I'm starting undergrad this year and would love to see a follow up video to your study tips but specifically going into how you studied for each subject e.g. for stats in psych (highlighting an effective note taking system, revision timetable, resources etc) and for other units like neuroscience and intro to psych (what are your tips/systems for completing readings, essay writing, planning and your research process/methods). Would love to hear both of your thoughts :)

The amount of things you two juggled during honours year is very impressive! Gives me confidence to do the same.

Thanks guys, those are some really great tips! I'd love to see an interview with Wendy about why she decided to go down the combined Masters-PhD pathway and her experiences so far :)

You're both the best! Thank you for making this vid - I found it super helpful! Was also just wondering - what was your favourite and least favourite things about studying a Masters in Psych? And would you say it's quite similar to the Hons program (I'm assuming it varies between universities but would love to hear abt your experience) :))

Thanks for making this video Ro and Wendy! It was super helpful. I'm going into my 2nd year of BPsych this year so it was really cool to hear about the type of work and volunteering experience you girls had throughout your degrees. Hopefully I can land a psych related role this year but for now I'm very happy working as a library assistant which has nothing to do with psych. :))

Hey, do you think that I could have a BSc in Psych while having a minor and also getting a job? Or is that unrealistic? Would that BA help? How much more work does a BSC give you in your opinion?

@@TessG9107 Some universities allow you to do a double major within a BSc, which means you can do an APAC accredited major in Psychology and should you wish, pursue Psychology with Honours and Masters after, whilst doing another major in a different but science-related discipline such as Immunology. Should you wish, you may do Honours in Immunology (or whatever other discipline you choose) and get a research-related job if Psychology does not pan out for you. Immunology (for example) may lead to careers in infectious diseases, diagnostics, molecular biology, biotechnology, vaccinology, or biosafety and regulation. Employers include CSL, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and the Peter Doherty Institute.

It's wonderful that you feel your passion is in Psychology. It is truly a diverse field and the world is currently in need of more workers in Psychology! If you choose to enter the workforce after completing your undergraduate degree, you could put your psychology know-how to work in government, marketing and market research, health promotion, social research, human resources or policy development. If you would like to keep your options open (for example, if you decide you wish to pursue becoming a Psychologist in the future), then I would recommend you do an APAC-accredited major in Psychology during your undergraduate studies. Some universities offer differing levels of study (minor, major, extended major or APAC-accredited major) in Psychology, so make sure you are following an APAC-accredited sequence of study - you can confirm this with your particular institution. Keep in mind that with extra training (an Honours and a Master's) following an APAC-accredited major, you can qualify as a registered psychologist, and you could forge a rewarding career in clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, community psychology, counselling psychology, educational psychology, forensic psychology, health psychology, organisational/industrial psychology, sports psychology, or academic psychology. All the very best, Doreen!

In India there's not much scope for undergrad so I'm trying to shift to UK Or Canada but I'm worried I don't have much work experience and if that would affect my career.

Yea! Tbh I'm not sure- my colleagues are still in it however I know there are definitely places that are a good fit, and I think more importantly it's finding a role that works for you especially as there's such a big variance in the types of work you can do (private practice, management in hospitals, working within schools etc) :)

Hi Ro! I've watched you videos ever since I decided to study Psychology. I'm from Bangladesh and I wanna study Psychology as an international student in Melbourne. Here in Bangladesh psychology and mental health are not just u discussed and swept under the rug but also considered shameful and dramatic. As you might know the costs of studying as an international student is quite high. So my parents are adamant on persuading me to study something practical. But I know in my heart that I want to study Psychology. My family is giving me a very hard time for that. So I wanted to ask you, will choosing psychology over other subjects be good for an international student? Do you know I'll find jobs as an int. student?

Hey Raita! So lovely hearing about your passion for mental health! As far as I'm aware international students can apply and have success getting jobs here if you have the same qualifications but it's just difficult to getting to study (eg I know the international students in my masters of clinical psychology course had to pay much more than local students) but once they graduated they have all found jobs!
