Yes he personified the emotions. Happiness left and joy said she wasn't coming back because he fell in love with his pain and slept with his regrets. And remember he talked about in mansion that the room he slept in was the room with his regrets.

19:08 what I love about these two lines is that they are complimentary. They address both extremes. Don't flippantly reject where you came from. That is part of what made you who you are. But on the other hand, don't blindly accept what you've been told. Examine things for yourself.

I am 28 years old, I made bad decisions in life. Didn't graduate high school, never went for any further education, I have a job that I don't like but am good at so I stay. lately I decided I want to further my education and hopefully have a better future. going back to studying is not easy, everyone is in their early 20s, fresh from high school, no real life pressures on them, and way way smarter, and it is hard keeping my ego down and not running away lol. It will be one year at least before I complete everything I need to do in order to apply to the university of my choice, and I have a voice that keeps telling me to give up. But I don't want to give up, not now anyways, when I am only beginning this new journey. This video came out at the perfect time, because I was feeling kind of hopeless today and thinking maybe the light I was seeing in the darkness was imaginary. thank you

15:12 ... Man... That hit me hard. I turned 18 not long ago, and I feel like my life is just passing me by, like I'm not trying at all to live it, and I can already feel the regret I will have in the future for this. It just makes you realize how you still have the time to try and go for it. As long as you don't give up on yourself you will always still have time to change and give it your all. NF is just amazing. Even though it might hurt to expose your insecurities and past/regrets, he still did it, and in such an amazing way as well. It helped a lot of people for sure, be it minor problems or bigger ones. You gotta respect the guy.

My absolute favorite thing about this song, aside from the fact that every single line is a life lesson, is at the end. Those final lines sounded rushed (not musically though), as if he was running out of time and had to get it all out before it was time to go. That really solidified the track as one of his best, in my mind.

When you brought up joy, trust me your right, nf literally saved my life I can never articulate my feelings appropriately and rarely speak to people face to face, those lines he spoke in that verse is how we succumb to our negative emotions and so many of us become engrossed and wrapped up in these "relationships" with our negative emotions so much so it seems happiness isn't just missing but is actively missing sometimes even feeling like the emotions are just straight avoiding you, were can I find your discord link? I'd very much like to have a few conversations with you...when you're free of course

If you want song reccomendations, basically anything from Green Day is a safe bet, but especially the album 'American Idiot', which is a rock opera with some really emotional tracks like 'Wake me up when September ends' and 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams'. 'Basket Case', while not from that album, is pretty funny while still having a clear message, and is about a guy in therapy, so may fit well with your channel. Keep up the good content, getting different perspectives on music is always great.

Not Sure if I got the idea wrong of the Emotion Part but I think what He means is: Anger's a lier, He aint got no Respekt = That if you're angry you just Do Things That you will regret later on because while acting in Anger you were Not yourself and doin disrespectful things. I Fell in love with my pain = means to me that we got so used to beein hurt that whenever we think we did something wrong we want to feel pain in order to make it up. The "I slept with my regrets" = is the usual thing people probally have that whenever they go to bed they can't stop thinking about they're regrets until they fall asleep so they "slept with their regrets" Happiness saw it Happen, maybe that why she's up and left = could mean that whenever we See something that makes us happy we still not look at the happiness but rather look at Our regrets and Ignore the good Thing and end up seein the Bad Part in it. Which makes happiness feel Not wanted so its leaving. Joy called me a cheater, said she ain't coming back = probally means then that joy Sees us sleeping with Our regrets instead of going to bed thinking about the joy we had over the course of the day/week/years. So joy feels like we're sleeping with somebody else (like cheating in a relationship). Atleast this is the way I always thought about this, if this is what He meant i can't Tell since i got no background on it aswell. In the end I wanna say thanks to you I discovered your channel today and made the journey until here today. I've been listening to nf for about 2 years probally now and it can really help when you feel down but it's so great to See someone in your Position as a therapist reacting to this and cooming to the Same thoughts about what He meant or how He must've feeled. So thanks for your Videos its really great to hear someone talk about it knowing what He means. Keep up the great work. I'm sorry for All the missspelling im from german and my Smartphone just Donut want to use english words so there might be some words looking weird or to many spaces between.
