I grew up in a Christian fundamentalist household, and one time I asked my dad "why did they kill Jesus?". I knew that he died for our sins and all of that but I wanted to know why people would kill such a great person, because that didn't make any sense to me. He said "well, he told the truth, and people don't like hearing the truth". I've never forgotten that, and it blew me away when he said that. That was so long ago it almost feels like a past life, but it's wonderful to hear Peterson talk about how Christ's higher value was to speak the truth, to speak order into chaos, to speak the logos'. There is something truly profound and, well, true about this idea.

that's right. Jesus also did not oppose taxation and did not make military action against any one, even told Peter to not fight off the Roman soldiers that arrested Jesus unjustly. Jane Doe... we don't really know what Jesus didn't do. I am not claiming that he did speak out against slavery, but I do think that parts of the story were omitted. So we can't really say too much about what he didn't do, we only know what he did do.

I’ve been listening to him for 4 years and I think I know why he helped me so much. He got me to stop chasing happiness and impulsive pleasures and got me to chase meaning. Meaning in my life and my duty as a son, a father, a brother, a husband and member of my community. To not only NOT be bad or be a neutral waste of space but get out there and help create a world my kids live in. People get hung up on what society should do for them, or what society owes them. That’s why the victim hood pushers hate him. He teaches people to not blame others for your problems. Get out there and bear your own cross. You might be suffering but guess what we live on the hard work and suffering of our ancestors who suffered way more than us. Man up and get out there. That’s what I’ve learned most about this great man.

They point out that we're not as good as we say we are, we're all 'implicitly racist' and 'sexist', and that maybe we should actually value and protect Western Culture that has done so much good. I am rather vindicated to see a Christian philosophy of such profundity. For most of my life, it seemed that all deep Christian thought had been lost. For Protestants, it was government schools that overwrit their history and intellectual tradition. Catholics seemed to abdicate their role in carrying these ideas into the public sphere without a whimper. It brightens my day to see Christian intellect isn't completely gone from the world.

I'm not a religious person, and can be counted as someone who doesn't really care if god exists or not, but if you refuse to learn the lessons religion has to teach you that is your mistake. Many atheists make it out of purely arrogant contempt. These stories had to come from somewhere, and Jordan Peterson in this video definitely articulates the importance of where they did. It's not even something just Christian intellects can learn from, but anyone can and everyone should.

The Eucharist isn’t biblical. As well as about 80 % of what the Catholic Church teaches. There is no infant baptism , no praying to Mary for intercedence ( Jesus never called her mother but woman) ,no Peter as first Pope ,idolatry is banned everywhere (1John 5:21) , there is no purgatory mentioned , no indulgences and so on. The Catholic Church is the same as the Jewish temple in Ezekiel that was full of idols, money and wicked people and hence was destroyed by God ...read Ezekiel and get out of that horrible church sister before it’s too late. This man is giving me a profound new way of interpreting the Bible. One that would probably upset most Atheists because of how high of a regard it gives these stories and how positive it views Christian theological ideas, and upset most believers with how he considers it still something humans wrote, how evolution may have shaped us, and how there is some wisdom from non-western sources. The way his speech resonates with my everyday experience in life is both exciting and terrifying. And I like his use of that word, "Terrifying." No deep meaning of this existence that answers the question of suffering would be anything but.

It's a bad idea to begin with the figurative and end with the literal, the Church defines boundaries infallibly and then afterwards one may delve into the endless layers of the Sacred Scriptures and the Sacred Tradition. Genesis is literal history, as explained at the 4th latteran council and maintained by the Church for 2000 years until the recent modernism. Heresies have been faught in the past, this one is no different in principle and so will be eliminated, the heresy of modernism. However to be clear, Jordan Peterson's analysis is welcome and before him we have had many excellent theologians that have done the same. I would consider the Desert Fathers to be a good example of this by their emphasis on Christian Mysticism. But I would warn all of you that the Orthodox Church right now is in schism, which is a mortal sin, they have not had any ecumenical councils ever since the schism and have basically been left in the dust of nationalism in contrast with the catholicity of Rome which is the Mother Church, the Holy See.

Stop thinking too highly of yourself Brandon, you didn't even choose your parents, and you claim to be a god? You will die like a man, the worms will eat your flesh, and your soul will fall like a brick into hell never to exit. But if you humble yourself, God Almighty will share his nature with you, and you will enter theosis. And only at that point can it be properly said, by association, that you are a god. God became man, so that that man being helped by God could become a god.

I'm shook.... Like, I'm paralyzed right now. This reminds me of something of how JK Rowling developed the Harry Potter books. She always named the characters with loaded meaning that associated characters to certain traits, ancient families, plot foreshadowing, biblical meaning, relations to European myths / epics, and references to history. What you point out here, that Jordan Peterson has a last name that coincidentally and hypothetically implying he's the heir of St. Peter, is something out of a Harry Potter book. It makes me consider if JK Rowling's naming convention of characters is something that occurs in our objective human world....

Think of it this way...if an author can choose names in a book to mean somthing...then if God is God, then he is thexpected author of life. He carefully crafted each of our characters, chose our names.

If you are blessed with children, it is a bonus and a gift. Work together to make the best family you can giving boundaries and love. Growing old is never a fear together with your beloved, because you stay young at heart loving the things of God. Work on communication and solving problems and fears from the beginning.

I mentioned the wonderful "myth of Adam and Eve and the Garden" and he became very gruff and almost left me to eat my food alone. He told me how offended he was that I called it a myth. A myth often conveys a deeper truth than a factual history report. Jordan is great at explaining that.

We can't sit passively and expect the priests to do the job for us. The real Church consists of all of us. We are a living organism that can create and change reality. That's one of the things I realized listening to You, Dr Peterson. There are so many things I am grateful to you about. I found the depth of Christianity thanks to your words and reading the Bible from a different perspective.

Thank you, Prof. Peterson, for helping me to better understand the meaning of life. I cannot say for how many hours, I've watched your lectures. You made my life better and you gave me hope. Because of your explanations I bought myself a bible. Church could never convince me to be interested in religion. You did convince me with every lecture. I will read the bible, to learn how to act properly. I can do that most of the time, because I am your age and learned a lot during my life. But now I want to understand "how to act". When I started some time ago to think about speaking the truth as an instrument to help our society, I suddenly found your lectures and heard you saying, that speaking the truth, searching for truth and being unafraid of the truth is a remedy for many things that go wrong between people. You should tour Europe...we would need you here...I always had the feeling, that thinking is not a "direct" way of producing an answer. I believe that the thinking process is an "opening" process, where the mind opens itself to an answer that is already there. It's like if the thinking process allows the mind to be fearless enough, to "stomach" the answer that will come, even if they seem trivial. Thinking is a process that opens the mind to an universal truth, step by step. These answers are not in our brains, our brain is tuning in to a "bigger brain", that surrounds and connects us. This sounds a bit weird, but I do believe, that we all are surrounded by this universal knowledge or truth, maybe we are even a part of it.

I love how he hasn’t even come out as a faithful Christian yet, whether he realizes the Lord is doing His work through him right now, or he will realize it in the future. It’s amazing how God works, He always shows you that He was there guiding you the entire way, and even when we turn away from walking in love and truth, He uses our straying away for the greatest good, which is His will, He will use even the least of us to continued proclaiming, the Kingdom is at hand!

Great stuff, Dr. Peterson. I wonder, have you read St. Therese of Lisieux, 'Story of a Soul' ? Upon a first read through, one may find - especially a man - it to be cloying and heavy handed in old-fashioned Catholicism. And yet something else may call you back : here is a simple, uneducated country girl who enters a contemplative order and dies young. Her diary circulated following her death and gained millions of fans. Why? She details a 'little way' to the great goal that you have described in this lecture. With your lecture and her story - deeply steeped in Biblical wisdom - I have no excuse for giving in to despair. Thank you.

Jordan says “aiming at perfection.” In the hearing of that I thought of Nisargadatta who stated that it is most important to be earnest. same thing. and in the aiming to your best understanding of the highest good while remaining honest you continually have micro adjustments (as Jordan also describes ) in terms of insight which continually refines your focus and your relief and/or fulfillment. Thank you Jordan for pointing our the most important aspect of “Christianity,” to die to yourself to be reborn (transformed) in both your identity and understanding of life.
