Psychological Tools to Help You SUCCEED at ALL of Your Goals | Dr. Rami Nader

Do you ever find that you have goals and things that you want to accomplish, but can never seem to find a way to get them done? What happens when you feel stuck and unable to accomplish your goals? This video discusses a series of steps that you can take to ensure that you can succeed at almost every goal that you set. The key revolves around how you think about your goals and shifting your mind to separate goals, which you have control over, verses outcomes, which you cannot directly control. By separating goals from outcomes, you give yourself an opportunity to succeed at everything you do by following four steps:
1) Be specific about what need to do with regards to your goal.
2) Think about the goal in terms of your behaviour and define success in terms of what you are doing, not how you are feeling or the behaviour of other people.
3) Have a clear end line for success with regards to your goal. Define exactly how you will know whether or not you accomplished the goal.
4) Make sure that your goals and expectations of yourself are realistic and if you are not 95% certain that you can accomplish the goal, make it smaller.
If you take all of these steps, you almost guarantee success at every goal that you set for yourself. However, that does not mean that you will always get what you want. Again, goals are not the same as outcomes. All you have control over is what you do and the goals and expectations that you have for yourself, but you don’t have control over how others or the world will respond to you. However, by giving yourself the opportunities to succeed at every goal you ever set for yourself, you give yourself the best chance of getting what you want out of life.

GR8 breakdown. Cliff notes for the soul. 👍 I believe there's a statistic that says people embark on their resolutions around March if we're going to do them at all. I've also gleaned that it's better to start creating a new habit early in the week like Monday or Tuesday and after that the motivation degrades. I have found both things to be true..lol 😉 Uh-oh a third thing just came up and it brought me back to a class in coaching where goals were talked about in terms of the ability to set goals but not to be able to really influence outcomes. It's always so tempting to read the last page of the book, isn't it... Also one of the things they say in 12-step recovery program is be careful about making declarations (esp out loud, right?!)

Hi Rami,if a person is going to have a degree/phd in clinical psychology in that time, that person is only focused and studied on specific topics like only child psychology (child mental health)or only adult psychology(adult mental health)?or they need to focus in everything and need study everything?

It depends. Some people get very specialized and only work with particular age groups, while others have a broader, more general scope in their clinical experiences.

does this also apply to ADHD's or do they need something else?

This also applies for people with ADHD. They'd just need more structure and organization to make sure they follow through on the goals.
