Psy - 'Gangnam Style' Reaction! No Lie, Psy Created a Global Phenomenon With this K-Pop Hit!!!

Ойын-сауық

"Gangnam Style" is a song by South Korean musician Psy, released in July 2012. The song's music video went viral and became a global phenomenon, reaching billions of views on KZread. The catchy and energetic tune, combined with its humorous and eccentric music video, contributed to its widespread popularity.
The lyrics are in Korean, and the song humorously pokes fun at the lifestyle associated with the Gangnam District in Seoul, known for its affluent and trendy image. Psy's dance moves, particularly the "horse-riding dance" or "Gangnam Style dance," became a cultural phenomenon and were widely imitated around the world.
While "Gangnam Style" is often considered a novelty or one-hit wonder, Psy is a respected artist in the Korean music industry, and the success of the song brought K-pop (Korean pop music) to a global audience. The song's impact goes beyond its initial popularity, as it played a role in shaping perceptions of K-pop and Korean popular culture on the international stage.

The performance of this at the 2012 AMA's with MC Hammer was fire, and one of the best performances at the AMA's of all time. This song will always be a party banger. Psy is that dude.

No this isn't early KPOP. It started in the late 90's. He had several records out before this. 2012 was late 2nd generation KPOP and this was the song that got me in there when my 4 year old wanted to watch it on You Tube. The young lady/dancer (Hyuna) in the subway scene was already a popular soloist and in the group 4Minute which is where I followed into the rabbit hole. She also did a female version of this song that last I knew had right at about 1 billion views itself. I think it got reposted which might have distorted the views. Psy has had several more hit songs and his videos are usually hilarious in the vein of Weird Al. Try Gentlemen, Daddy, New Face, That That. The only song I haven't liked is the one he did with Snoop Dogg, yes Snoop Dogg. I haven't come for air yet and I am also 57 years old now.

I'm a fairly new subscriber and just want to say I'm loving the variety of music you're reacting to...and I'm thrilled to have mature people doing the reactions (Hollywood da laggin' by a few years, but that doesn't impact the quality of his contributions!) - they are informed and thoughtful. I'm also enjoying the friendship / chemistry you guys have. You all have great energy and beautiful smiles. Glad I found your channel.

Psy was already active in the late 90s - early 2000s. He wasn't new at all when this came out, neither the K-Pop as a genre or an industry. But it's true that it was the first mega it from it to reach the US and the whole world in general.

This is a party song but it' actuall is a satire of rich people doing obnoxious thing thinking they are cool enough to do anything. Both Kpop and Psy were around way before this as Kpop was slowly gaining popularity outside of Korea but this one finally got into the United States.

Well fellows. I came across your channel a while back. Your reactions are interesting. Because you are a forum of 3, you offer some diverse critiques. Which makes it fun! I would like to suggest 4 songs all by female artists. Which I hope stirs the youngest member of your trio to show a little more enthusiasm for the great music he missed out on!! All of these songs were top chart performers. All of them are great songs. I know that running in your lane you probably missed some songs to your right or your left. These will further your enjoyment. 1.) I'm the only one - Melissa Ethridge. 2.) Man, I feel like a woman - Shania Twain. 3.) Black Velvet - Alanah Miles. And most of all!! 4.) All I wanna do is make love to you - Heart. I hope you take these suggestions seriously. The controversy among you 3 will be EPIC!! Peace out...
