Floor Jansen = Floor Yansen Tuomas Holopainen = Thomas Holo-paynen Marco Hietala = Marco Hee-yetala Kai Hahto = Just say Kai if you have problem with the Hahh-to former drummer (Wacken): Jukka Nevalainen = Yucka Neva-lainen Emppu Vourinen = Em-poo Voor-eenen Troy is English, so I'm not gonna mess with that. The bagpipes he's playing are Irish bagpipes, known as Uilleann pipes, pronounced "Yulian". (somewhat simplified)

I don't know if anyone has mentioned yet, but that live vocal, was an hour and ten minutes into the gig... She had already been belting her way through ten previous songs.. oh.. and she'd only joined the band 6 months earlier. Floor Jansen is absolutely unsurpassed. But then again, so are pretty much all of the band.

She was brought on as a stop gap after they moved on from Annette. It was this performance that cemented her as the permanent lead vocalist. Odd thing was she was recovering from burnout from her previous bands and her confidence was shaky. She has said that her Nightwish experience rebuilt her confidence. I consider this to be the best live performance ever. I have seen other live videos of this song but this is the pinnacle.

The Nightwish Army is coming, I can hear it. This epic performance is the most common way to open the Door. This Official Live is of course professionally recorded, mixed and edited for the most enjoyable experience (all is still recorded Live). For me this (and the whole Wacken 2013) show is the best live performance that I've ever seen. Greetings from Finland and stay healthy!

Thank you. We of the Army always like when our beloved band is treated with respect and care. Now, there are only about 100 songs that you can react to... Remember: Always do the live version if possible. Always listen to the Nightwish Army so you choose the best version of each song (Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013 or Buenos Aires 2012 / Poet and the Pendelum from Wembley 2015 / The Greatest Show on Earth from Tampere 2015 ). If you want to know anything about the band, just react to a song and ask a question.

A few things worth mentioning about Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen). She has been fronting metal bands since 1997. Nightwish has been her third band and the first one where she was not the band leader and songwriter. Her previous bands were first After Forever followed by ReVamp. She is Dutch, the band is Finnish and Troy is English. Her six years of music training includes opera, musical theatre, classical music, rock and other popular music genres. To date she has sung in eight different languages, speaks Dutch, English, Swedish, some Finnish and I'm not sure, but perhaps German as well. She is over 6' tall and powerfully built. She also has been a voice teacher and is a professed vocal nerd. In Nightwish she will sing using opera, musical theatre and her rock voice, which you heard in this song, plus she'll use distortion, vocal fry and she can growl like a dude. She is capable of switching musical styles from one note to the next and has an impressive toolbox for adding colour and texture to the music. Floor (pronounced just like 'floor' in English) is classed as a dramatic soprano, which is the most powerful soprano voice, though she rejects operatic classifications for her voice as not being applicable to metal. When you include her growls, she has range of more than four octaves. She also has the ability to sing very softly and emotionally, so if you check out those songs, have some tissues handy.

You just summoned the Nightwish Army!) Thank you for your reaction! Floorgasm achieved!) Loved that you read about the band beforehand! Information you read was describing their current newest album - Endless Forms Most Beautiful released in 2015. On the April 10th, in 5 days from now, they're releasing their new album Human :||: Nature. Well, you've just witnessed Her Majesty Northern Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen, she is Dutch). She has classical background, rock academy behind, and used to be a vocal coach for a number of years. She is a very versatile singer and can sing anything from more pop-y style, classic opera, to metal screams and growls. Floor is the most versatile and powerful female singer today. And she is really tall, I mean 6'1 + hills. Nightwish, as you already read, is a Finland symphonic metal band formed in 1996. Floor joined Nightwish in 2012 in the middle of a world tour, and before that they had Anette as a frontwoman, and before Anette - Tarja (Tar-ya). For Floor it was first really big gig with NW, 82K people, at the time she was only for a few month with the band. The bassist with a cool beard is Marco, and he sings some parts too. The mastermind behind 99% of lyrics and music is a keyboardist Tuomas, as you already know. Guitarist name is Emppu, and the drummer in this show is Jukka (Yukka), but later he was replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues. Flutes/uilleann pipes/guitar/vocals - Troy, he did not perform in this song. Nightwish is better live, always, so if live performance is available, go for it. In their performances, they often using recorded backtrack of a classical orchesra for their songs. They have very diverse music, from more light songs to epic scores like this, and to really heavy metal stuff. For the next step, I can suggest listening to: - Storytime from the same Wacken 2013 live - for move heavy: Ghost River, Song Of Myself, both from Wacken 2013 also - If you want to explore more Floor versatility, check out her performances on a TV show Beste Zangers in 2019. You just starting your journey with Nightwish, and be prepared to be surprised (and sometimes shocked) time and time again! Their music is very emotional and diverse. Greetings from Moscow and stay safe! :) P.S. Floor and Simone are close friends (you mentioned Epica). Take a look at Epica - Sancta Terra live @ Retrospect Show featuring Floor Jansen ("Floor Yansen" - do not forget))).

The band is from Finland and founded in 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists 1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005) 2 Anette Olzon (Swedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012) 3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of. The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJx52s2mh66zdbg.html ) As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZaim6mcqryom9o.html BTW that last note she just sang? Nightwish fans created a whole new word for when she does something impressive like that. We call it a Floorgasm. Welcome to the club and boy are you going to receive a lot of traffic on your channel. ;-)

Better not challenge the NightWish Army: they will descend on you, and they scare me! Personally not a hard-core Nightwish fan, but they are amazing live and they don't fit the standard mold. My favorites are 'Dead's Boy's Poem'(Buenos Aires 2018), 'Song of Myself'(Wacken 2013), '7 Days to the wolves' (Wembley 2015), 'greatest show of earth'(tempere 2015), 'poet and the pendulum'(Wembley 2015), 'ghost love score' (Wacken 2013) in that order. Important: just watch them live, so much more epic then their recordings. The recordings and video's are good, but not many bands are this good live.

Ethirs suggestions are nice choices, well but if you ask "what songs would you like us to review" the most common answer is YES :) Just select videos with decent sound quality (no phone cams, big Nightwish live events have professional quality audio/video recording/mixing) and you really cant go wrong...

Most of their songs live performed are like this one. Epic, unreally good and .... some are only 6 minutes long, but some are 10 or 12. Or more, like The greatest show on earth. This Ghost Love Score was about the tenth in this open air concert in Wacken, but not the last. You can try to view the whole concert, almost 80 minutes. But your neck... uh...

Congratulations! You've discovered one of the best bands in the world! Welcome to the beautiful and wonderful world of Nightwish (and its very dedicated, slightly mental, but completely harmless and peaceful following, the Nightwish Army)! To start off, here's some information for you to get acquainted with the band and it's current (and former) members. Nightwish is a Female Fronted Symphonic Metal band from Finland. Founded in 1996 by keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen (1996-present, composer, poet, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist (but dedicated to keyboard only), record producer and creator of 95% of everything Nightwish, including most of the orchestration). Joined by guitar player Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (1996-present), 1st vocalist Tarja Turunen (1996-2005, operatic vocals), drummer Jukka Nevalainen (1997-2014 temporary leave/2019 definitive leave), bass player Sami Vänskä (1998-2001), bass player Marko Hietala (2001-present), 2nd vocalist Anette Olzon (2007-2012, strong pop vocals), multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley (2007-2013 guest musician, 2013-present permanent member, Uilleann pipes, Bouzouki, flutes, whistles, guitar, vocals), 3rd and current vocalist Floor Jansen (2012-2013 temporary replacement, 2013-present permanent member, most versatile vocalist, pop, rock, metal, metal growling, operatic). The best way to begin your Nightwish journey is the complete Wacken 2013 live concert (kzread.info/dash/bejne/o22Zra6Jc8bPh9o.html) with 3rd and current vocalist Floor Jansen. Then go back in time to the complete End Of An Era 2005 live concert (kzread.info/dash/bejne/lGh_1sOyodfTpaw.html) with 1st vocalist Tarja Turunen. Then go to Sidney 2008 (kzread.info/dash/bejne/fayM1duxlZfQZJc.html), Lowlands 2008 (kzread.info/dash/bejne/m62qq5KyZdmrY6Q.html) and Montreux Jazz Festival 2012 (kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaij2ryqkq7Fe84.html) live concerts with 2nd vocalist Anette Olzon. Anette's vocals are best enjoyed on the albums. Live she's ok at best. Then come back to Floor, live at Tampere 2015 (kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKeC1s2EYKadeM4.html), Live at Wembley Arena 2015 (kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJOeydurnLK0gMY.html), live in Buenos Aires 2019. Then watch all of Floor's performances on the Dutch tv show Beste Zangers 2019. Finally, listen to the songs of the 1st part of the new double-album Human. :II: Nature. in order of appearance on the album. And if you're still with us by then, listen to the 2nd instrumental part of the double-album. The whole double-album is a masterpiece. Enjoy the journey! The Nightwish Army will be with you along the way.

"I like opera and classical". I've been listening to those, plus metal, for more than 50 years (yeah, I'm THAT old) and Nightwish is by far the finest synthesis of all three...because the music is original to Nightwish. It's not metal with classical backing: it's wholly original, thanks to the composer/keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen. Also, their songs are distinctive and individual, always trying new things. I suggest now "Yours is an empty hope" - Wembley 2015 and "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" - Buenos Aires 2018 (for a recent video of the band). Much more to get into. Also, note that Floor Jansen is a shade over 6' and favors 4-5" heels when she performs, so her presence combined with her voice makes for quite the overpowering performer.

Congratulations on your first Floorgasm, boys ;) (a play on the vocalist's name, Floor Jansen). Also kudos on taking the time to read on the band's background. Few reactors do that. You're in for a fantastic journey if you decide to delve more into this band, especially if you already like other symphonic metal bands like Epica (who once listed Nightwish as one of their inspirations). I suggest reacting to Romanticide - Live at Wacken (same show) next - it's a heavier, more metal song so a different side of Nightwish altogether (they have many of them).

First, shout out to my Brothers in Arms. Glad you found this song and enjoyed it. The goosebumps... those are your first Floorgasm. Now, look up Floor Jansen(Yansen) and Henk Poort singing Phantom of the Opera. The founder of Nightwish, Tuomas(Too-omas), is the keyboardist. Marko Heitala, the bassist, has an incredible singing voice himself. Look up Nightwish’s The Islander. As for Epica, look up Sancta Terra. Floor is the guest singer with Simone Simons. There are many Nightwish songs to look at. I honestly didn’t listen to your first part, because I wanted to see you get your first Floorgasm, which unsurprisingly took seconds of her opening singing, lol. So, I might be repeating things here, but the band has had three lead female vocalists. Tuomas always meant the band to have a female vocalist. All three leads have been champions of their music, though they sing differently. Floor has been by far the most popular. She also does her own singing as well as singing with her husband and other bands as a guest. Like I said, she is very popular. Enjoy your admittance to the Nightwish Army. I look forward to you making reactions to the songs I suggested. Out here-

Nightwish Army assemble! One song done, another 115 ish to go (not including solo stuff or other live performances.). Plus a new album next week. Every single song is amazing and epic in its own way. Welcome to KZread's biggest rabbit hole lads, this is the musical version of Pandora's box. You just got your first Floorgasm's about five seconds after she started... but did i mention that Marco the bassist is an amazing singer as well? That Troy can play almost anything? The drummer is one of metal's most insane drummers? Emppu is an awesome guitarist? And Tuomas...well, the greatest composer of our generation, bar none. This group honestly sucked up 75% of the worlds musical talent, thats why they stand out so much. Its almost unfair. Enjoy your journey, we will be here with you :)

Best method for reacting to Nightwish that I figured from watching reactors and discovering them recently and exploring their catalog myself: Keep the particularly long and complex songs listed below, if you have not watched them already, for after you have seen all the more standard ones from the 4 live shows mentioned in the numbered list: - Ghost Love Score (Wacken) 10 minutes - The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) 14 minutes - Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) 21 minutes 1- Just do all the Wacken 2013 songs, they are all great 2- Then the Wembley 2015 ones that are not part of the Wacken show 3- Then the remaining songs from Tampere 2015 that were not in the previous 2 shows mentioned 4- Then the older songs from Buenos Aires 2019 that were not in the previous 3 shows mentioned 5- To see what they can do with a cover and if you like Marco's singing, watch their interpretation of Pink Floyd's High Hopes 5- Then you can explore Floor's versatility with her band ReVamp's live performances of the songs Disdain at Graspop and Wild Card at Bloodstock 6- And finally go in the deep end of the Floor talent pool by reacting to her performances on Beste Zangers in the order the episodes aired From watching a lot of reactions, in my opinion this is the most efficient order to discover the rabbit hole that is Nightwish and Floor Jansen. That should keep you busy for a while. 😀

You mentioned Epica. Floor and Simone are the best of friends. You should check out a great performance from Epic with Floor as a guest singer. See link below. Both of you did a wonderful and fun reaction video. You both seemed to get and appreciate the amazing talent of Nightwish. However, you have only touched upon a small portion of what The Dutch Queen of symphonic metal and the boys have to offer. Most of the time we (the Nightwish army) suggest to next check out the heavier side of Nightwish and react to "Romanticide" from this same live Wacken show 2013. Nightwish may be the best live band on the planet and we all suggest you watch live videos for the majority of your reactions. Can you hear the rolling thunder? That would be the Nightwish army on the march to give you and your channel support and suggestions to further your journey of discovery. If you decide to continue? Hang on tight, it is one hell of a ride with twists, and turns, and surprises around every corner. Once again great job men. Be well and stay safe. Until next time, peace! kzread.info/dash/bejne/rK6TmbF8c7TSiNY.html - Nightwish - "Romanticide" kzread.info/dash/bejne/laxmlLuumpXUqso.html - Epic WFloor Jansen - "Sancta Terra"

This is my absolute favorite band and especially with Floor Jansen they are a better live band. I would also recommend some of their studio songs after you get through more of the live shows Wacken 2013 is the best then anything from Wembley Arena, Tampere and Buenos Aires 2018 if you want to see their original vocalist Tarja I would recommend Wishmaster or wish I had an Angel live from end of an era dvd otherwise I would recommend either Storytime or ghost River live from wacken 2013.

If you like opera, you will like to check Nightwish first singer Tarja (1996 - 2005). Try "The phantom of the opera" live. You are in to an amazing journey with Nightwish. Cheers from Portugal.

IMPORTANT info: There is only one song from Nightwish that will sometimes get blocked. That's Poet and the Pendelum. If, no, when you do react to that one, it might be helpful to pause for several seconds, rewind a bit after commenting, edit in some stupid "paused due to copyright reasons" signs for 8 seconds or more, etc, etc.

There are a few other songs like Amaranth, While Your Lips Are Still Red, or The Islander where the official video might get blocked but the live version is good to go. Sahara will also sometimes get blocked, though Poet is the one that is almost guaranteed to be blocked, which sucks cause it's a GREAT song.

Oh ho! Did I hear you mention Epica? Fun fact, Mark Jansen and Floor were in her first band After Forever together! Nightwish is a visual band, they are best enjoyed live, you will get the feeling, the emotion, and the sense of mastery of their craft. They put their entire heart and soul into every song, every performance. It is easy when you have the talent they have in the band. Tuomas Holopainen the keyboardist writes 95% of the matria, he is not a song writer he is a composer. He has been compared by his peers to a modern day Mozart. The are not your typical 3 o4 chord song type band as you heard. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Nightwish, once you enter you will never want to leave.
