Psalm 35 - "Awake to My Vindication"

Join us as Pastor David Guzik teaches on Psalm 35. This Psalm is another of what are commonly known as the Imprecatory Psalms, which in strong terms ask God to defeat and destroy the enemies of His people. David is pleading to God for vindication and defense before his adversaries.

I relate. I helped people both as a pastor and businessman. Been burned a lot. To the point of poverty! Now, I’m at the point of my life where I’m crying out “This poor man cried….”

Lord Abba, I have done my opponents no wrong where they wanted to take my life and stalked day and night. It is enough now, I am a better human being without the demons and do not want these satanic minions to be part of my life, loosening psalm 35 to come true, in the name and by the blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

This study was 3 years ago and I’m just hearing it now but I was so glad to hear that my praying for Gods vengeance here lately isn’t wrong. Give God place for righteous judgement way better than taking matters into our own hands. I wondered if I was sinning praying like this. Thank you Pastor David for clearing that up for me. As always loving these studies you’ve done in Psalms.

I really like the verses 27-28. Thank God for those He puts on our path who come to our defense and present themselves as true friends, especially brother/sisters in Christ. Amen on verse 3 ❤ I have NLT and it says victory, but ESV and NIV says salvation. Salvation just hits different.

About "magnify - make our perception big", to make our perception bigger about God is to be able to see God in more detail, closer, and focus. It means to understand better His righteousness, His will, His commands, His character, and everything about Him. Thank you for the enduring word.

According to Ephesians 2: 2 those who disobey God by not being kind and fair to others do so because an evil power is operating in them. As Romans 6: 13 says, they are instruments of unrighteousness. In other words, puppets of the devil. Ephesians 6: 12 says we are not wrestling against flesh and blood but against powers of darkness. People are just enslaved in obedience to what the devil puts in their hearts and minds to think and do. That's why some Pentecostal christians make prayers rebuking and bounding the devil who is the power and mastermind behind all injustice and cruelty people do. Humans do have the responsibility to repent from their evil deeds. When they repent, they are made free through the blood of Jesus.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding but I don’t think believers should pray these imprecatory psalms because Jesus commanded that we bless those who curse us and pray for those who mistreat us which these psalms are not

Jesus' Sermon on the Mount surely lifts us above these Pslams. We are to trust God for his justice upon the wicked, but we are to love our enemies. Thanks for writing in.

10:44 What about Isaiah 53:12, didn't Jesus let himself be numbered with the rebels? And Psalm 34 when David sung the psalm in the presence of those 400 men of various problems? I love spurgeon, but perhaps rebel is the wrong use of word? Standing up to the giant and saying no to Saul's armor could have been seen as rebellious, though not to God. Probably a lot of other things David did like eating the showbread.. Some will choose Jesus, and He makes a world of a difference in a rebel heart and its actions, I guess it depends what kind of rebel we are talking about and who the rebellion is towards. I guess I just always found comfort in Isaiah 53:12 that Jesus came to save rebels (or wretches) like me and others. May He save any rebel He chooses to and transfers them to the Kingdom of Light of His Glorious Son. I doubt you disagree, just saying. I hope for the majority, they are just on the wrong side and don't know it yet, but will.
