That interior view is seriously impressive for PS1 hardware, I had no idea the PS1 was capable of a virtual cockpit like that.

The graphics, the weather engine, and the physics were really impressive for a ps1 game

On the real, R.I.P Colin. Was a huge fan of rally racing in the day, its what got to buy this game. Its the only Rally game I really loved off well that and sega rally oh and vrally, very different in there own rights. Thanks longplay for the upload and being a top channel. You leave no game untouched. You guys gotta be monsters in gaming tbh.

For a game that's 21 years old, it hasn't aged all that badly.

Man whoever is driving is doing a great job (at least what Ive watched so far), this game used to kick my ass repeatedly. Just when I thought I was doing good and learned how to drive well, this game would throw a stage that just crushed my soul.

Yep agreed. I clocked vrally but this was undeniably rock hard. And I had at least 4 of us trying to knock it out the park. Didnt happen though.

I remember when I was amazed by this game's graphics in 98'.

Best PS intro but the part that always made me nervous was whether it would get past the boot up logo screen

High levels of anticipation for this game meant that I hardly slept the night before it was released. I'd played the demo (a lot) that came with the official PS1 mag and when the full game did eventually come out I wasn't disappointed. Great game; one of the best driving/racing games ever, imo. Colin McRae 2.0 is superb as well. Codemasters did some excellent work on the PS1.

How old were you?

I think Colin McRae would be proud his video games ended up generally solid and got good reviews.

Totally loved this game back in the days. My stepdad bought it for me in 1999 and I played this almost every day.

I called this game Colin McRally.

V-Rally on the PSX had much better graphics than this, but the overall game was worse and the controls felt weird and off-putting. But still, those graphics sure looked pretty!

@@sl9sl9 exactly, the thing is the cars in V Rally always felt like they float and zero weight to them, i've even tried the Nintendo 64 port of V Rally and it's the same...

This game is interesting

@@dasdas1970 Colin and his little son died in an accident around 12 years ago. Ironically, it was not a car accident. It's the main reason why the franchise stopped using his name. It's now called "Dirt Rally". Rest in peace, Colin and son.

The original console was regarded as PSX until the release of the ps2 and the smaller psone.

@@adamr1987 no, it was just PlayStation. The PSX is a Japanese exclusive console,which is some sort of blend between PS2 and a satellite receiver.

​@@midorifox this was said by Sony itself and I even have the power unlimited magazine where they talk about the console being in development under the name psx.... This came because marketeers said the name :" playstation did not turn eyes outside the Japan market" So it was developed under code name psx a continue of there code name for there 80's computer msx. No idea what you mean with proof.... You can just go look at any European gaming magazine between 92 and 95 and look for the Sony console in development. It was written as code name psx.
