'How many times can they change time signatures?" Welcome to Tool. "How much emotional maturity does it take to write that?" Welcome to Maynard. Lateralus is really where Maynard started to settle into himself, I believe. It's where he learned to let go and to embrace what was around him. He'd taken all the lessons from the work he'd done previously and started to put them to use. Though you can still see edges and sore spots in later albums (through all bands I'm talking), after Lateralus, things come down a notch or two lol. He's a poet through and through. And no, no PhD. He actually went to art school after the army.

As a therapist, you should really do most all of the songs off their album "Lateralus". All the songs and lyrics on that album have the same theme.... relationships, and growth, both emotionally and spiritually. "The Grudge", "The Patient", "Parabol/Parabola", "Ticks and Leeches", "Lateralus". You just did "Schism", and the rest of the lyrics are just as inciteful. I think you'd really appreciate their messages. new sub here.

Would love to see you react to RØRY - “Alternative” would be a great one. “Family Tree” or “The Apology I’ll Never Receive” would also be good choices. She really epitomizes the healing power of music.

Please do the grudge. And Parabol/parabola, wings for marie/10000days, and the holy trilogy- disposition/reflection/triad. The Grudge helped me frame the purposeful letting go of grudges, parabol parabola is my absolute varioritw tool song(s) and did more for my mental health after losing many friends while deployed. The last 2 song combo recommendations are excellent in their own ways but, in any case I would Love to hear your reaction to them. There is fine line between appreciation of how the musicianship makes you feel and what the lyrics bring. Tool is amazing. Seeing them live in concert was one of the best experiences in my life.

Tool, PhD. I still haven't introduced my dad to Tool. He has A PhD in Psychology but I'm not sure he will enjoy it. Understand it yes. We could have hours of conversation about just this one song.😊❤

A lot of Tool’s videos are similar in nature, but have an intricate meaning. They are most definitely in a depth that you are apparently very aware of. New subscriber here. I’ve watched many of your reactions and they’re great.

I could have sworn I watched you react to this one already but I don't see a video of it in your playlist. I'm probably mistaking it for 46 & 2. Tool is right up your alley, brother. Lateralus and Parabola are from the same album as Schism. I highly recommend you check them out as well when you can get to them. Cheers!

Somewhat OT, here, but if you genuinely want to get more out of Tool, just listen, listen, listen. When you're to the point where you know every single upcoming note in every song on any given album, it all becomes the most soothing music you've ever heard. At that point, just listening is wonderful meditation. But don't worry--you'll still get more out of it, even years later. Edit: My point is, getting blown away and amazed the first time is normal. But keep at it. There's plenty more.
