt I've ever seen. Good thinkin' camera lady! I'd have gone back and purchased her too!

I would love to see follow-ups to your rehousing videos so we can see what these beasties do to their "sterile" new environments. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much Dave! I have worried about mesh screens for years and also have been terrified my heavy-bodied terrestrial babies might fall and injure themselves. Sometimes we overthink and lose faith in our animals due to either outdated information or through posts that exaserbate situations. I have been told never to put anything in my tarantula enclosures that comes from outside. That's about to change. I also agree that with gentle care and respect, it's the best way to keep our spiders from dealing with unnecessary stress. Thank you again!

@@xraphaelxx same. Found my A. Geniculata hanging from one toe as well. I cut a piece of acrylic to fit the lid but slightly smaller, drill holes, and attach it to the underside of the mesh with a few dabs of hot glue on the lid frame.
What a big, beautiful girl!! Love her!
You are so peaceful! I try to treat my tarantulas with gentleness and respect when I have to move them and I feed right after so they don't stay upset with me. Beautiful spood, great video!!!
Well done. Your technique and calm manner is wonderful. I hope this does turn out to be a female. She has wonderful genetics to pass on. Congratulations on this lovely new addition. Sending love and light from here.
These spicy buggers are one of my top 3 species
Had 1 of those too, with 6 other Baboon Spiders 🕷️, my favorite being the King Baboon Spider 🕷️ that I had. Beautiful, but quick and aggressive, still, it was always fun to watch them do what they do when attacking prey items! Love 💕 them!
Dave and Mrs Camera Lady 😁👋🏼☺️
OBT= Orange Beautiful Thing! She is gorgeous! So calm it was almost unbelievable. 🕷❤️
Beautiful spider as always. I'm not too surprised at how well the rehouse went, you truly have a gift with these. As far as spiders not losing their grip, my B. boehmei often climbs around and more often than not, if she's roaming on the lid, she'll lose her footing and fall down to the substrate. Her enclosure is 2/3 filled with sub, which is more than adequate to ensure she doesn't suffer any serious falls. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Wow! Dave, your style is so refreshing to watch. So calm and easy going.

OBT: Orange Behaving Thing LOL.
Beautiful. Thank you for showing patience and proper care.
Beautiful work, Dave! The OBT, despite (or perhaps due to) its reputation, often yields more successful rehouses for us. They tend to be more predictable than other Old Worlds, in my personal opinion. As always, your style and professionalism is an inspiration to watch. Keep up the excellent work! (p.s. fully agree with your terrestrial/arboreal hybrid setup 👍)
She is absolutely gorgeous!! Thank you for sharing!!!
