I love when you comment on these old films. That's how I discovered your show in 2010 when I stumbled upon, "what makes a great party", from 1950. I can't believe all of Jimmy's characters were in that film.

I find this funnier than I probably should because it's just Ant talking to amuse himself. There's no badinage with a comic, just him essentially talking to himself and making off the wall comments in response to an archaic video. Everything he said cracked me up because it was all so unnecessary.

The median income in 1948 was $3200 per year. Approximately 1.1 million families had a household annual income of $10,000 or more. The US population in 1948 was 146.6 million, so 1.1 million represented .75% of the population. The income levels you cited would have applied to an even tinier fraction of the population at that time. Trying to draw a blanket comparison between nominal income levels and tax rates between now and 1948 requires a few more levels of analysis which you failed to do in your effort to push your socialist agenda.

  • @paddle_shift

@@KayFabe87 Socialist? Hardly, i am an Adam Smith disciple. $3200 income was taxed at 22%. 1948 was a time of progressive, socialistic policies by both parties. Those tax rates existed with minor changes in Kennedys time up until Reagans presidency. You need to stop wishing for good old days, you might get them.
