Can we pause to appreciate how flawless this look is though? I mean I am loving it! Okay re the video I have always had dry lips, cracks at the side even. After following Dr. Drey I now put a light coating of Cerave lotion followed by Vaseline at night and in over a year no issues at all. I use the Cerave PM dupe by CVS at night as Dr. Alexis mentioned niacinamide helps my tretinoin be more effective. My husband uses their moisturizing cream at night after shaving and his skin is much better. I will spend the money, hi Dr. Henry but if it works and is inexpensive I am not mad at it.

The only thing that makes me mad about CeraVe, is all the hype that it has gotten over the last two years. I always have the cream and cleansers in my collection. I have eczema and live in Canada. To me, I need simplicity that works. The over hyping of Cerave has led to things being sold out and the prices getting higher. Every time I click your videos, I spend at least the first 3 minutes just staring at your skin and not listening then I have to rewind to make sure I didn’t miss something. Your personality, commentary, and beauty are just radiant!!! Now to the nitty gritty! Paula’s Choice BHA-I really haven’t noticed any difference, I got it for texture and to speed up breakout recovery (I know, not the best theory but…) I used it consistently and didn’t not see anything, still have it, will probably finish but won’t repurchase Skinceuticals Vit CE Ferulic-I wanted a vitamin c and everyone raved that this one was the gold standard; it was EXPENSIVE, the most I’ve ever spent on skincare, the first day I used it incorrectly at night (super eager) and woke up and my texture was gone, used it underneath my makeup and my face was absolutely breathtaking, continued to use until it finished-my hyperpigmentation really evened out, and my texture was non-existent, yet I’m still not sold on it. I just repurchased to make sure it was that and not an amalgam of all the products I was using -Supergoop Play Sunscreen-I love early morning workouts outdoors and my gym has clear windows so I needed one that was sweat resistant and didn’t burn my eyes and this did it. It does make me shiny but not oily if that makes sense. And since I’m abt to be drenched in sweat I don’t mind. Haven’t finished it but may repurchase. I do have to remember to shake it up or it comes out separated -Ive been seeing a lot abt good genes by Sunday Riley-when it came out in 2016/7 (or when I became privy and started using it) IT CHANGED MY SKIN! That was my first skincare purchase purchase. I was waiting tables in grad school and all my customers would comment on how flawless my skin was. It was expensive though, and I’m sure there’s more out on the market, Vicky Logan here in YT recommended the acne.org glycolic or AHA lotion for abt $20 and that was fairly comparable for evening out texture. -Dr. Alexis S recommended Finacea gel (prescribed Azaelic acid) and a tranxemic acid mixture from an Amazon retailer and I, determined to get rid of the hyperpigmentation on my back, got both and saw nothin’, which was disheartening but I’m still hopeful those actives work and it just might have been right product, wrong time. I could go on but I just wanted to add my two cents, the comments section of your vids is always so helpful and I wanted to return to the community🥰

I think cerave is a great no fuss skin care line. If you have reactive skin, or if you’ve tried an acid peel or exfoliant that has reeked havoc on your skin? It’s a great brand to just kinda reset and get you back on the right track. With that being said, I DO think it’s overhyped. I think it’s overhyped because cerave products have been the baseline for so many people for so many years and suddenly an influencer says it helped their skin and now the expectations are far beyond what they need to be. I feel that way about most skin care products. Use what your skin loves!

I abhor petrolatum, I don’t like how it feels. However, when I was a distance runner I would use it on my feet and high chafe areas. I prefer lanolin even though it smells, lol. Last winter my skin went through some things and tried the Fresh products first and it was okay. I thought it would be better in the summer months. I then tried Tatcha and found my love. I tried most of their products for dry skin. Some I felt were overpriced (not so much overhyped). I still faithfully use the Rice Wash, Rice Polish, Dewy Cream, and Kissu Lip Mask.

Cerave is a boring line in today’s marketplace, and it is starting to be the brand people love to hate. I enjoy the cream-to-foam cleanser for no make-up days or post- workout and the skin renewing night cream when my barrier needs attention. Hubs keeps the pm lotion as his day and night moisturizer - I would keep it in my am routine but I’m not a moisturizer loyalist and change it up by season. Overhyped: Timeless Vitamin C. It did nothing for my hyperpigmentation or signs of aging. Worth the Hype: Curology for tretinoin. Great customer service and formulation options.

Yeah, it feels like a lotion but it isn't and you should trust it to clean your skin. It's really hydrating... The CeraVe SA cleanser with salicylic acid was very helpful when I had acne... But I don't think it's for everyday use so I went back to the hydrating cleanser when my face okay.

The neutrogena hydroboost ruined my skins barrier and it took me a minute to figure out why because everyone raves about how it’s healing? And I agree I want a moisturizer with NO actives since I use essences, toners, serums etc. Everything I’ve triedfrom Cerave gave me a poor reaction to as well. I wanted to like the moisturizer but it felt like I was putting nothing on my face, the wash dried my skin out and the sunscreen pilled like crazy with my other products. I eventually gave up on the brand overall and haven’t looked back. I’ve since found a simple active free eczema moisturizer that I’m having trouble replacing because everything has niacinamide in it which also dries my skin out if I use multiple products containing it😂

So far at different periods since my issue started in mid April which began shortly after taking a prescribed vitamin (and I have SINCE STOPPED taking it), I've used much hyped Tumeric and vitamin C serum. Before that I used Palmers fade cream for dark spots, tried turmeric clay mask, apricot scrubs, biore charcoal face wash "to prevent acne"...IDK anymore besides the fact that instead of my skin getting better or just when it SEEMS to be getting better, I get new breakouts so I can't determine whether it's any of the products I've used or I'm using to cause more breakouts or what...I'm honestly just desperate, confused, and frustrated at this point.

Yes yes yes. Albolene is UNDERRATED. I felt compelled to share lol. I started using it about 15 years ago, but not for skincare AT FIRST. I put it on the areas I’m targeting during my workouts! A Gym hack that changed my body. It makes you SWEAT heavily. So fast forward to 2013 and EVERYBODY is “oil cleansing” 🙄 lol. So one day I did the Albolene on my face to experiment, I was terrified because it’s basically petroleum! I thought it would clog my pores (even though it’s a makeup remover lol). Im a dude, so I’m not used to putting products that reference makeup on my face lol. So I let the albolene sit for at least 15-20 like I do on my body. Afterwards I add my normal cleanser to the albolene on my face, It creates a creamy lather. use my spinning sonic face brush to gently exfoliate. Let that sit for a few minutes and rinse throughly. It instantly changed my skin barrier. So after that experience, I now do it HEAD TO TOE a few times a week lol. The longer the albolene sits, the better. As a dark skin black male, I no longer know what being ashy is 😂 using Albolene all these years has turned me into a mutant. I can go DAYS without putting on lotion/oil/moisturizer after showering and will not get dry skin! Except my hands from excessive hand washing/sanitizer. BUY THE ALBOLENE Y’ALL. Seriously, if anything start putting little on your targeted areas before your work out. It will help tone skin and loose water weight. It works for me🖤🖤

When I wasn’t being lazy with my skincare I did use the Paula’s choice 2% bha liquid exfoliate and I noticed my skin wasn’t as oily as it is now. I need to get back to it.

hey boo! actives refers to the active ingredients in a skincare product or it can also refer to a collective group of products that change the skin (ie acne products, exfoliating toners, retinol, etc). so for the paula's choice 2% bha, the active ingredient (well one of them) is the BHA aka salicylic acid.

Cerve is most definitely not for me. I tried the cleanser once years ago. My skin is dry enough and that product made my skin feel extremely tight and uncomfortable. I did try one cleanser that I felt was just prefect for me it’s the one by verse. So if the cleanser turns me off I will never try any other product I. Their line.

That supergoop left my skin sticky as hell, could not stand the way it set on my skin

I think the Supergoop is wildly overpriced, but the hype really is justifiable, imo. I'm only defending it now because it's raised my interest in cosmetic elegance, so I'm currently leaning more towards the Japanese sunscreen market (Skin Aqua and Bioré)... but I could always count on the Unseen Sunscreen to handle business. 😅

The kylie skin sunscreen is a ripoff/dupe of the supergoop one.

I agree. I’ve repurchased the Unseen Sunscreen multiple times.

I have been using rubbing alcohol to cleanse my skin for years and have had no issues with it. Nothing else cleanses my skin as well as Isopropyl, rubbing alcohol 70% and I mean NOTHING. I use nothing lower or higher and I will follow up with a toner that contains an active ingredient which is the only reason I use a toner. Alcohol makes sure I get the most out of any product by ensuring maximum penetration. I personally think rubbing alcohol gets an undeserved bad rep. It's much cheaper and less time-consuming than trying to find a special product that does not do half as well in performing what should be rather mundane and hassle-free as cleansing the skin. I have tried other products and nothing leaves my cotton swabs s clean and oil-free as alcohol would after so many applications. Witch hazel is a joke to my skin.

I grew up on using vaseline but I wouldn't use it today after everything I have learned as a formulator. This quote from a passage from the book Power of the Seed, has always stuck with me and keeps me using products with natural/naturally derived ingredients. "Natural ingredients that spring from the plants and earth speak to our skin and body in a language it can understand. Synthetic chemicals are just so much junk food and a language so foreign as to not be recognizable to our tissuea. They may appear to help in the short term, but over the long term the skin grays and looses vitality. Natural plant-based oils, our favorite subject, are an excellent source of great skin care." No disrespect to any dermatologist though, not trying to step on anyone's coins😊

Vaseline is from the earth literally. Petroleum is from the earth same as clay and other vitamins we need: zinc, aluminum etc
